Prosser Resevoir -- is there a more beautiful place?

Unsettling.

Her grandfather, sitting there alone.... :(
I know. That’s when I had to break out and run for a roll of tissue paper. My Kleenex box was empty. I’m still a bit shaky from it…
I do wonder if LE will now comment on the video.

Very sad.

I thought it was tactfully done. If there is more to this than a simple accident, I hope it will be solved.

I didn't hear the phone call to the aunt prior to them removing it but this could be a serious issue if the family is indeed upset. California is a 2 party consent state. For them to not only record without disclosing, but the broadcast it could cause a lot of issues. Maybe he stated the call was being recorded (as I didn't listen) but I've seen no mention of that.

After watching the entire AWP video that was released this morning, I still have not been convinced by anything revealed, to change my opinion that this was just a tragic accident. Unless and until tow truck guy's story is confirmed, with what should be easily verifiable records, I am not trusting that he had any interaction with Kiely, and if he did, I am not trusting he has his date correct, as he seemed to not be sure whether it was Fri, Sat, or Sun, when he answered the battery call. I am likewise not sure anything can be inferred by whichever windows were down or broken, as it pertains to attempting to classify this as an accident or something more, and I am not sure that the diver that went down and made the discovery of the vehicle, with Kiely's remains inside, has the experience yet to determine if something looks suspicious or not, as far as where her remains were found. It may be that there are more things that AWP know, that they did not divulge, pertaining to what they saw when they discovered her vehicle, but without knowing more than they shared, I am still persuaded this was just a terrible accident.

I will say that, after watching the entire video, I do feel that, with the exception of including the tow truck guy, who really added nothing to the story but speculation, and a good hook to suggest the idea of possible foul play, the video largely handled things with proper dignity and respect, and was not produced as a money grab, imo. I actually found it very informative. I still really wish they had not rushed to put this video out, but after seeing it, I really do not belive they shared anything that will hinder any ongoing investigation. JMO

My nephew is missing (3 1/2 months) if he were found by AWP I would be so so so grateful. MOO is we can't miss the mark they were called in by LE and they found Kiely.
I’m so sorry @Warwick7. I did not know you were in this situation. i will be praying that your nephew is found soon, safe and well. And for your family. Your opinion, of AWP, carries a greater weight for me knowing this though I have that same feeling.

As hard as it would be to go through the very public parts of their finding KR, not having to wait months, years, maybe FOREVER, to know what happened to my beautiful daughter would be worth the trade off. People (not meaning anyone at WS) are getting so worked up about “well, that’s not the right way to do things” it seems to me they’ve forgotten how many people go missing and never turn up. Or it takes sooooo long it puts their families into what must be a living hell.

Hello all. New poster to this thread, it took me a long time to catch up reading.
I feel like the new AWP video was well made and quite respectful, although of course I can't speak for Kiely's family I can speak from my perspective of having had family members go missing for over 2 years before they were found deceased. It is painful either way, to know and to wonder, and then to know they will never come back. And Kiely was so young, she had her whole life ahead of her. This is such a sad story.
I really hope that her loved ones will find the answers and closure they need and if there is justice to be served, that it comes swiftly and efficiently.
RIP sweet Kiely.

It really is a trade-off (or Catch-22, you might say). If you get the media attention, you have to deal with the vitriol that comes with it. But in this case, without the media attention, they wouldn't have gotten AWP, and since LE had already written off that part of the lake, how long would it have been before KR was found?

FWIW, AWP have dealt with fresh cases before. Here is one:

The interactions with LE in this one are interesting.

They also did this one, when the gentleman had been missing for 2 weeks. This case was strongly believed to have been an instance of self-harm, so they used different processes for removal and remains recovery (i .e., they didn’t feel compelled to ensure that the car remained perfectly intact, moved remains, etc). They also didn’t need to do the full accident investigation because it was believed to be intentional. RIP.

Edited for clarity.

I’ve been following AWP’s YT for a little while now. Their videos have usually seemed a bit “over the top” (almost theatrical in some instances) to me, but I was able to look past that to the end result in most cases. Kiely’s is no different. It takes money to do what they do and they don’t accept rewards apparently. So…

Their work is priceless. It’s brought answers to many families. Answers that wouldn’t have been available otherwise.

That’s all. I hate to see this thread veer off topic a bit.
Hey, MadMcGoo! Good seeing you again. I haven't seen you in awhile. I hope all is well... :)

Has something changed that they don't accept rewards? I think Kiely's family spokesperson stating that was the case may have added some confusion about that. I haven't seen it said "We accept rewards" on their website, I've only seen the wording "we accept donations", however, I've also read where they were thinking of suing for Ethan Kazmerzak's reward money (several MSM's about that), and in one of their Ethan Kazmerzak's vids Jared Leisek says (which isn't totally clear if they do or don't. lol) "This is a real life treasure hunt. There is a $100,000 on the line if you can find Ethan (Kazmerzak)". (Gemmie here - to me, his use of the word 'you' might have been how I tend to use it a lot... as in a collective, general way. I don't feel like he was excluding AWP, and that only you, the general public can get it.

That was all said during the first 30 seconds of their vid:

Here is the MSM that says they are thinking of suing for the $100K reward:

A month and a half after a dive team found Ethan Kazmerzak's car and remains in a Franklin County pond in October, a battle is brewing over the $100,000 reward in the case.

Jared Leisek and Sam Ginn, two Oregon-based divers who specialize in recovering vehicles underwater, found the car. They have a YouTube channel called "Adventures with Purpose." The group traveled to the area twice to search for Ethan and documented it in videos released on their youtube channel.

Leisek said he did not pursue the case because of the large reward but said he and his team feel they are owed that money.

Leisek said he and his team are exploring their legal options, including possibly suing for breach of contract.

Leisek said rewards and donations are how his group funds their searchers and allows them to purchase new gear.

Now, the group says it is considering suing to get the reward.

"We only ask that what was offered to be honored to uphold the integrity of all rewards across the nation," Leisek said.

Just watched the video.
Still feeling the moment they found her, a sacred moment.

Removing the call to the family was the right thing to do, I'm glad the family requested it and AWP honored their request.

Overall very sensitive and informative, done with a lot of integrity, IMO.

A couple of days ago I asked who was in charge of the investigation. I found my answer :):

Placer Sheriff

@PlacerSheriff

Replying to
@xxxxxx
That would be a question for the Nevada County Sheriff’s Office as they are now lead on the case because Kiely was found in their jurisdiction. We assisted in the investigation because Kiely was a Placer County resident reported missing to our jurisdiction.

Hey Gemmie! I’m doing very well thanks. I hope you are too. :)

You’re right, there still is some confusion for me when it comes to reward money being accepted. I didn’t look too much into it because in my opinion it’s a moot point. I think they deserve every penny they get (no matter the source) if they continue to provide results like this. I can’t even imagine where we’d be if they had not retraced the steps of previous searchers. We could be tossing around wild theories on this thread 5, 10 years from now. Know what I mean? :D

On another note, that video was a little sensational in parts, but still so gut wrenching to watch. I cannot fathom coming face to face with human remains while diving under water. Or under any circumstances for that matter. That has got to take a tole on anyone doing it. They’ve earned my respect.

And seeing and hearing Kiely’s poor family’s reactions. Ugh. :( MASSIVE hugs to all involved!!

ETA: These are all my own opinions.

My understanding/impression is they would accept rewards, and the situation with Ethan, the young man who the located in the pond with the $100k reward, it was an issue because the reward was mysteriously withdrawn when they located him. i.e. the person(s) behind the reward claimed it had expired the day prior. (I will find sources and add, believe it was in another AWP video, and not a MSM interview I have watched several as time allows, so may need to tag a follow up post.)

I also heard AWP state in one of their videos/interviews that they have helped families under financial pressure create accounts for donations to help cover costs associated with burying a loved one. I'm assuming this is accurate.

It seems like the costs of traveling around with a crew and maintaining equipment would be more than what they generate from $4-5 early members only videos and merchandise, but perhaps I'm wrong. I think the good they do here is worth it, as long as they continue to respect any family members who as for privacy.

I tried grabbing screenshots from the video at some items you could see inside the vehicle. Not human remains. It looks like maybe a phone charger and a Truly can…

Looks a lot like the charger we have for an older Mac laptop.

Edited to add an image: Is this a vape pen, maybe? I do not vape, but one of my sisters does, and shape looks similar? Also could be a knife? Thoughts?

I couldn’t really make out the other stuff. Maybe someone can get better images than I could.
