Slightly O/T
This is just a FYI for anyone that owns a vehicle manufactured on or before 2018.

When 5G was rolled out this spring, many vehicles lost their "On Star"/locating capabilities. As 5G was rolled out, 3G disappeared. Many locating services (before 2018) were based on 3G technology.

KR's car was a Honda and I don't think ever had tracing technology. I feel it is worth noting because many other - pre 2018 vehicles have lost those capabilities.

I don't think most owners even realize this.

Again, just a FYI.

About traffic cams, hotels, garages-
Two years ago today I got a frantic knock on my door. The messenger had come to inform me that a dear family friend had been found brutally murdered in his home.
The accused killer, jailed awaiting trial for almost 2 years through Covid delays - drove his Tesla charging along the way from San Diego county to Reno. He stayed in hotels until he was detained then extradited after making some kind of purported suicide attempt.
How many traffic cams, possibly automated tolls would he have driven through with an APB out on the car, not to mention possible jaunts around Reno? Not to mention it being parked at a hotel while not in use?
So don’t depend on traffic cams.
I can’t imagine how many hidey places there must be in the Tahoe Basin.
Somebody knows what happened. Kiely’s disappearance doesn’t sound like a premeditated occurrence to me but predators and opportunistic players do abound, escalation and accidents happen.
SS said in the Youtube interview yesterday- “we invited” all grades not wanting to leave anyone out and mentioned 4 schools around the Basin. Maybe through Discord? Those sound like easy questions for local parents to ask their kids.
Who is the leader of the Lord of the Flies?
Anybody local know how real the East Truckee Fight Club is?
I’m not sure but I know where you can order your very own t-shirt

Dated: 2016
Josh Watson slams Daniel Schnurrenberger into the Sheetrock wall of a non-descript warehouse in Truckee,…

It’s nearly 7 p.m. upstairs in the West River Street warehouse, and fight club is in full swing.

Every Thursday evening for the last year, a handful of participants drawn to these underground fights have tested their mettle against each other. The grunts, curses and occasional blood is real, but the bouts end with a laugh and a tap of gloved fists.

2016:
The Fight Club, 10960 West River Street, Truckee, CA

News Nation / Nancy Loo expanded coverage. 9 min video. Nothing much new. Walk round the Prosser site at 2:05 in the video. Short interview with ML and SS. Friends insist they believe she didn’t go off the road or into water. Interview with former FBI agent Jennifer Coffindaffer. Her opinion is they have tailed back abduction scenario since no evidence. Focus on search to sonar, dogs, dive team.

NewsNation’s written summary of video.

I don't understand how you could feel strongly that she didn't go off the road or into the water. There is so little that has be a logical option in anyone's thinking, in my opinion. For people so close to the search to be ignoring that option is ... troubling. IMO

I get it, but all that matters is that law enforcement is exploring that option. At the same time, they are covering their bases by also exploring a criminal angle.

If she's in the water, that means she's no longer alive. I get why friends and family wouldn't want to to accept that.

I believe they are basing it on the extensive search that has been performed both on land and in the water. Once I saw how large of an area was being covered and how many people have been involved, I started to change my thoughts on what the most likely scenarios are (moving accident further down the list).

my first thought is she and car are in the water so is phone. it could be something else tough, it dying seems plausible due to it being low not long before that and possible intoxication
I think that she and the phone are in the water as well. I just meant that the theory that she went with people to an after party somewhere to drink/use drugs doesn't really fit with her phone not pinging after 12:30.

But if she went off the road into brush, she might still be alive. The potential of drink/drugs/sleepiness/inexperienced driver/nighttime creates lots of possibilities. Let’s consider that as a 16 year old, she’d have had a lot of restrictions on her driving—I don’t think she’d have honored them, but they were created for a reason.

So, assuming that there wasn’t a 25-year-old riding with her, I don’t believe it was even legal for her to be driving after 11pm.

Nighttime + inexperience = potential trouble.

The slow dripfeed of information coming into the police and out to the public is so frustrating. Undoubtedly the police may have a bit more that they're keeping private but they do keep encouraging people to come forward, saying they aren't getting enough viable tips and someone must know something.

Whatever the outcome I do hope Kiely is alive and well and will be reunited with her parents soon. Most likely IMO is the car was wrecked or went into water with Kiely in it. Least likely IMO is a runaway teen scenario. Abduction is the scenario that is most terrifying. Another speculation is an accident/OD at the party and an attempted coverup.

@Runin530mtns @truckeelife

I very much appreciate your local expertise regarding this case.

This kind of lifestyle is extremely foreign to me. Here in NYC of course kids have all kinds of parties, but not rural gatherings in woods and mountains, with headlights as the main light source.

I'm 64 now with three grandchildren, but even as a teen I was not a partier---I'm more the bookish type. My daughter was a partier, though, and did a lot of things that I truly did not know about until she told me when she became a mom. We didn't have cell phones or cameras on every corner then, and she was a good liar.

My thinking is that Kiely's lifestyle, while having a lot in common with teens everywhere, was also unique in the sense that she lived in a very isolated lodge. I imagine she was given a lot of independence, since she was already driving cars and snowmobiles on her own on those roads.

It doesn't seem like her parents were helicopter parents like I was, because I'd never go to sleep until my daughter came home, and I'd check with all the parents before I let her go to a party. (Of course it turned out that some of the parents I believed I was speaking to on the phone were actually older sisters and brothers covering for her).

It's my feeling that her mother really didn't know the degree of illicit activities that were planned for this party. My heart just hurts so much for her family.

I know what you’ve spoken about are just theories based on local talk, but if it’s true that something tragic happened at an after-party, I cannot imagine how teenagers would dispose of a body and nobody would ever tell. If that theory pans out, I feel that someone would break.

I joined WS in December 2019, because every now and then I searched online for any updates about my friends Mitch and Bonnie, and google led me to Websleuths. They disappeared in 1973 at ages 15 and 16, and still haven’t been found.

I’m hoping that with today’s technology, there will be some kind of trace somewhere to locate Kiely, or if there was an accident or foul play, someone will talk.

I vacillate continually between thinking she was abducted, she drowned due to drunk driving, or something tragic and substance-related happened to her.

The best case scenario would be if she was rebelling and ran away, and then turns up. But that’s what we thought happened to Mitch and Bonnie in 1973, and we were so wrong.

One theory I haven’t heard yet, or maybe I just missed it….
Is it possible that this WAS an elaborate runaway scheme? The hoodie message? Telling mom she’d be home, the conflicting stories of whether she was spending the night or not….
Look at the woman in Canada who just spent a year creating an elaborate plan to stage her and her sons death so she could abduct him across the border and start a new life! Dawn Jansen I believe

<modsnip>
I mean no disrespect by this theory. Just a thought...

That is entirely possibly. Reminds me of an episode of I, Survived I just watched, where the man went off an overpass in CA and was stuck upside down in his van with his arm pinned for 4 days I believe.

An hour ago, I would have said no. Now, I’m pretty much suspecting it….

It didn't sound like they stayed in the car to charge the phones for all too long, so the phones were only partially charged. If she continued to check the phone in an area without wifi, she would have blown through the battery more quickly.

MOO I think the phone charging is a cover story for dropping lines of cocaine or some other usage of drugs in KRs car. I think she had a car filled with buddies doing dope and pouring liquor. KR had only been on location about an hour when they went to her vehicle.

This case is so heartbreaking that it requires me to step away about every other day. The conflicting stories have my head spinning. We learn she had two boyfriends but maybe she had three instead. I've never seen the flick "The Lord of the Flies" so I don't understand the reference. I saw "Fight Club" years ago and was left traumatized by it.

SS stated in her YT interview that she and Kylie threw glow sticks into the crowd. What was the purpose of doing that? Were they tripping and enjoying hallucinations from the movements of the glowing colors? She also mentioned they had lights strung up at a group of trees that she pointed out when at the Sanctuary with a reporter. Those may have been used to illuminate the boxing participants.

Everytime I see her mother, these green eyes well with tears. Abusing drugs is not a worthwhile recreation.

Speculations and Personal Opinions Only!

Who are the local teens protecting?

Did 90% of the local teens tell their parent(s) they were at so and so’s house?

If most of the parents knew their teens were at the party - why would these high schoolers be afraid to say anything?
how did the out of towners find it? Who told them where the party spot was?
JMO
That question as to they are protecting may not have an easy answer as the partiers were not a unified group. Rather, each individual or small group could have their own motives for not being forth coming.

I suspect the party goers told their parents a dazzling variety of truth, half truths and outright lies regarding their planned activities that night and what type of setting those activities would be taking place in.

I suspect that the out of towners and older participants were informed of the festivities via social media connections to social media connections to yet another social media connection.

As for motives for not cooperating, it might not be out of a desire to truly protect anyone. Rather it could be:

"I did not know KR, and did not see anything strange at the party- outside of the usual “Lord of The Flies” type celebrations. So…. there is no reason for me to get involved."

"I told my parents I was going over to Kevin’s house. I was at his house for several hours before we headed out to the festivities. I don’t want my parents knowing I was there."

"The spin I gave my mother was a low key chaperoned party- not an “anything goes” ala Lord of the Flies event."

"I was selling drugs user to user level at the party. I don’t want the police knowing this."

Locals, or those watching aircraft—
Has the amount of activity changed in the last hour?

  • #698
I wouldn't think into the "organized fights" comment too much. My 18 year old son always has a ton of friends over and they do this, not in a "Fight Club" way but more like "Ok, Mike wrestle John and then I have winner." They're not knocking each other out, just rough-housing.
Well said.

My son does the same thing whether its wrestling or what he and his friends call "slap boxing". Sometimes the uhmm.... "contests" can start to deteriorate into real fights, but the participants are pulled off each other before that happens.

It seems to have decreased, but it usually does around this time of night.
