Yes, that description "The talented Mr. Ripley" was brought up in news articles too. I haven't seen the movie. I take it the movie was about a con artist? I agree, he is way over the top!

Haven't seen the movie. Just read the original book by the title you note, and then patricia highsmith's four sequels. The first, at least, is a good read.

I'm not surprised the series has already been noted in connection with this case.

Sandra Boss was a victim there is no doubt. To be married to a man for 12 years only to realize that you don't know him, don't even know his name.

But IMO she was an extremely lucky victim. She learned about his alias's, possibly learned something about what he was up to. There have been many cases when women in this position are killed or go permanently missing. I think the idea that he intended to use his daughter to get money from her is entirely possible.

Yet, Boss still isn't bad talking him. While her daughter was missing she didn't talk about the alias's and LE didn't release the info either (I hope they knew.) This info didn't get out until Snooks had been found and it didn't come from her. To me that seems odd. I would have been shouting the fact that he was known to use alias's, that he could be living under another name. Anything to help find her.

mollymalone, this is what I seen..His lawyer...to many hours reading and searching.

Since his arrest, Rockefeller has not been told where Reigh is, and he has not attempted to write to her, Hrones said. Hrones said he believes the assault and battery charge against Rockefeller will be dropped. He said he plans to fight the domestic kidnapping charge because Reigh’s mother lives in England, and it’s up to the courts there, not in the United States, to work out custody and visitation.

But the specter of more serious charges against Rockefeller may loom if he is ultimately linked to the Sohus case.

IMO Sandra Boss has no control over the charges. Bon apetit!

I agree...I feel she may had told them a few things that we are not aware of about their life and also they may had asked/advised her to remain quiet...wonder if she is back home in London

Interesting comments from the attorney.

Was the child kidnapped from the US? LOL, old timers working again and I can't remember for sure.

ETA: Found it. The crime (kidnapping) occured in Boston. The child was an American citizen. Sounds to me like the jurisdiction is Boston.

Details in the Clark Rockefeller Case Seem

DNA test, anyone?

IF he has common alleles with the brother in Germany, it's a slam dunk.

If not, back to the drawing board.

Here's an odd one.

FAKE ROCKEFELLER VISITED CAMDEN & ISLESBORO

The Whitehall Inn has hosted the rich and famous for 108 years. But now, the inn has discovered its guest list includes an infamous person as well.

In 2006, Clark Rockefeller, his wife and daughter stayed at the inn on two occasions. He claimed at the time that he was visiting a home he owned on Islesboro.

This is an area visited by the real Rockefellers and one Rockefeller lives there.

Oh, yeah, I saw that one. He's saying he believes they'll be dropped. He's spinning..usual defense lawyer spin.

There's no way that's going to fly. IIRC the divorce/custody agreement was done here in the states. Even if it had been done overseas he kidnapped her in THAT state in THIS United States. Our laws apply and I think he'll find that custody agreements between us and the UK are honored.

I'll have to take a look at the book.

if he is german and not america he will not face the death penalty if he is convicted of the murders of the couple in california.

and this also shows that student coming to america should stop as its a backdoor way into america which is a security issue after 911

He knew he was on to a good thing when he found her and coasted for that many years in the lap of luxury. As things deteriorated she probably started noticing things that didn't add up, and since they were no longer in the first blush of early romance they jarred. I think she was extremely lucky and I do think he intended to use his daughter. Perhaps mommy might have had a convenient accident or murdered and the child would inherit, then he'd get to administer the estate on behalf of the child.

Somehow I think Sandra Boss already has her money/estate tied up so that would never have happened and did so on advice of her attorneys at the time of divorce. The supervised visitation was insisted upon because at that time they believed he would try and kidnap the girl.

So either he threatened it, or they suspected he might do it based on his previous actions/statements that didn't add up about his life.

Why do you say that? He could still get it whether he is German or not. Besides, he's got a green card (by fraudulent means IMO) and that makes him a U.S. citizen unless they yank it.

Yes, I've read the book too. There are a lot of people out there who spend all their time trying to get over on authorities, the system, or us.

germany and america have a policy that german people who face charges in america will not face the death penalty if they are guilty of the crime they have been charged with andeven if the green card issue comes up that would be dismissed as he obtained that by deception due to him over staying is visa but because of the kidnapper of his daughter he will face state and federal charges as he carried out the crime in one state and feld to another state so the first trial with take place in boston and if he is charged with murder in california they might after too wait until later to order a trial in california unless boston allows him to stand trail in california then go back to prison in boston and when is time is up he would be transfered back to califronia to serve time.

I've never heard about that policy before. Yes, I agree with you that he'll face significant time if he's convicted on any of the charges in either location.
