I wonder if Chase's DNA is available somewhere, and if there's evidence to explore matching it to Judith Hakari's murder... The SJUSD sack is an interesting tie in.

You know, though, she went to that high school, too, I mean... couldn't it be hers? With that said, it would seem more likely to be someone that graduated more recently, I would think, that would still have something like that. To me, it's just freaky that he went to the same high school and college as Judy. And Judy had become recently engaged. Judy would be about three years older than Richard Trenton Chase.

That's too weird for words jmo, and Zodiac victim Darlene Ferrin had evidently mentioned she was afraid of someone, and if recollection serves me correctly, the source of this info thought the name Darlene had mentioned was "Richard." Survivor Mike Mageau said Zodiac was about 5'8" and "beefy" short curly light brown or dark hair. No glasses. His glimpse of the perp was brief, so they don't know exactly how reliable it would be.

Richard Trenton Chase was 5'11"

I mean if it was someone as young as this, I'd almost start wondering about the alleged Zodiac call in to Melvin Belli. Whatever about the Zodiac aspect, I certainly hope this is explored in terms of Judy's case because it seems pertinent that someone that murdered several people in such fashion as Chase did... happened to attend the same high school and college that Judy did, and in the same approximate timeframe. And Judy worked at Sutter Memorial Hospital, there was an inpatient psychiatric facility associated with Sutter since 1969, I would guess (and this seems to be supported online) they had a psych unit prior, though, just not inpatient. The first visit I see for Richard to a psychiatrist is after his 18th birthday. So around 1968? I don't know if this would be the hospital he went to. But it's all quite creepy in terms of coincidences.

I always suspected that the Bellannack, Hakari and Donna Lass murders were related. It turns out that Bellannack’s killer lived in the same building as she did. Just another aspect of the crimes that appears different. I have suspected that whoever killed Hakari had followed her there and took her to some remote site in his vehicle. I doubt he lived that close. I am pretty skeptical of the “three well dressed guys” as being involved in the crime.

It appears that the perpetrator entered her vehicle; probably as she started to get out, and used the bindings he had brought to restrain her. He then transferred her to his own vehicle. This would suggest one perpetrator, it would be difficult for two to function in a vehicle and a second or third could control the victim without restraints. In this type of abduction, the victim’s own vehicle is very often used; to avoid forensic evidence, witnesses identifying it or be able to abandon it if necessary. Using his own vehicle suggests traveling a long distance and not wanting to leave his own car at the seen.

This isn’t that different from the Lass abduction. He did not call her employer or landlord however. The actual body dump sites were along I-80 about 20 miles apart. The obvious route from Stateline to the Lass dump site would have been very close to the Hakari site. It is a pretty good drive to transport a victim but if the perpetrator has a place to go along I-80 in the foothills past Auburn, it might make some sense. We may never find out.
