Shermantine has been writing letters to JoAnn Hobson's mother and she is apparently another victim but I can't find much information about her.

On September 10, 1985, Hobson’s mother, Joan Shelley, reported her missing to San Joaquin County Sheriff deputies. Shelley told the responding deputies that Hobson, 16 years old at the time, had last been seen on August 29th, 1985, approximately 12 days before the reporting. Shelley said she became concerned when she had not heard from her daughter and reported her daughter missing.

Shelley told deputies that Hobson left sometime in the middle of the night on August 29th while Shelley was at work. Hobson did not take any extra clothing and had no money on her person. Shelley said that prior to contacting deputies, she had checked with relatives, acquaintances and Hobson’s friends throughout the east Stockton neighborhood where she and Hobson resided for sightings of her daughter.

There is a $50,000 governor’s reward offered for information leading to a conviction in this case. Contact Sheriff’s Investigations Division: 209-468-4425 or report anonymously to crime stoppers or tip soft online.

We may never know if Shermantine is telling the truth. He is enjoying this, he is in a seat of power now, just like he was when he was committing the crimes. He is such a cruel individual, I have talked to Michaela's mother, Sharon, on facebook, and he has claimed to have knowledge (but no proof) of Michaela getting abducted by Herzog, and than he claims he was "misquoted"? I can't even begin to explain the pain he is putting Sharon and her family through, as well as families of others.
I am on the panel for the DoeNetwork, and have sifted through UIDs, I must say not one on there looks like Michaela, I believe either A. She met with foul play and has yet to be found or B. She is alive, possibly adopted out or lost in human trafficking.
There has been so many different articles and sources about these two dirt bags, it gets confusing, especially with Shermantine going back and forth aka playing games. That's all this is to him, a game.

It makes me sick to think he is writing letters to her mother.

I have always been interested in the cases of Michaela Garecht, and when I heard Loren Herzog confess to her slaying and abduction, I have been following the news about it since. It's reported there's over a dozen remains in the second well they are starting to search, and possibly more burial sites.
I have been researching and have came up with a list of possible victims based on age (young women, and if Michaela is one of their victims, young girls too-I have yet to sift through missing males), hours form San Joaquin (Chevelle and Cindy, who have been identified as his victims from the first well, were taken 3 hours away from San Joaquin), and if they were taken from a town by or off of these dirt bags play ground aka I5.
I will give you the top possible victims:

*Dena Vida Mottan : Chevelle Wheeler, victim of Speed Freak Killers, was taken from Stockton, CA in 1985. Dena also vanished from the same town Chevy did, in the 1980s, the decade these guys were known to have went about their spree.

*Kimberly Ann Billy: She also vanished from Stockton where Chevy did, also in the '80s.

*Gayle Marie Marks. She vanished outside her local DMV office, from Stockton, in the 80s.

*Ruth Leaman- From Modesto, CA, vanished in the 80s. Knew Herzog.

They certainly seem to match the age range and "type" these guys were drawn to, and are so similar to Cindy and Chevelle.
...Coincidence? Or not?

Next Possible Victims are young women who went missing in a town off of I5 or whose vehicles broke down or were found near I5, not more than 3 hours from Shermantine and Herzog's homes. All missing in the 80s.

*Isabil Quair (vanished walking home from grocery store)
*Amber Schwartz Garcia (not far from the town where Michaela Garecht was abducted)
*Illene Mischeloff (not far from the town where Michaela Garecht was abducted)
*Christine Marie Sexton

Next are possible victims who vanished in the '80s, three hours away from Shermantine's residence.

*Theresa Louise Rains

*Patricia Jean Schneider
*Gail L. Cookson

Again, this is a list of possible victims. Who knows how many more burial sites they had, how many more victims were theirs. They had a full out spree for decades. There is little to no information for a great majority of the names I just listed off. You can look their profiles up at www.charleyproject.org , but circumstance information for most is very brief. On top of that, some of their victims may never have been reported missing. I read that Shermantine believes a skull they found is Joanne Hobbs, but there is no MP for her. I really do hope answers are found for these families. They've suffered enough.

Ilene Misheloff was abducted from Dublin, CA which is 15-20 miles from Hayward. I'd like some answers on her, but I personally think James Daveggio & Michelle Michaud are more likely suspects in her case, because they were trolling Pleasanton which is the very next town!

Thanks Amber. She was in the list provided by the newspaper article, so she is in this spreadsheet. I have updated the spreadsheet to sort by last name. It will be easier to see if someone is already listed here. It was a bit confusing without it being sorted.

I am anxiously awaiting news of identification of the additional remains found.

Convicted Killer Shermantine Writes A Second Letter To CBS13, names a 3rd killer.

He describes more possible victims... a hunter from Utah in '94 where he and Herzog were and knows where a pregnant black woman was dumped for or by gang members.

Once again, the letter was addressed to CBS13’s Koula Gianulias. In it, Shermantine talks about a range topics including his childhood and family, how he gets on with the other inmates in San Quentin, and what he wants his legacy to be.
He also names a third possible killer.

The letter is redacted where he states the alleged 3rd killer's full name, but as you read the letter, he refers to Herzog and "Jason".

Honestly, I don't know what to believe when it comes to Shermantine. I think he is a pathological liar, for the most part anyway.

Classmates.com lists a Jason J---- (the same name in the letter) who attended Linden High School Class of 1986. There are no 1983-1986 Linden HS yearbooks available in Classmates.

But he is approximately three years younger than Herzog and Shermantine, and went to the same High School. I would say that this is probably the same guy.

From what I read today all the Sherriff would say is no comment when asked . Of course I really don't like the way this whole thing has been handled so far from the day they brought the back hoe in.

I don't know if any of you ever watched the segment called "Freeway Killer," where the main guys William (can't remember his name-he's a real life serial killer) would look for partners in his killing sprees, by questioning them them, almost like it was a job application. If he felt the person (usually a guy younger than him) had a thrill to kill, he'd use them as a partner.
Shermantine, Herzog and "Jason" remind me of this the more I think about it, it's almost like this was their "club".

Thanbk you for the article on the new remains found....I don't want this to be Michaela, I've always just thought someone who wanted a child to love took her and that she was perhaps living happy out there somewhere...after seeing how close Herzog is to the abductor sketch...it worries me now.

So far, Shermantine's tips have led to the buried remains of Chevelle "Chevy" Wheeler, 16, who vanished in 1985, and Cyndi Vanderheiden, 26, who vanished in 1998.

Deputies also await the identification of six femurs pulled from a Linden well in February on Flood Road. The state's Department of Justice is doing DNA analysis.

Up in Calaveras County is where "Hippie Pat" was killed and buried in 1989, Shermantine said. That well is on Hawver Road, not far from Leonard Road, where Shermantine's late parents lived in a luxury home.
