CA CA - Lesner Noe Velasquez Cardenas, 21, Redding, 29 May 2025

  • #21
Well, a passerby took a picture of him at the scene. I think a friend picked him up and took him home, need to verify that.
Here is the article with the photo of Lesnor at the scene of the rolllover taken by the passerby who took it prior to someone he know coming to give him a ride home. The articles doesn't identify who gave him a ride, only it was a woman who knew him, who stated that he had no injuries and appeared coherent.

The article states he was a graduate of Shasta College where he was on the wrestling team.

Thanks, such odd circumstances. Hope they hear from him soon.

This has some more information from the best friend & friend's dad.

Hunter Kyncy uncovered a strange inconsistency in the timeline. On the day Cardenas disappeared, Hunter logged into his laptop and checked the FindMyiPhone app, which showed Cardenas’ phone pinging near the base of Mount Shasta at 2:06 p.m. — 16 minutes before police say he got into the taxi.

Yet another piece of the puzzle that doesn't make any sense.

The phone timing is truly odd.

He was not, nowever picked up by ICE, if the full name and country of birth is known that is easy to check. https://locator.ice.gov/odls/#/results

Why would he take a passport but not his wallet?

odd he would state he was trying to beat a friend’s hike time. From this article -

[…]

But according to Kyncy, Cardenas had no known connection to the mountain. None of his friends were hikers. None were climbers. And the deeper you look, the more bizarre the case becomes: His wallet and cash were later found at Kyncy’s home. Only his passport was missing. It’s unclear how he paid for the two-hour cab ride to the mountain.

According to the article linked above, the friend was using an app to locate Lesner at 2:06. What time was the crash? Why was he looking for Lesner's location at 2:06? Was Lesner reported missing by that time? Had Hunter heard about the accident and was trying to locate Lesner to make sure he was okay?

Who is the person in the driving seat of his car ? He indeed looks amgry/perplexed

Good question about the person in the driver seat. Maybe that is whoever picked him up? Where is his car that had rolled over? Where was he originally going?

From the article -

[…]

She explained the last family and friends heard Velasquez had been in a rollover accident after avoiding a deer along Oak Run Road around 10:30 a.m., May 29.

[…]

(Within the article, it also states that he was picked up by the cab around 2:22 at E Cypress Avenue to go to Mt Shasta.)

[…]

The woman who gave him a ride said he seemed coherent and had no injuries, but when Jimenez went home to check on him just after 3:30 p.m., he was gone.

Yes and why is the car in perfect condition after a rollover? It clearly states L is stood next to his car
Someone is not telling the truth here IMO

I don't think that is his car. Since it was stated that a "passerby" gave him a ride, there that may have been their car (with another occupant) or yet another car, delayed by the accident, the annoyed look lilkely from being delayed in their travels. If he had a rollover his car likely would not have been sitting on the road in a normal position for forward travel, with no damage. His car was probably off to the side, close to him, but not easily viewable in the photo.

He's only 21, poor baby.
It was a rollover accident. I think he seemed ok because he was in shock. Then the symptoms of a head injury set in. Lord I hope he survives this

As far as I know he didn't hit any other driver, he avoided a deer and rolled over. I Think the person in the white SUV in said photo stopped to help him perhaps.

Wait - what the what?!! His wallet and cash was found at Kyncy’s home? How does that even compute? This story just keeps getting weirder.

I figured the cash was withdrawn because that ride in a taxi would cost well over $100, maybe closer to $200. But now we read the cash he withdrew was found with his wallet, didn't go with him? Weird! I wonder what the taxi driver says about how he was paid...

Why do you say that?
I was just thinking that because he seemed scared of talking to the police, possibly because he didn't want retaliation from a gang.

That makes sense - however his friends stated he seemed to be in fear of being deported, though he was here on a student visa (likely the F-1 or M-1) and that may have made him fearful of the police. Was he no longer in school? If so, the Visa is only good for 60 days post completion of studies but he can change his academic program or enroll in another one pushing back his departure window accordingly.
