Thought I'd check on the moon phase and rise / set times for 8/5/2022, since illumination of the environs could be key to someone's ability to navigate out of the campground to anywhere else in the dead of night.

The moon was in the first quarter phase on 8/5 and 51.61% illuminated.

But more importantly, the moon set at 12:26am on 8/6. So there was NO MOON illumination during that fateful 15 minutes between when KR told her Mom she was going to leave (12:15am) and the last 'ping' from her phone (12:33am).

That could mean the odds of KR having an accident into a ravine/brush/trees or into water were a bit higher. It could also mean without flashlights, cell phone lights, or car headlights, it would be tough to clearly see other people at that time.

1. Moon Phase for Friday August 5th, 2022.
2. Moonrise, Moonset, and Moon Phase in Los Angeles, August 2022

But initially when this was brought up, no one was talking about putting shrooms in them, they were only talking about alcohol...hence my reply.
true.. its really a moot point because its all specualtion but i was just saying, it could be used for shrooms if they were present.

I thought she said the "popped" in the woods? I would need to go back and find the clip in the previously linked interview, but it seemed she was explaining Kiely wearing a bodysuit with snaps and not a tank top that had been reported found at or near the site of the party. It sounded like they were going off into the woods and "popping a squat"--let me go look for it

Edited to add: public restrooms are a place where other things could go down though, depending on the type and level of privacy?
oouu i do recall her saying "pop a squat"

Here's a map

Right, okay. So the idea is instead of turning left on 89, she may have turned left on Old Hwy 89, which leads to the north fork of the reservoir. I was confused because the boat launch is on the southern shore, just north of the Prosser Campground. Thanks!

I recall reading that term. It's the British word for sweater so I assume it's one of our UK members referring to her sweatshirt as such?
You got me, well spotted I am indeed from the UK

Hmm...OK around the 13:30 mark, SS does say" in the woods, popping a squat" but then she also mentions the restrooms.....So perhaps both? Or she doesn't really remember?

So Kiely would not ride a friend home last year as she (Kiely) had been drinking? Am I reading this correctly? Interesting that another parent finds this an example of maturity. Last year was 8 months ago, so at best, Kiely would then have had her license only 3-4 months, and already out drinking and driving.

What could go wrong?

I think this is an outtake from a conversation with Lindsay (mom). In context it was used as an example of how KR would openly tell her mom if she was too messed up to drive...

Totally agree!

Anyone have a link to the KR wearing a jumper? I have seen it mentioned in previous posts, but missed the origin. Not doubting it, just curious to read about it. TIA.
Sorry for the confusion, I was meaning sweater

Here is where I am personally stuck:

Mass exit from party around 12:30. In and of itself, not especially strange as kids may have curfews, summer jobs, other plans, and the general consensus things were out of hand and/or maybe even winding down, or heading to after parties.

Kiely's phone call to SS AND the last "ping" at the lake also within minutes of this clear out.

IF she drove off the ramp and into the water, surely someone around would have noticed THAT?!

If there really were 300 or so people, this means around 100 vehicles. At least a fair portion of these would have dash cams. With everyone leaving and headlights on, it would be fairly well lit in the area around the time Kiely's phone last "pinged."

"She was having a fun time at a party, just being a teenager," Smith told ABC News during an interview Monday. "Everything she drank, I drank out of, and there was nothing that seemed off about her."

So…

Right. I paraphrased her alleged conversation. The point is- her alleged impairment would have been alarming during the call and merit a mention, one would think. Not just warrant a tata, love you byebye.

I get what you’re saying. But they are teenagers and teenagers don’t always make the best judgment calls. And if SS was drinking too, well, the judgment is even worse. As teens you think you’re invincible. You don’t think things like this will happen. And if SS thought Kiely was staying there, she was likely even less worried - especially if Kiely did know others there.

Short video of a motorcycle rider on the Prosser boat ramp during low water six years ago. Gives you a good idea about the depth of that part of the lake versus the deeper section further out.

Another thing that is nagging at me. SS repeated several times how extroverted Kiely is. Kiely went around the party meeting all kinds of people. So, she left without saying goodbye to...ANYONE??? (edited to clarify I mean in person, and not the call to SS)

That is unbelievably bizarre to me.

Anyone who has been a teenage girl, or has teenage girls or has them in your homes, think about how they act when they're saying goodbye after something ordinary, like a basketball game or a dance practice...lol. Hugging, waving, shouting out stuff.

This is really odd, IMO/

Please don’t be sorry, I found it interesting. Jumper = sweatshirt. Kind of like boot (British) vs. trunk (USA).

Jumper also sounds much prettier than sweatshirt! :)

So true, but add in any sort of intoxication and everything goes out the window. :(

Another day and still no Kiely. I am happy to learn that AWP will be joining the search soon, they are truly doing God’s work, IMO.

Many moons ago, (a time well before cell phones) a friend of mine went missing. We live in a very small, rural town where everybody knows everybody.

Long story short, family, friends, and LE spent 3 days searching the route she would have traveled, as well as, other things. We found absolutely nothing. Rumors swirled of course, but the people who knew her, knew she wouldn’t just run away or leave.

At the end of the third day around dusk, in an area previously searched, a passerby noticed her laying in grass at the edge of the roadway. It was a MIRACLE that she had survived. She had wrecked in a curve in an area that was surrounded by dense woods on both sides. The car flipped numerous times and became suspended between two trees high above the ground. Many people searched this area, but none of them ever looked UP. She had been trapped in her car and in and out of consciousness for most of the time. On the third day, she knew she had to do something. It took her hours just to crawl the 160 ft. To the roadway where she was seen by a passerby.

She was very banged up, with lots of broken bones and has had several surgeries since then, but is doing very well now.

I said this to say, I wonder if something like this could’ve happened to Kiely? If searchers were on the ground, maybe they missed her? Helicopters would not be able to see from above if the vehicle is covered by trees. I’m still of the belief that she’s in water or a situation like the story above. JMO.

How would you stop them, say from going to a party that you said no to? My son would just walk out the door lol. I’m supposed to physically restrain a 6’3” boy??
Luckily, mine had a lot of respect when I said something. Still does, even though she's all grown up now. Sounds like it would be a hard road to have your kids disrespect you like that.

Kiely doesn't sound like that though. Her mother talks about the good and close relationship they had. It doesn't sound like her mom had those kinds of problems with her and there was a lot of mutual respect. jmo

I say with sadness that I hope Adventures with Purpose is successful in their search, as we know that successful results would mean the end of hope that Kiely is still alive. For now, we can keep hoping for a miracle, that she just walks back in the door at home between now and the weekend.
I would like to think she could still be alive. But at day 11 it’s very difficult to believe that she would allow her mother to be in anguish this long…. :(

I was no saint as a teen, and that is putting it mildly - to say the very least. But my parents had no real idea what I was doing, and it wasn’t in their car. I think that’s what is getting me a bit. There feels such a lax attitude about these reservoir parties from some folks we have heard from in this case. I have yet to hear a parent or LE say, ‘this is why we don’t condone these parties.‘ I guess some would say that now is not the time - but to me, it seems the perfect time to maybe scare the kids a little straight.

And apparently it’s been going on for decades in the area, and not the first time there has been an injury, per the article below when a teen was burned. I hope this won’t turn out to be the first fatality, but it’s not looking good.

“Berry said that one of the biggest obstacles they face is overcoming the idea that partying in the woods is something that all kids do.”

“It’s not a right of passage just because you’re a senior in high school to be able to go out and drink in the woods. That right of passage is when you’re 21,” Berry said.

Underage drinking spills out into town
The article brings out a very valid point - these kids have little recreation other than what they put together for themselves. "Fighting." Drinking. Drugging. This is a lousy equation for finding a missing girl, alive... It's just heartbreaking....
