CA CA - Linda Sohus, 28, San Marino, 8 February 1985

Just checked, his passport would still be either valid or renewable in 1985. To renew, you just send it in with some paperwork, two new photos, and some money. He probably could have managed this... he did talk DMV into giving him a license at one point, saying that his name had been typed wrong or something.

If he lived in the San Marino house for months or years after they disappeared (as one line seems to imply but it was from a blog and unverified) who paid the bills? How do they know when he left?

Gad!! So many questions!!

Actually he left just a few months after they disappeared. I believe they disappeared Feb 85 and he left in April 85. However he held onto the car for years.

(snip)

I believe now that the Greenwich blog writer was wrong. That is where it was posted that CG was in San Marino until 1988. She was one of the first to post about his timeline. I posted that info here but it was cleared up later by info from more reliable reports.

He... talked... the DMV... into giving him a license.... This guy is unbelievable.

Joanie, wouldn't the passport you're talking about his renewing be a German passport though?

I swear I read though that he did have a passport but it was as a Smith or Brown. Of course, I cannot find that info now to verify this.

Anyone else recall this?

Do you all realize how smart this guy must be- as well as manipulative and determined?

As a teen, he managed to get himself to America. They are saying he was an exchange student, but I do have questions about that. While still in high school, he managed despite being different- both personality wise and via having an accent. He managed to stay here despite being thrown out of the home he was residing in.

He met and married a woman within a short time, in order to obtain his green card- and didn't reside with her after the wedding.

He managed to disguise that accent well enough to hide his origins. He learned how to obtain false documents, how to how to change his identity several times. He learned how to pick identities that would help him meet his goals. He managed to work his way into the upper echelons of society- and that was without having a successful job and despite his noted personality 'quirks'.

And after getting caught, he knew enough to 'lawyer up' and keep his mouth shut, never admitting anything.

He seems totally goal oriented, capable of setting goals, working (in his own way) toward the goal, and if he hits a roadblock to figure ways to go around the roadblock. If this guy had gone straight- who knows how far he could have gone? He could easily have legitimately earned his place in the upper echelon of society if he had gone to college and gotten a job and applied himself the way he did the other way.

Instead he lived his life like it was one of the Hollywood movies he was obsessed with. He took a story and made it the story of his life, and he lived that story. And like watching a new movie, when the first story 'ended' he chose a new 'movie' and began living it.

People in his way or that interfered with his 'movie' were just actors to be removed from the stage or ignored or run over.

This situation with this man and the criminal charges are going to be interesting. He will attempt to manipulate the system, the law and even his own attorney.

The DA said that he was thought to be Michael Brown, who was known to have a criminal record. The link was posted previously in the thread.

mysteriew,

His attorney said he is trying to figure out the best way for CG/CR to get his side out to the media. Oh if only I could write!
A good writer will be able to get so much more out of this man- manipulate the manipulator straight to the truth.

mysteriew your post is spot on. This guy could have made something of himself, instead he chooses to pull cons. I suppose that gives him some kind of personal adrenalin high.

Two points though, one already brought up. His supposed "exchange student" stint. He was 17? when he left Germany. Was that BEFORE or AFTER he graduated there in Germany? One of the people in CT said they felt he was kinda old to be in High School at the time he was attending.

Second point, this guy has to have a secret stash where a copy of his birth certificate and other ID's are hidden where he could get to them in a hurry. So where do you think they are??

They are slowly but surely pulling the info out.

"The Boston Globe reported on Friday that investigators had matched Rockefeller's fingerprints to a thumbprint on immigration records submitted by Christian Karl Gerhartsreiter in the late 1970s when he was entering the United States as an exchange student."

I feel so sorry for his mother to learn of this at her age. One of the articles said that Christian was an only child for like 13-14 years and all the women, mother, Gmother, aunts, doted on him and there was limited restrictions put on his behavior. Only the father was strict. All that changed when the little brother was born.

Thanks Capoly! So if he was 17 and was part of an exchange program there should be paperwork stashed somewhere. I was wondering whether he had truly been part of an exchange program or whether he had just said he was.

Rockefeller's Boston attorney, Stephen Hrones, said at a news conference Monday that his client has acknowledged using the name Christopher Chichester while living in California, and that he remembers the Sohuses.

Hrones said Rockefeller told him that he barely knew the couple and that they left while he was still in California.Rockefeller's Boston attorney, Stephen Hrones, said at a news conference Monday that his client has acknowledged using the name Christopher Chichester while living in California, and that he remembers the Sohuses.
