Official press release from the police department says she was located in a dumpster on the property and that they sealed off a residence at the complex as they are obtaining a search warrant to gather evidence. I wonder if she was kept in the residence they have sealed off and then taken to the dumpster in the middle of the night? If so it might explain why there was no more video of her outside after 5:00.

Thank you for posting this link. The comment thread includes discussion regarding a vigil tonight. The admin at SCPD asked for more details, and the commenters responded that it will be tonight at The Tannery at dark (but they expect people to start gathering at 8PM)

Bessie, I was just wondering...does or has the WS platform or the forum or its members - support crowd sourcing/funding for victims we follow? I am following three heartbreaking threads: this one, Lonzie in Jacksonville, FL and Crystal Rogers. I just have this need to help somehow. Your thoughts please? Thank you in advance. And Thank You!!! for this wonderful site and community. (and sorry for going off topic).

Santa Cruz itself is at sea level- the Pacific Ocean is 2 miles away, but there are residential mountain areas that are extremely close by, like within 10 min. drive.

Sorry, I meant the elevation where DeOrr's parents were. My comment wasn't written very clearly.

Sorry this might be too much information for some people and I understand that but I also think it's informative and needs to be considered.

I was at a conference last year and saw a documentary by Gail Dines called "Pornland" (she also has a book of the same name). Now I'm definitely not naive but what I saw in that film absolutely sickenend me. Boys (and its predominantly boys) as young as 10, but on a average 12, being able to access 🤬🤬🤬🤬. And we aren't talking about "soft core" 🤬🤬🤬🤬 here. Apparently free sites allow anyone to go and view 🤬🤬🤬🤬 of the most disgusting nature. And because parents don't talk to their kids enough about sex and 🤬🤬🤬🤬 especially the attitudes of younger people are changing. There is a category of 🤬🤬🤬🤬 called Gonzo and it's awful. It's portrayed as "point of view" 🤬🤬🤬🤬, but it's basically just awful violence against women with choking, putting the girl's head down the toilet so she's practically drowning, bukake, and deep throat. The 🤬🤬🤬🤬 that young kids can access is horrific. It's nothing more than the violation, degredation and abuse of young women for the man's benefit. And if young boys see this, and combine it with messages from music stars who talk about "hoes" and smacking women, and see sports stars beating up their girlfriends and getting away with it then that's what they believe is acceptable.

These 🤬🤬🤬🤬 companies are financed by "household name" companies. They are like drug dealers. They entice young boys in with "free" 🤬🤬🤬🤬 and then make them pay for the harder and harder stuff. Meanwhile doctors are now seeing more and more young girls with anal prolapse, vaginal prolapse and severe throat infections because boys are recreating what they see on 🤬🤬🤬🤬 and what they believe normal sex is.

It was the most unbelievable thing I have ever seen. It opened my eyes up massively to the damage 🤬🤬🤬🤬 does to our society. We need to teach our boys and girls from a young age that these things aren't acceptable. That a male orgasm is not the priority above a woman's dignity and respect. And that women are not all "🤬🤬🤬🤬 stars" who have the airbrushed figures and who look like a human Barbie. I have teenage girls but after I saw the film I sat them down and we talked about the problems with 🤬🤬🤬🤬, and they spoke about how boys in their class admitted openly to watching 🤬🤬🤬🤬 channels and then some had persuaded their girlfriends to try things they had seen. Luckily my girls are more bothered about school and grades than boys but I still think it's important to discuss.

STANDING OVATION. This should be on billboards across the nation. You have absolutely summed up the problem here in one sentence.

It is my very deep belief that at the very tender ages of reaching puberty when boys are so amazingly impressionable about anything that achieves sexual gratification for them and it never leaves them. The age of puberty is very young and their little brains are not even remotely ready to comprehend most of all of this.

In the immature state; if they are allowed to believe that their wants are of the utmost importance, their entire future will be one of ego, dominance and self-centered behavior.

Even at that though, thinking of the millions of spoiled, 'baby-men' out there, very few go on to murder out of sexual frustration. So there must be more to the wiring in the brain.

I live in a 3-story apartment building that has a trash chute on all 3 floors. It leads to a very large trash container (I could easily imagine it being referred to as a "dumpster") in the basement/indoor parking garage. But it is in a small, unmarked room that only maintenance/management has access to. There are also two regular dumpsters in the parking lot - so maybe it wasn't immediately obvious to the searchers that there was another one indoors OR he was able to quickly use it after the initial search without being seen? Pure speculation.

Not sure if this is accurate, but this photo caption says it's of the dumpster where she was found...

We don't know anything about this 15 yr old. He could be mentally ill, have a fixation on death, there could be other things than watching 🤬🤬🤬🤬. I don't know too many 15 yr olds who watch CNN and daytime TV like their grandmas do where they will see the type of commercials mentioned upstream. Teens are on the Internet, on their phones. Content doesn't make a normal kid into a cold blooded killer, there's usually something going on inside the kid already.

A mod would be better able to answer this...

But... WS has a policy to not become involved in any funding having to do with any of the cases...

In my opinion... I have seen too many funding accounts set up... And then there is little to no accounting as to where that money goes to...

therefore... Again, IMO,... I would try to find another method of helping and/or showing you care...

For instance...sending a thoughtful note to the family...

Etc...

ALL... JMO...

I love auto-correct. :) Always worth a giggle.

Excuse the interruption to the conversation, but sometimes a silly laugh is a refreshing break.

In a startling statistic, Klaas points out that almost 1 in 5 children are murdered by other children. A 15-year-old suspect has been arrested in Maddy’s murder, on suspicion of homicide.

Most of these statistics come from school shootings,
but in a case like Maddy’s it’s important to stay in public places while playing. It’s also always ok to ask people for help. If a child is in trouble, tell them to ask help from a woman.

I agree wholeheartedly.

I remember reading somewhere that 93% of boys had been exposed to online 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 during their adolescence and also quite a high number for girls as well. This is changing the wiring of their minds because they grow up thinking that what they are seeing is normal and expected. This is all they know when they see women and girls think that is how a man is supposed to be. It is forever changing them because they cannot unsee what they have seen so as they grow up and partake in relationships - this is all they know. They think the female anatomy should be what they see in 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 and that women should be treated how they have grown up seeing it happen. This is a HUGE problem. People who think otherwise are absolutely delusional - what one child first sees cannot be undone. And as you posted - this isn't just playboy stuff. Think of a young, impressionable mind being exposed to such and then let that grow and grow and then as you posted - combine it with misogynistic lyrics in all music and violent video games - it is a perfect storm that results in crimes like this.

I have a 12.5 year old son and we have all our computers locked up tight with k-9 as well as internet turned off his phone that he JUST got with a code that only my husband knows. However, I still worry about what videos other kids could text him. I wish 🤬🤬🤬🤬 was outlawed. I know it's a free country, but it's causing so many problems. Also, video games. We only allow E for everyone and only on the weekends, but I'm not certain he's not sneaking things through amazon.com at other kids' homes who have smart TVs. We are so technologically advanced it's getting impossible to keep up. So what do we do, just keep telling parents you have to police your kids so adults can keep having their sadistic 🤬🤬🤬🤬 and murder characters in character through super realistic video games?!! Not to mention these games and 🤬🤬🤬🤬 are ruining grown men as well as our teens. Families being torn up by 🤬🤬🤬🤬 addictions and the man next door becoming a rapist or pedophile like its a hobby such as golf. There's NO good that comes from 🤬🤬🤬🤬 and realistically violent video games, so why not outlaw it. And no, I'm not a Glenn beck follower. I still think we should protect the right to bear arms but why keep 🤬🤬🤬🤬 around? I mourn for my children. The world they are growing up in is so so evil and twisted.

It is my opinion that these teenagers are saddled with a great deal of anger and lash out at the most innocent of victims because they resent them. In some cases, I believe they want to hurt the families more so than the children. These kids often have a family member who has walked out of their lives.

By the way, teenage boys have been looking at 🤬🤬🤬🤬 for a long, long time. It might not be good for society. But I doubt that it is to blame for this kind of violence against children.

BBM. They certainly have. But they haven't had the instant access to thousands of images for a long, long time. It's so easy to go down a 🤬🤬🤬🤬 rabbit hole now. Young boys (even before teen years) have instant access to child 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬, violent 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬, etc. Right at their fingertips, anytime they have access to the internet, or anytime their friends have access. This is certainly new to history. I truly believe that we have a huge amount of boys (and girls) who are growing up with ready access to dark and violent sexual content, like never before.

Hi GutInstinct. WS has a very strict policy against becoming involved in fundraising in any way, shape or form. That means no mention of fundraising campaigns, or linking to fundraising sites, at all. I appreciate your sentiments and desire to help, but when it comes to fundraising, WS isn't the place.

Glad you like the site. Happy to have you as one of the gang. :)

Can you post a link where the neighbors are describing the suspect?

Is it a fact that 🤬🤬🤬🤬 is/was a factor in this case? Haven't read that anywhere else but here.

It's not a fact.
And personally, I think brainstorming on the facts we know is far, far different than inventing fiction with no evidence or information whatsoever. It's an exercise in creative writing, IMO.

Well, I don't have any concrete statistics, but I agree and disagree. Yes, SOME teenage boys have always looked at 🤬🤬🤬🤬. In the past, that was limited to the ones who had a family member that either had magazines, VHS tapes, or subscribed to speciality channels on late night TV. My parents never had such, and my brothers were not allowed to spend the night anywhere, so the most they ever got to see was the intimate section in the JCPenney catalog. We had a computer but no Internet, so it was only good for playing in MS DOS paint and Oregon Trail. My guess would be that less than half of all teenage boys had REGULAR access to 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬. (In the 80s and 90s)

Now? It's in every boys' hand, 24hrs a day. You combat it by talking with them, Internet filtering, and parent controls. It's on YouTube, FB, and Instagram searches. It's online, and on television. Heck, just the names of some of the 🤬🤬🤬 shows as you are browsing through the satellite make me blush, and I'm a nurse who is very comfortable with the human body. I would estimate that less that 10% of teens don't have easy, regular access. We think it's bad now? Wait until this generation of smart phone users reach adulthood. The thought scares me.

“I’ve known him for a long time. He was a nice kid,” Terrence Keller, another neighbor, told NBC Bay Area. “He was very well spoken for his age. He was seemingly a nice guy. So it’s a very unfortunate circumstance, to say the least.”

According to Cartabiano, the two children — victim and alleged killer — were close.

“They were great friends, that’s what makes it so ludicrous,” she told The Post.
“I’m shocked. I’m numb.”

I agree.... sad that when its a teen perp you almost never hear things like "Oh he was an awful kid, I knew he would do something like this." You always hear how shocked those who know and love him are.... sad, sad, sad.... sad ALL AROUND!
And yet his neighbors describe him as kind and nice and good with a yo-yo. I think he was an opportunist. He saw a little girl left unattended and went for her.

But...,sometimes I do keep the auto-corrected terms in because they can be pretty funny! :D
