Disturbing question

Was she raped "classically" or only by instrument? Couldn't really pick that up from what I read.

Both, so I read.

Lol, no, it means "taking a break". When kids get frustrated and upset or cannot control their bodies, they are (or were, back then) asked to take a break and come sit. Or "sit out".

It is still obviously something a child feels stigmatized about, even if it is done to give the child a chance to "chill".

In my own classroom, I will usually invite a child to come sit with me while we work over a lesson. Sometimes we just work, sometimes I will open up the dialogue so they can talk to me about what is upsetting them. It depends on the child and the situation. But it is always a private invitation, not intended to make an "example" of the child, but to offer one-on-one time.

Your children must be very lucky students! I wish more teachers took such a compassionate and thoughtful approach.

Has anyone seen reports of how well the families may have known each other? One newscast I saw said they live in adjacent buildings but now I can't find it. It seem possible, even likely, that Maddy's mom knows Adrian and his mother, and Adrian's mom knew Maddy too. With all the talk of him possibly grooming or targeting Maddy, and the fact that this happened in less than an hour, why did he pick HER over any other child outside that day or before? Her mother said she was only alone momentarily, she didn't appear to spend large amounts of time outside unsupervised, did the prior relationship affect why he chose her/that day?

I guess I'm just trying to wrap my head around the "why" in the hopes that it will help us as a society prevent crimes like this in the future.

IIRC Maddy and her mom live one floor above AJ. IMO I suspect he had been thinking, fantasizing, planning, something like this for awhile. That Sunday just happened to be what he considered his perfect opportunity, when he looked out and saw a little girl all alone, playing on her scooter. I don't suspect he personally targeted Maddy. I believe any little girl would have become his victim when the timing was just right, a crime of opportunity. A little girl alone, him being home alone and knowing how long he was going to be alone, giving him enough time to carry out his sick, perverted fantasy. He likely had raging hormones, perhaps he been shunned, made fun of, or had rude and demeaning things said to him which he took too personal, if he had made "passes" at girls around his own age, leaving him with some sort of resentment against females. That age is a very awkward age where they sexually and physically maturing but not emotional and logic maturing. But that's JMO.

AJ is a pedophile, don't think he was interested in girls his own age.

On his now-deleted IG account there was a recently posted video of him and a beautiful girl skate boarding, having a great time. When I saw his old FB account, I looked through his friends and found an account of one who looked like this girl. I wasn't sleuthing her, obviously, but she stuck out when I saw her. I felt so so bad for her.
She's a relative, right? Although it could be coincidence that she has the same last name.

Thanks for putting the howling wolf video back up Sorrel Skye! I took it outside and let it howl for me at the huge red moon (thanks to wildfires) rising in the east here in Southern Oregon.

I was thinking about what you said earlier as well . About the joy he got from this perversion.

Looking at the different things about psychopaths posted in here, one of the things is that they are not worried about getting caught. They think they will get away with it. I think he thinks he was going to use his adorable I am so sad, sweet and suicidal to get out of his little whoopsie.

I do wonder why he ran though. He was riight there when they found her. Why run? Or is that part of his act somehow?

I think he ran when he realized that LE was onto him. I think self-preservation kicked in and he realized his 'show' was over.

I don't think he thought about getting away with it - I think he only thought about his immediate gratification (reveling in the self-perceived glory of his evil deeds), and when that had run its course, he did what any guilty perp does - he tried to protect himself. He's not very smart, IMO.

A 15-year-old boy charged as an adult with raping and killing his 8-year-old neighbor in California is too young to understand what he is accused of doing, youth advocacy groups said Friday.
...
“There is no way on earth that a 15-year-old could have fully comprehended what he was doing,” said Barry Krisberg, a University of California, Berkeley criminologist who has long been involved with juvenile law in California.

“He might be able to recount the events that resulted, but the notion that he comprehended the consequences of his action flies in the face of all the science we know,” Krisberg said.
...
Harriet Salarno, board chairwoman of Crime Victims United of California, supported the prosecutors’ decision to try Gonzalez as an adult.

“This young man knew what he was doing,” she said. “He had planned it, he knew her. It wasn’t just in the heat of passion or anything. It should be tried and let the jury decide.”

I've had to delete my thoughts three times now - let's just say I'm not on board with the advocates.

FIFTEEN Year olds know exactly what they are doing when they rape and kill a child. They are not confused, or unsure, about what they are doing. They completely and fully 'comprehend' what is happening when they strangle a child. And to say otherwise is disgusting, IMO.

Too young to understand what he is accused of doing?????

Has the bar been lowered so much that society can't expect that a 15 year old should know that luring, raping, bludgeoning, strangling, and murdering an 8 year old little girl is not only WRONG, but EVIL?????

He isn't a toddler for crying out loud! He's 15 years old. At his developmental stage, he knows right from wrong. IMO, Barry Krisberg is an idiot - I don't care if he graduated from Berkeley.

I went to UC Berk. And believe me, there are some idiots there. For real. Lots of hare brained ideas come out of UC.

I think he was interested in 13 to 15 yr olds. I think he wanted to have a girlfriend his age. But he was awkward, weird, and out of touch. I think he went after little girls because he was a sick coward and he could control them easier. JMO

Where I come from, those are called time-outs. Though I'm not sure they are given in schools. I do know many parents using them at home though.

Now I'm curious - do you have to be a certain age to be a pedophile?

I thought this was more about control/violence/torture and less about sexual attraction.
