800 is a lot of posters to be gone, especially those in store windows. We have had a lot of rain, both day and night, this week. If they weren't somewhat water resistant many might have dissolved.

Can someone please post Maricela's MP poster again?

So a very short blurb aired on KCAL. Quick interview with Sarah insisting Maricela was not voluntarily missing and some footage on the group. Most importantly, Maricela's face was on the screen for a bit.
So, since this aired on tv, won't there be a story on their website?

I have only followed a few cases her at Websleuths but none have touched me as much as this. The support I've seen for Maricela here is truly amazing. I'm in awe of our fellow members who were able to be there tonight. I will sleep soundly tonight knowing we have such a tight network here. Prayers for all our lost!

Just returned from the vigil. It was a great success. Lots of people, saw CBS news truck and cameraman---met Lees and her sister, and Mistivon and her wonderful husband. Misti did an awesome job trying to herd the crowd and keep us all on track.

I took a lot of pictures but I am useless when it comes to posting them,.I will try though...

I met a lot of amazing, compassionate people from all over. I did meet some of MG's family there, who were very concerned and committed. There was quite a crowd--I am guessing 40 or more at least?

Misti had it well organized. Her husband took a lot of photos. we walked her apparent path and tried got imagine what happened. It is hard to compare it though because it was a clear night tonight-with no rain. So it was a very crowded, well lit area at the start of her journey. But if it was rainy, it may have been way less crowded.

I wish the LAPD had been there---but who knows, maybe they had someone there on the down low?

This sounds amazing katydid! I've been reading along since the start but not posting. Something about Maricela has really touched me and I'm hoping against hope she will be found safe. Mistivon.......you amaze me! And to all of you who have contributed so much to finding Maricela...............:tyou: :yourock:

One more thing. Dad said the detective told him that if I kept getting the media involved, I could get her killed. Am I doing the wrong thing? Am I signing this girl's death warrant. I see it as the more people that see her face, the more people that might have seen her or know where she is or have SOME kind of information. Maybe someone will see the news and remember something important. Or maybe they will see her and call in....what do you guys think? I would never forgive myself if I caused something bad to happen :(

Was this a police detective or the private detective? If the former, I *might* give credence to this assuming the case was being actively investigated (which it does not seem to be).

If it was the PI that has not yet been hired by the family, I personally wouldn't give it a second thought. Unless the PI is willing to take the case pro bono, then he/she has a financial incentive to suggest things are being handled wrong and they can fix it - for a fee. JMHO

You didn't/won't cause something bad to happen. something bad already happened: a beautiful young woman is separated from her family. That's the focus. You, mistivon, are doing a great thing.

This was the MPU detective that told the dad that.
There was a PI there who does a lot of pro bono work. He came on his own time because he is interested in maybe helping the family. He said there are 500 sex offenders in Reseda. It looks like this was a crime of opportunity. The PI who has been talking to the family, the one I've had issues with, she didn't come. She didn't come to the search, either. If I was interested in taking a case, I definitely would have been there tonight. I like the one I met. I hope he helps this family

Im calling BS! JMO. Their pissed you're making them look bad. Especially after they put out a statewide APB and alerted nationwide media for what now looks like a young attractive women from Colorado who went missing voluntarily. Although maybe she'll say she was abducted by two Mexican women. Idk. If they don't know where she is or what's happened to her, or have a collar on a suspect then I'm calling their bluff. I hope the LEO left that threat on a recorded message.

The only reason I can think of for them to say that is if they know something. And if they do know something then FFS let the family know. If they haven't warned family to keep quit then they don't know squat so keep doing what you're doing. IMO
Mistovon: Please confirm 'Detective':
PD or PI?

Dad said Detective Guevara said that all the coverage was bad for Maricela. Maybe it is. Or, like someone pointed out, which was also my thought, maybe it just makes them look bad. I mean if they have some kind of concrete evidence that she is voluntarily missing, walked away doing a happy dance and KNOW she's safe now, then why not just tell the family that? Why not put out a press release just saying they have evidence...they don't have to say what it is but explain why they are not pursuing this. They MUST have something. But even if they have her on video getting willingly into a car, that's not reason to not search. Don't they need to locate her for her family so they can say she is safe and doesn't want to come home? Something? I just don't understand. The same detective on Maricela's case was over Laura Stacy's. Boy, now she got a team on that girl and they were ALL out searching. Why? Remember we thought they knew something we didn't...found something at the park or something. Now it seems that wasn't the case. How are the two different? I.just.don't.get.it.

Exactly - PD can't consult now and expect community buy in when they've been completely seemingly defiant previously. SPILL THOSE BEANS IF YOU HAVE THEM

What is LE trying to cover up? What do they know? Is a LEO involved? Thier intimidating threats of doom seem more like a typical spin tactic to divert negative attention.

So 9 did a short blurb, 2 did an even quicker story but Univision was AMAZING. Sadly, I couldn't understand what he was saying, lol, but Dad and Sarah were both interviewed and there was a lot of video of the walk and the crowd. Wish it was online somewhere. If anyone comes across any online stories from anyone, please post them. I can't search tonight :( I'm getting the pictures uploaded now...because we got a lead while we were behind Jons, there are no pictures of where the cigarette/phone was found. I'm really disappointed because I would also like you to get a feel for the back parking lot. Maybe we will go back tomorrow night. Aside from that, there are pictures throughout the walk so you can kinda see what she saw. Coming soon...but there's alot. Wonder how many I can put in each post lol

We need to find Maricela. She did not voluntary leave. The dogs successfully tracked her scent. The route you drew on the map makes sense to the scenario we've come up with, which is that she was being followed and whomever was after her was persistent and caught her. The question now is, where is she now?

That LA LE is shamed. And they should be. Understaffed or not, they can't just pretend crimes aren't happening and ignore the victims or their families. They took an oath to PROTECT AND SERVE. It doesn't matter if they care or not, we the people are paying them to do a job and by God they better get to it. This needs to go as far up the ladder as it can. I might even say the governor. If the current staff of LE isn't willing to do what needs to get done, then we need new staff. Period.

mistivon, I'm a little worried about you. Please do not despair. You are bringing hope to a family. If they ask you to stop, then you should stop because this is their daughter. If they do not ask you to stop, then you should follow your instincts. To be honest, after this vigil I can't think of a lot else you can do other than actually becoming the PI. Not recommended btw.

You ou have behaved in the most heroic and selfless manner, and your efforts, passion, compassion and instincts are admirable. I feel so much love pouring out of you... In here.... This flat, black & white words on a paper forum..... No tone, no inflection, just a 2D surface that doesn't allow for emotion to spill on to it. But I swear it, I feel it here. You are so invested though, I worry about your own state as much as the family's. It hurts to be helpless. I know, and I am so sorry for that. But when you lay your head down, you have to know you have exhausted every possibility that you are able. It's all we can do sweetie. We can only do our best.

The cold hard facts are that whomever disappeared Maricela has already killed her if they are going to. If she is trafficked she will get sold out of state, which probably already happened also, if that's why she was taken. Putting her face out there is all we can do. It's all we have. It has to be the right thing.

Gaining media attention helps the next girl too. This isn't just about Maricela anymore. This is about all of our daughters and sisters who could be saved from being violated or harmed. I'm going to say it again... You are amazing. And now you have two more amazing counterparts to bounce thoughts off of. You've all been there, you've all walked Maricelas footsteps. You all have gut instincts. You are all smart, thoughtful, and typically on point. Thank you all, for all you've done.

I feel like the posters being torn down is a lot less sinister than what others are thinking. I have a feeling a local business, or property management themselves have decided that this media frenzy will interfere with their businesses, their income, their livelihoods. It sounds like a bustling place, which surprises me because the area seems super sketchy to me. So if it suddenly become unsafe to shop and walk, money disappears from their pockets. Jmo

I saw the channel 2 blurb. It was short, but at least it was in the early part of the news. And they showed her picture for awhile, and a nice video of all the people at the vigil.

GigTu. I love you. That is all.
OK not really. I'm so tired but I'm going to get all these pics up before I go to bed. Remember we did not get the back of the Jons parking lot, which I think is significant since she was back there and that's where her phone was. Mr Mistivon was the photographer and he got called to interview a potential witness so no pictures. However, he will go back one night this weekend and take some.
Annnnnd, after all this, I keep getting a file failed when I try to upload. Does anyone want to upload them for me if I email them to you with descriptions? ugh, this is making me crazy :( What is this little red exclamation point :(
Should I put them on FB?

  • #999
I'm uploading them to her missing page if anyone can link it. When I finally get these done, I'm going to bed. I have to get up in five hours :(
