Kristin Smart: Missing Cal Poly student's family says no news imminent

Please notice what the Sheriff's Dept. The FBI & the Smart family say here. Among other things, they said there is no timeline and nothing is imminent. They never said what the retired FBI Agent stated was not true-at least as far as a major break in the case had occurred. A lot of times, it is how things are worded is what really counts. Don't be surprised if something is going on with the case.
I agree. I think we’ll hear something soon about this case, presented by the local authorities who seem to have jurisdiction over it.

Here’s to hoping that there’s an element of truth in all of this, and that her family will finally get some answers and find some peace in knowing what happened to their daughter.

For now..... we wait.

Maybe as publicity for the podcast?
Which podcast? I’ve seen one that’s not very good (today’s standard anyway). Maybe someone will do one.
Oh I just found “in your own backyard” podcast. On top 10. Imagine that. I’ll listen

15 min into “your own backyard” so far so good. Great voice, empathetic and interviews parents. Let’s shake the tree and see what comes down.

I don't think so. I don't think they want any unwarranted publicity. They've been through enough already.

I'm hoping the family and the ex-FBI agent are privy to information where making such a vague public announcement may somehow benefit the investigation.

Just my opinion, of course.
I've went full circle and landed back at ground zero on this one. Guess we wait and see what happens over the next several weeks. Super confused regarding what Denise released and her motivation for doing so. But I don't think she would ever jeopardize the investigation, so I'm standing in her corner regardless. As a Mom, I can't even fathom the depths of what she has walked through ...

Jeopardize WHAT investigation? 23 years nada. Whatever mis information happened, it ignited her story. I didn’t realize there was a good podcast until I heard this misinformation. But I believe there is always a little truth sprinkled into false information. Whether intentional or not. I hope something comes out of this. Kristin deserves to be buried in a place her family can visit. With respect. The people that will break this case are the people the POI told. Speak up!

I don’t think that Chris (podcast author) wants publicity. He has worked very hard on it.

It's one thing for the ex agent to say there is some information coming in the near future. I could see the mother misinterpreting that. But where did she get the idea of a pr spokesperson, get out of town etc? That's just a mind boggling jump.
After listening to the entire podcast I think Denise did receive info and I do BELIEVE she may finally be fed up with sheriffs office. To all sleuths, If you have listened to entire podcast, let’s discuss.

I agree. I am standing in that corner right there with you supporting the Smart family and friends. By the looks of it we might just need a bigger corner!

I do know two things that are happening in the next few weeks.

A vigil will be held on February 1

Kristin would have been celebrating her 43rd birthday on February 20

It killed me inside the first time I read she has missing longer than she lived....

Of course he wants publicity. I've not listened to the podcast and i don't know who Chris is, but assuming (no reason to believe otherwise) he has the purest of intentions then he at least wants exposure for Kristin's case or he wouldn't be doing a podcast in the first place especially not one he "worked very hard on". There's nothing wrong with that, i don't even think there's something wrong with someone creating a podcast with profit in mind seeing as it could do good, as long as they treat the victims well and don't go around accusing people without any evidence.

Man, whenever we hear what age a victim would be it always hits me hard. I remember seeing mention of Maura Murray's 37th birthday last year and felt the same. Reminds me of Les Revanants when all of the serial killers victims come back stuck in a permanent state of young adulthood because of him.

LOL road trip..from Houston. I would love to attend the vigil.

If new evidence has been discovered or if they have decided what evidence they have had all along is enough to file charges.

Would this have to be presented to a California grand jury first?

I wonder if a grand jury has been convened lately?
