GUILTY CA - Lana Clarkson, 40, fatally shot, Alhambra, 3 Feb 2003

  • #1,281
these things may not point to his guilt but they may factor into how the jury feels about his defence and him.

1. pumpkin pie. if a star witness for the defence is believed to be a total liar it cannot reflect well on PS.
2. missing evidence. if the evidence does not point to his guilt why would it not be turned over?
3. surprise! she was breathing after death. when the judge tells the jury that the defence surprised the court with this information and did not play by the rules i think it will affect their feelings for the defence.

whatever the jury feels for the defence will affect how they feel for PS imo.

In order to honor the jury, both sides of the legal team stand when they are entering or exiting the courtroom. Since they are now leaving the courtroom from a door other than the once they entered from (the main door), I watch them as they single file out towards the door. The juror in question is in the numbered 5-9 range, white, gray hair and constantly writing. Yeah. He smiled at Linda Kinney-Baden and she returned the smile.
You can add: Dr Lynn Herold's description of Lana's twisted shoulder bag strap. That shows me that Lana wanted outta there very quickly, not even bothering to straighten it.
Another thought: each of the 5 women knew Spector and thus knew how to talk him down. They stayed, yes, but managed to calm him. Lana didn't know ol' Phil. She didn't do that. She insisted that she wanted to go. Now. Just a thought.

Anyone know how I can get a bottle of shampoo to Pie?
To show you how incompetant that defense team is, no one cleaned her up before her first testimony. Yesterday, she was re-vamped: hair was up and wearing an appropriate suit with a shirt underneath. The defense had a heck of a time geting her on the stand. She was no where to be found. One of them said that she was in the bathroom. My neighbor just came back from there and said that she wa not there. Wonder why she didn't want to be confronted with her mass Christmas mailing!

The defense never should have recalled Pie, she made no sense at all trying to explain her Christmas letter. She claimed she blamed Spector for Lana's death in order to be "politically correct". What a stupid excuse, anyone with half a brain will discount her testimony. I'm glad she's not my friend!

I'm in complete agreement. She took the defense to places that it never belonged. And, not to be catty or anything, but if anyone EVER needed to wear a bra, this chick is it!!!! GEEZ. Someone tell her she's not in her 20s anymore and the "girls" are swinging way too low to go without!!!!!!

Totally agree. And the other witness (forgot her name). I don't know how she looked on the streaming video, but from my point of view she was a total mess. Stick thin with a silicon chest, deeply sunken eyes hidden behind a load of eye makeup. Her deep, overall tan is scary. That woman is either ill or shows several decades of nightime escapades including not just alcohol.

Hiya Gang,

Good to see you all quipping and a'writin.

Jeana, my bet is that the Pie's hair was freshly shampooed then gobbed with "mousse croustillant." It had to be situated properly in order to discuss "politically correct" text in a past letter. Oh my gosh, if anyone on the jury believed her explanation of that, their IQ is under 30. I wondered how she might gracefully slide out from under having written that text. She didn't, she just "faux pied" (or cow pied) her way through an incredibly ridiculous explanation. Politically correct? I don't think so... Politically correct would not have indicated anyone at all... Nopers, that letter stated what she felt before someone got to her, and I'm sure they got to her at a cost. So sad...

Yad... Great to see you posting, glad to get your "report from the court."

La Mer... Nice list. Those are the things I come up with, certainly at the top of my head. If I were a juror, I wouldn't have to go much beyond item number 8.

Too bad the jury can't see that Spector was arrested and had to do penance for other "gun pulling" acts. I believe that was on several occasions.

I hope for the jury's sake, as well as the California court's expense tab, the closing arguments go fast and the deliberation goes fast to a GUILTY. Spector has been on the loose for too long since Lana was murdered. He only has a few more crummy years to serve "life" or whatever he will be made to serve. I'd like to see him in and serving it. Lana has been serving her time since her life was taken.

It's WHY Pie was RELUCTANT to get on the stand yesterday. The defense looked everywhere in the hall for her, finally with the excuse that she was in the toilet. She wasn't.

Thanks. I find it a priviledge and an honor to be able to watch our system of laws at work and to observe the gladiatorial fight going on beyond the Bar. But the drama out weighs the hassle of driving/parking and hopefully waiting for a seat.
I am wrestling with the idea of showing up for final arguments but am afraid that I won't get in. The media will garner all of the seats. Then I will miss everything until I get home.
I think that the prospect of even one day behind bars is not doable for Ol' Phil.

I have always had the feeling that Phil will "off" himself if things start to look bad for him in this trial.

Which reminds me: I sat next to a very nice woman yesterday who is from the greater Los Angeles aarea and who is/was a musician. At one point in the proceedings, I looked at Spector's direction and saw him absolutely STARE at me. Me? What the heck for? I asked my other neighbor, who is he looking at? She answered me, Mrs. Clarkson who say two rows up from my and between her and Spector was a straight line. You really want to talk about one scary look? This is not subjective. It was an objective and one very nasty stare. What was he doing? I just read about this occucrance from someone "over there." She sat on my immediate right. She saw it as well.

Anyone want to add to the list?

Surely not another OJ or Blake verdict here!

Will he take off, or 'off' himself?
Great list but just another thing that might be added is that Lana was shot in the mouth and would've had to hold that gun, bend her (albeit healing) broken wrists at an awkward angle and pull the trigger. And she seemed to not be fully seated on the chair and her purse was over her right shoulder. It was also PS house that she'd never been to before and didn't know where he kept guns (or that he had one). There also looked to me like there was a struggle at the door when the lock was broken, and when I think her acrylic nail was broken.

I don't really know about him fleeing or committing suicide himself. Part of me says he'd take off (because I can't see him lasting long in prison), but another part says he's so arrogant he doesn't think he'll be convicted. I'd like to see him take off just so DOG could go after him since he's out on $1 million bail! :)

His walking around millions plus his house don't mean squat when compared to his music catalogue and the residuals that go kashing everytme anyone plays his music. I do believe that's where the real money lies and where Mrs. Clarkson's lawyer will focus his attention on. The source that pays him so much money that on one anonymous night he can go to three separate restaurants/bars and leave a $500 tip at each one.

With so much income still coming in, wouldn't it be hard for him to flee and have it deposited in a foreign bank account without the govt. being able to find out where he is? I really don't know how this all works, so if you could explain I'd appreciate it. I'm just curious how someone could take off and not be found with the money trail.

I can't speculate whether he will/will not make an escape. What I meant to say that the civil suit is very, very ripe for Mrs. Clarkson and her remaining family.

Oh I know, they'll stand to collect a lot especially if he's convicted. I just thought I'd ask about how his finances would affect a possible "run for the border". :)

He's already had to take out two mortgages on that house. His son said the other day that he believes Phil thinks he's not only going to be convicted, but then will be sued in civil court. The son thinks that the father would rather spend the money now on this trial than ever hand anything over to Clarkson's family, so that's why the son thinks his defense is so damn over the top.

Spector adds another name to his legal team

>>LOS ANGELES, California (AP) -- Phil Spector's murder trial is entering its final phases with a newly appointed lawyer at the helm of the music producer's defense team.

Spector's wife announced that the producer had hired San Francisco attorney Dennis Riordan to replace his ousted lead counsel, Bruce Cutler.

The surprise development came Tuesday evening -- a day after the close of the trial's testimony.

Riordan is due in court Wednesday to discuss the crucial issue of jury instructions with prosecutors and the judge.

Oh, I didn't hear that from his son. That's surprising that Spector is actually realizing that a conviction is very possible. I thought he'd be blinded by his own arrogance.

Methinks that he's become a very practical man. Actions have consequences not always geared to his benefit. That addition to his defense team this morning is an example. They have all but admitted to having lost the case. What a humiliating admission. Wanna bet his little suitcase isn't already packed?

he's not man enough. He might shoot someone else, though, if the judge doesn't have him put in cuffs right away. I can see him going home, getting a gun, and blowing everyone away. I hope he gets put in cuffs as soon as the verdict is announced. He'd get another trial, get out of his cell, and be the center of attention again.

He's had plenty of time to take care of that. Lana was killed in 2003.
