CA - L.A. sheriff's deputy Sean Essex charged w over 30 counts of sex crimes involving children

On Tuesday, Deputy Sean Essex was indicted by a grand jury on 18 counts of oral sex acts with a child, 12 counts of lewd acts on a child young than 14 years old, two counts of sexual acts with a child young than 14 and one count of possession of child — a total of 33 counts. The charges include a case from 2006 that was previously declined by the District Attorney's office.

The Sheriff's Department fired Essex after a criminal and internal investigation in 2018. According to the department, the termination was overturned by the Civil Service Commission, which ordered that he be reinstated.

"Mr. Sean Essex does not reflect the values of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department or those of the dedicated men and women in law enforcement who proudly serve our communities each day," the department wrote in a statement.

A Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputy pleaded not guilty Wednesday to sexually assaulting four girls between the ages of 7 and 13, prosecutors said.

Sean Essex, 51, was ordered held without bail.

So, they had a chance to out this guy for sexually assaulting children in 2006, but the DA let him slide. He apparently ruined the lives of multiple new victims for the next sixteen years. I say they had a chance to out him because even a conviction doesn't stop child molesters. They get a slap on the wrist or plead down to something that keeps them off the sex offender list. Disgusting. MOO

Yeah, DA declined to prosecute. Then Sheriff's department tried to get rid of him in 2018 and he fought, and won his job back after the commerce commission ordered the department to reinstate him. thoroughly disgusting. all those victims that could have been avoided.
