Yesterday, a vehicle belonging to a Shasta County man, Keith Stotts, who has been missing since Wednesday, August 17, was located Sunday afternoon off Hwy 36 in the Mad River area. And, in a worrying twist, his shoes and shirt were located near the vehicle.

Stotts, who owns Stotts & Sons House Moving, in Anderson, California, was last seen about 9:30 a.m. leaving his home in the same town on the 17th in a car similar to the one shown above (license plate #2PUR265). His home is about a two hour drive from where it was located in the Mad River area.

His daughter, Amber Parker, told us that a search party is being gathered for today, Monday, at 8:30 a.m. in Mad River at the Lamb Creek Christian Center.

A resident of the area told us he had received the following message from the Trinity County Sheriff’s Department:

The Trinity County Sheriffs Office and SAR Team is searching your vicinity for a missing 60 year old man.
He is wearing green cargo shorts and may be shirtless and shoeless. He may also have a wedding band and a metallic watch.
Please check your property.
If you see him or have seen him please call the Sheriffs Office at 530-623-2611.
Stotts is the second senior to be missing on Hwy 36 these last few days. A woman, Patricia Ribeiro went missing about 15 miles west of there on August 18. She was last seen about 10:30 a.m. walking westbound along Highway 36 in the area of Upper Larabee Valley Road.

If anyone has any information about Stotts’ whereabouts or who remembers seeing him or his vehicle, please call the Trinity County Sheriff’s Department at (530) 623-2611.

ANDERSON, Calif. — Family members in Shasta County are on a desperate search to track down their loved one who went missing mid-week.

Keith Stotts, owner of Stotts & Sons Inc. House Moving, has not been seen since Wednesday, according to family members.

They shared multiple photos and a flyer, reporting that Stotts, 66, was last seen in Anderson on Aug. 17. Police confirmed he was last seen at about 9:30 a.m. leaving his house.

The Shasta County Sheriff's Office said it received the missing persons report on Aug. 18, Case No. 22S024955. SCSO Sgt. Van Eyke said Stotts is an at-risk missing person, saying it is out of character for Stotts not to check-in with family as he normally does. His phone was also left at home, the SCSO said.

“He’s a hard worker so he wouldn’t miss work so we know that," son-in-law Rich Decosta, owner of North Star Motors in Redding, told KRCR. "So it’s not like him to not show up to work and he’s a creature of habit. So, him not showing up to work, is something going wrong. So that’s when we decided to start looking.”

Stotts was wearing a white t-shirt, green khaki shorts, black tennis shoes and white socks, according to family.

David McFadden shared on Facebook that his stepdad was last seen driving a white, 1998 Mercedes, 4-door sedan, similar to the ones pictured on the flyer. Police confirmed the vehicle description with a license plate number of 6PUR265.

"He could have been out bidding jobs anywhere from Eureka to Paradise," Decosta said. "He could be anywhere in Northern California. And it's not like him to be gone this long."

"If he is out of his car walking, he could possibly have a hard hat on to protect himself from the sun," relatives Eric and Christine Wacker posted on Facebook.

Loved ones ask the public to call Shascom Dispatch at 530-245-6526 and the family at 775-315-0450 if they see him or know anything about his whereabouts.

“I usually don’t get emotional," Decosta said. "I try to hide those emotions but it’s been just very overwhelming, but I’m very thankful that we have this outreach and everybody helping to just find Keith.”

Around 4:30 p.m. Sunday, Decosta told KRCR that the sheriff's department informed their family that Stott's car was found on Highway 36 in the Mad River area. Decosta said his shoes and shirt were found near the car and they are asking people in the area to be on the lookout.

KRCR has reached out to the Shasta County Sheriff's office for more information.

"Mad River" is the name of a community as well as the name of a river, so this update confused me at first, but the language used in the article clearly suggests Mr. Stotts has been found deceased.
