@EmmieA. Doug from AWP has stated several times since that initial public release of their recovery video, I think even in some videos posted in this thread, that Nick (and/or his DA company) has confirmed the sighting was ~11am on Sat. 8/6. Whether it was KR's car, KR, friends of KR, strangers with KR, etc. is of course still an unknown. But sighting date is set.
Thank you @RedHaus . I have watched every interview and did not realize that Saturday was set in stone.

Perhaps the initial autopsy results show clear signs of death by drowning and no other evidence of foul play—no trauma, bruises, broken bones. So they are waiting for tox results to make it official, but feel pretty confident it was “just” a tragic accident?

Editing to add: Also, maybe the family is giving signals to LE that they want the investigation wrapped up as soon as possible? I can’t imagine what they have been through/are going through.
Perhaps. KR's Mom's words from her beautiful tribute to her daughter yesterday are rolling around in my head. I do want to respect her wishes and mind my own business because they've 'got this'.

So I'll close my thoughts here for the day by responding to your post with a twist on a "just" a tragic accident. I do not think KR was alone on that beach when her car went into the water.

I still suspect it could be a 'Chappaquiddick Incident' or a 'Hit and Run', either being the result of roughhousing with trucks and cars on the beach. Those odd deep scrapes on the edge of KR's rear hatch look like an off-roading grill tapped her rear end.

IMO

Edited but then my edit was a typo, so I unedited.

It is impossible not to feel conflicted after hearing her mother speak.

While I can't bear to watch another YouTube video, I suspect the "Saturday" confirmation for Nick the DA guy's supposed sighting, may have started with this Duty Don interview by the two former NYPD detectives, a former non-physician NYPD medical examiner chief of staff (honoring all three today, 9/11!)) and Doug from AWP. It was posted up thread. Here it is.

Totally agree this is a possibility.

Do we know what day or night K and her car actually ended up in the water? Has LE made an official announcement on that?

But it would seem the investigation should not be rushed, and should be as thorough as is possible, in the interests of the family and the victim.

I agree with you. I just worry that LE, in general, is under pressure to close cases as quickly as possible due to lack of resources and time. So unless there are glaring signs of outside involvement, it’s easier to rule a death as accidental and move on. Especially if the family is in agreement….

To me the sneakers look white and the belt black and white in the CCTV footage taken at the shop. There was also mentioning of a different hoody; white and pink colored. At first the cross tattoo was left out, later added, so the description has changed a couple of times and it's most likely she changed some clothes before going to the party. (if SS's description was accurate) Borrowed them or maybe she had clothing in her car...Idk.
Could she wear her sneaks loose, and what I'm pointing to in green is the inside of the tongue that's pulled or hanging down? Red arrows point to what would be the black sides. To my eyes it looks like the very bottom of that image is cut off/off-camera, so you're not seeing her entire foot, just from top to a few inches down. Otherwise it looks like her parents bound her feet, like the ancient Chinese did in the late 1200's, so they are only a few inches long. Seriously though, best I can tell one style of Van's (or all?) have white for the inside part of the tongue. Best I could find is the pic below which is from Van's site. Wish they showed more pics but the inside tongue looks like it could be entirely white.

Lastly, I Goog'ed for how to style vans high tops and found a vid where some don't always lace them all the way up (loose fit). Perhaps hers were only laced halfway up, and the tongue is hanging down to expose its white underside. Again, it looks to me like the rest of her foot is off-screen.

As for her left leg, it looks to me like she was caught in stride, and her knee is bent with her foot back and mostly out of sight. No clue what's below what looks like her knee to me. We can get SUPER sharp pics from satellites how many hundreds of miles in the sky, but surveillance vids take crappy pics. Someone needs to fix that! lol

It looks too me like her pants are a tad cropped and that is the ankle area, no socks.

That very well could be too. I was trying to relay why I didn't think her shoes were white when her missing poster said black Van's. So I agree! It could be her ankle or the shoe tongue hanging down. I just don't think they are white shoes to my eyes.

Not white, I agree with you.

It is too bad that LE didn’t find KR’s car in the first days after her disappearance. We all wish that they had. That AWP came in and found it very quickly made many question LE’s dedication to this task. As I watched the early days unfold, I saw a deep commitment from the various LE agencies. They put hundred’s of hours of searching both on land and in the water. In addition to searching they were following up tips, conducting many, many interviews, begging party goers to come forward with statements and video, and obtaining warrants for digital devices. I am not stating that mistakes weren’t made. I don’t really know. It is important to realize that LE did not know how or why Kiely disappeared. They had a minimum of 2 counties to search with forest roads, lakes, rivers etc.
The water in Prosser Creek Reservoir was much more shallow when AWP arrived on the scene. They had a very focused area in which to search. And, they do this type of search exclusively. I wonder how many times local law enforcement have performed under water searches? I liken it to having a world renown chef bake a cake next to an amateur making their very first cake. I wonder which one would come out better?
As much as I admire the work done by AWP, I think they are being totally irresponsible in the public statements they are making at this point. I think the quick recovery went to their head. If they feel strongly about what they think, let them make a statement after LE releases the results of their investigation. Right now, as far as I am concerned, they are only adding to the rumor mill and the anguish of KR’s family. MOO

Without AWP's
quick recovery, LE would still search endlessly.

To accuse AWP that "success went to their heads" is very harmful and unfair.

But, unfortunately, those who try their best to help others and succeed, often become victims of slander.
It is really sad and discouraging.

Stay calm and strong AWP guys and never ever doubt there are many, many people who appreciate your efforts!!!

That channel is very interesting. I have no idea if Duty Ron is an approved source here, but if they're not, considering it for this case would be nice, if at all possible. They seem to keep the discussion professional and ask a lot of good questions, but are careful not to ask in a way that is disrespectful.

If anything, AWP seems to be going out of their way to explain to people why they should not come down hard on LE for not finding Kiely and her CRV right away.

I've heard AWP say there are things they would have done differently IF they had been in control of removing the vehicle from the water, but even then they were careful to explain why LE on the scene may have done things the way they did.

Basically, every time I've heard AWP speak, they're acknowledging they specialize in finding vehicles underwater. It makes sense they would find a car faster than someone who might look once every year or so. I think AWP would like the cake baking analogy that OldCop used. It's pretty similar to things I've heard them say.

The
It's also possible that Kiely's friends have become victims of slander.
They absolutely have—as a direct result of the interview with the town truck driver, wherein he described two teens who happened to be wearing the exact outfits that JQ and SA were wearing in their interviews with MSM on the day KR went missing.

I’m not saying their work is not appreciated, only that I have concerns about some practices.

If you read my entire statement, I said I admire the work of AWP. What I don‘t admire is AWP going off on theories and innuendo. They are not forensics experts or criminal investigators.
I don’t think there is anyone who was not pleased that AWP found KR.

Maybe what they could have added a disclaimer for people to keep in mind a lot of people could fit those descriptions, and there is room for error and interpretation? This is something I have heard them do in follow up interviews, and you would think people would understand something like that black hat could be purchased by anyone, but obviously not.

It's a tough call, IMO, because if it is an accurate description of the couple Roadside Nick saw, it's important information.

Personally, I think it seemed as though most of the friends were already under attack/suspicion, partly because that's common when anyone goes missing--there is a natural tendency to look closely at who a missing person was last with and who they're close to. I also think the internet was already judging and picking people apart, probably within hours. Maybe another reason many of the teens did not come forward?
