I am very interested in the toxicology. I hope the water, decomposition doesn't affect results too much. The friends continued to make a point of seeing what she drank, even sharing the same drinks. Why offer this information? I heard it over and over.

More than what she was drinking, I am anxious to learn of any illicit drugs in her system. I feel certain that she had alcohol in her system, but having arrived at the party at around 10pm, I do not believe she would likely have become so inebriated by 12:30 that she could not function, unless she also had other substances in her system. I am leaning towards a lethal mix of alcohol and drugs as being what ultimately caused her to end up in the water. JMO

Or a head injury.

A concussion, or worse, while drinking could be a really bad combination.

Edited to add: The more I think about a head injury, the more it seems possible in this situation to me. It could explain several different possible scenarios and information we have been given by various known and possible witnesses.

JMO, but I felt as though that was shared by SS in her interview as a way of saying "No one put anything in the drinks because we shared the drinks, and nothing happened to me except being drunk."

Personally, I still think it would be possible for someone to have slipped something into Kiely's drink. SS said they were together, but then she did also mention they broke apart at times, while talking to groups of people and other things. Linking her interview to make sure I'm within TOS/not to cause clean up issues for sourcing/support:

Agree. But I do think she could get very inebriated in 2.5 hours, if she were drinking shots. This has happened to someone I know. ;)

I agree to an extent. If she was drinking hard liquor versus beer/wine while drinking fast, she could have gotten to the level of alcohol poisoning fairly quickly. 1.5 ounces in an hour would keep her within the impaired/not impaired limit. Take something fairly tasteless like vodka or grain alcohol and a mixed drink (grape juice, lemonade, etc) could have way more than 1.5 ounces. Sweet drinks and kids with less experience are a dangerous combination.

And, totally agree that if she had taken a drug and was drinking she could have been highly impaired.

Yes, that is exactly why I think she would say that. The problem I have, no one asked Sami about it. She just randomly offers that information.

Oh yes, I don't doubt we will find alcohol, but I think her friends' statements imply there might be something else. IDK MOO.

I can Google this, but are Truly's a popular thing to mix with something like Vodka? My regular seltzer habit is ridiculous enough, so I've never tried a hard one.

Edited to add: This is an interesting link,if you're an aging, stuffy GenXer like me, haha. Are Hard Seltzers as Popular with Kids as Adults? - 2020 Parenting

Takeaway with regards to seltzers: because they;re low cal and lower in alcohol, people tend to drink more, and get drunk faster. They do use as mixers.

Yes, the Truly website has cocktail suggestions like:
  • 1 part Truly Flavored Vodka
  • 1 part Soda Water
  • 1 part your favorite Truly Hard Seltzer

I like to mix regular or lime flavored seltzer with wine to make a spritzer but I guess it's common to mix it with hard alcohol too.

I would be very sad if a 16 yr old driving drunk was not an issue? As a mother myself, that I don't understand?
Actually, my post was referencing her being DD, and her mom thinking that was the case even though she was at a party with drinking/ drugs. I can’t imagine any mother that would be ok with drunk driving.

Personal experience from my dumb *** days of long ago... (So it's MOO) 2.5 hrs is WAY more than enough time to get very inebriated. Waaaaayyyy more than enough time. Did I say way? If not, I should have! lol :D

*zips my lips on this topic, not to utter another word, not even if tickled*

Duty Ron has an interview with Barbara Butcher, medical examiner, and Nick Rinn with AWP. I found it very informative. There is video showing the discovery of the vehicle.

Agree, especially because SS left her there.
Could be a guilty conscience for leaving a friend behind and not looking out for KR better (overcompensating), but could also (Speculating here) be a guilty conscience for something she knew happened. I honestly don’t think it’s the latter, but of course can’t be sure til we have toxicology info.

My best guess is a BAC of .15 or greater though, and maybe THC, but I’m not sure how accurate measures of THC levels are in decomp cases (since THC remains in the system for so long after use). I will be interested to learn how they account for recency of THC use when a body has been deceased for 2 weeks.

Fair enough. I still believe she had more than just alcohol that night. I do not think she was a novice drinker, and believe she probably knew her limit, and if she knew she was going to be driving home, I think she would have paced her alcohol consumption. I will be surprised if one or more illicit drugs do not show up in a full toxicology report. All JMO

If LE suspects foul play as a possibility, I wonder if they will recreate scenarios?
I doubt it. LE doesn't seem overly concerned with much at all in this case. They've let too many things slide and been too lax already.
Plus Prosser County turned everything over to Nevada County, CHP are doing their own investigation and no-one knows if the FBI are still involved or not.
