The only thing I can come up with (in my mind) to answer the question BBM in your post, is if someone inside the car when it went into the water tried kicking out the door to open it or to brake the window. The more I look at it the more it looks like a very strong person could have kicked at the door in a frantic effort to survive.
That is my thought too!

So Kiely's phone goes dead 12:33, presumably when it enters the water with her, at the same time witnesses see a trail of cars leaving the party. How did Kiely go the wrong way when there were so many cars leaving in a trail out. Why didn't she just follow them, it is the exact same time?
It has never been substantiated that there was a mass exodus of cars at the same time. It’s in none of the interviews, LE timeline, or even the great timeline that was posted earlier a couple times.

I found absolutely No evidence of mass exodus or people leaving all at once, beyond the speculation on this board.

Not sure if this has been posted but this could be telling as well when the autopsy results are in:

Interesting article. Thanks for posting. I think the article raises very important concerns. Reports ARE open to interpretation, things will get missed, and I always lean toward more information is better for society in the long run. If investigative reporters can glean information that prevents other children from being harmed, then there's really a balance to be struck in harm.

Anyway, if they had a solid case, this law wouldn't prevent prosecution. I'm not sure how LE will handle it if there is evidence of foul play but not enough to prosecute. I wouldn't think this law could stop LE from talking about that even if the full autopsy is never released?

It kind of sounded like she might have a lot of different things in her car. That would make sense to me as the Lodge is remote and hard to get out there. Maybe her car was full of her stuff so she wouldn't have to make multiple trips home each day. Anyway, I'm actually surprised with two open windows underwater that nothing floated out and was discovered in those two weeks. Or maybe it did but wasn't identifiable as hers.

It looks like the side impact bar that is inside the door to protect from an accident; it makes sense there’s damage like that from the impact of hitting water and then sinking and overturning (and then being flipped back over and removed by tow truck) IMO. To be honest, I would actually expect more damage. I have background with cars involved in fatal accidents and police investigations related to it, and in my experience with cars that end up in water all exterior damage is almost always attributed to impact/rocks underwater/removal efforts and the emphasis is put on damage INSIDE to tell the real story (seatbelts/dashes/steering wheels/seats)

I think those are a few of the things in that LE yellow tapped off square.

OT but just a quick hint. Not sure what your specific issue is, but I was stumped for a while with the preview mode. For the benefit of others who may not know:

That "preview" icon is like a toggle switch. Toggle to see the preview (but you can't edit in that mode); then toggle again that takes you out of preview mode and allows you to edit. Then toggle again for preview, etc.

Hope that helps.
It's in Preview app on MacBook pro. I was able to figure out how to draw the skinny black line along the road - not seeing how to draw a thicker pretty colored line. At some point, I'll need to do some research to have more effective maps.

  • Kiely Rodni’s mother reveals she almost didn’t go to camp party.

From the link: :(

On Monday, two air resources were also working on the case while over the weekend two dive teams were also combing through the nearby waterways.

The apparent calling off of dive teams comes despite Kiely’s cellphone last pinging at around 12.30am close to Prosser Lake – the constructed reservoir that goes around the Prosser Family Campground. Divers searched the lake for any signs of the missing 16-year-old but recovered nothing but officials admitted that the search was challenging due to the conditions in the water and it having a depth up to 57 feet in places.

Kiely’s mother has revealed that her daughter almost didn’t go to the campground party the night she disappeared as she issued a gut-wrenching plea to local teenagers to help “piece together” what happened.

She said that Kiely had planned to go to a car show in Reno with her mother on Friday night but texted her during the day to say that she was going to go to a party at the Prosser Family Campground instead.

Took me a while to find that video but I wanted it because I could have sworn the guy said he drove from where the party was back to town. He didn't say he was going to the site of the car going in.

I verified that from the post with the vid of Steve Fisher's below. This is what he said "For those that asked me to film a video leaving the campsite, or the party site, not the campsite. (Gemmie's note - He made an error and corrected it there) The party site is just up this road (camera pans to the right to show the Sheriff's tape). <snip> (then pans a little to the left to the reservoir, then a little more to the left for the road leading back to town). He then says "You take a left" (now his car is visable pointing back toward town) "and then I'll get back in my car and just hold the camera while I drive all the way back into town."

That was all said by the 41 second mark so it took less than the first minute of his vid.

He did not film the same road that @Truckeeite took and recounted for us.

OP's post - Found Deceased - CA - Kiely Rodni Missing From Party Near Prosser Family Campground in Truckee #6

Link straight to the video in question from the above post. One less click!:
It's true it's not the same drive because he wasn't by the lake. To be precise though, he did drive a portion of what I drove. That first segment to the asphalt is also the first segment I drove (in the opposite direction). It was because I saw his video first that I was so surprised the road was that rough (starting at the place where the asphalt ends).

Just think of any photo you have seen of a landscape that doesn't do justice to what you saw in person. That's how I'm seeing the video. The non 3D nature makes the road look flatter, smoother, and wider than it really is. You cannot see the huge dips and bumps in his video. You can see his car lurch some back and forth but the way it actually feels driving in a SUV similar to hers is totally different than what I thought it would be from his video.

I am very curious as to what happens now- if it is a tragic accident (which I believe it was) and the cause of death was related to the accident/water and IF the toxicology reports show alcohol etc, then does the sheriff investigate where the alcohol came from to press charges? Or at least use the publicity from the traction of the search effort to warn teens (and adults) about the consequences of drinking and driving? It’s hard; on one hand you have the family and Kielys privacy and on the other a chance to use it for good. All IMO, but it’ll be interesting to watch what happens in this regard

Google Earth satellite images show Le parked in the beach, so I inferred that the shots I used for my drawings were pretty recent—I don’t know how useful maps is, but the satellite images are recent. I am going to ask a geographer friend if he can let me know how to acquire the most accurate real time images. More soon…
You have satellite images showing LE at the beach during the recovery? That would be interesting to see. Can you link?

Does this also include accidents or just murders?

BBM above. Interesting, as I'm sure Kiely knew about the campground "party" for weeks. I wonder why she decided last minute to attend. Doesn't matter, won't change the outcome, but just struck me as odd reading that now, like perhaps she was the shy type, not into parties, and decided oh heck, it's my senior party, I'll just go (and we know she wasn't shy and not into parties).

I've taken some screenshots of the ropped off area on the beach from from this video (10:22 to 10:35)

And then i've taken a screenshot from the drone flyover here (2:51)

I have only estimated the ropped off area (marked in blue) but someone else will probably have more experience in this than me. It does look like there could be tracks or possibly something in the sand but I can't enhance it anymore
To my knowledge search parties were in that area prior to Kiely being found. Even if there are tracks it could very well be from searchers or others that were in that area. jmo

If I'm correct this video clip (from the 1:08 mark) is from the road that is marked as "Party is down this road" on your map.
Video is from the PI. He mentioned that he thinks that (at the end of the video) he reached the party location but in a recent tweet he said the party location was actually about another 1/4 to 3/8 of a mile further down the road. He thinks however that this (the spot at the end of this video) could be the parking location.

Link to video clip
I agree with him reaching the spot at the end of the video because in the video where SS notes where she parked there is a tree stump just like shown at the end of the video and if I could screen shot the two side by side it will look the same. I’ll try to do that.

I'm curious why she had her laptop with her?

I can't think of any reason how it contributes to her unfortunate demise, but a laptop doesn't seem to fit with anything we know about that day or evening either.

It seems like an unusual thing to carry around in the summer, on a weekend, when you're hanging out with friends and heading to a big party in the woods.

No conspiracy. Just curiosity.

I don't find it unusual. The younger generation grew up with them. It's no different than having a notebook in your car.

Let me double check—I will need to double check the dates and whether they were sat images or aerials from the car extraction. I may have misspoken here—I will look now.
