I can't tell from Google Maps, but I think one can probably see the Kaiser building / sign from in front of Goodwill. Maybe somebody was calling her repeatedly and she didn't want to answer in front of her sister. So she walked outside, called them back, and told them to meet her at the Kaiser building away from her sister. She had time to kill waiting for them so she stopped at the church along the way. She went to the front of the Kaiser building, but the other party did not want to be seen and stayed in the back of the parking lot. They could have called/texted her from there to come meet in the back of the parking lot.

Yes, I was thinking maybe whomever she was meeting up with might have a distinctive vehicle.

This is what the timeline looks like right now. This looks like there is a lot more to the story. Sarah thinks her sister was running/hiding from someone that night

Approximately 01/09/17: Maricela tells her sister she has a secret but she won't elaborate. She cries and hugs her sister. She slept next to her for the next few days.

01/12/17: Approximately 3:30 PM and 5:00 PM in Venice Beach, Maricela makes two deliveries for Postmates, leaving her sister in the car. She is in and out quickly and no change in mood.

01/12/17: Approximately 6:50 PM. Maricela and her sister enter Goodwill in Reseda to browse.
07:20 PM: Maricela tells her sister she needs a cigarette and will be right back.
07:22 PM: Maricela leaves GW and is captured on camera walking toward her car/99 Cent Store

Approximately 7:45 PM: Sarah goes outside and does not see Maricela. She waits by the car thinking she will be right back.
Approximately 8:00 PM: Sarah becomes more worried because it is dark and raining and the car is locked. She goes into the 99 Cent Store and into Payless but no one has seen Maricela. She asks to use the phone in Payless because her phone is dead and was turned away.
Approximately 8:15 PM: Sarah goes into the chapel of Catherine of Siena Catholic Church. The two women in there tell her they saw Maricela approximately 25 - 30 minutes prior. She "stormed out" looking upset or worried. They ask Sarah if Maricela was sick.
Approximately 8:25 PM: Sarah sees two men outside the stores. They are "sketchy" and give her a bad vibe. One of them asks for the time and wants to know if her phone is dead.
Approximately 8:30 PM: Sarah goes into 7-11 and inquires about Maricela but no one has seen her. She waits there until 8:45 PM when her ride arrives.
I don't think Maricela's "secret" is relevant to her going missing. I don't think she was meeting anyone.

I do think this timeline is important. This bolded section is vital to sleuth and find out more about. These two were up to no good. Why in the world would someone randomly ask a pretty young girl if her phone was dead, in a dark parking lot, in the rain, with no one else around? Super sketchy.

I do believe Maricela left to smoke, and was approached by someone(s) as soon as she stepped out of the store. I think they saw the girls go in, and waited for their opportunity. Predators. I think she got away from them and went into the church. I think she saw them again, and went out to get away. They continued to follow her. I think in her panic, she took out her phone to make a call or text, and they nearly caught up to her... And she dropped her phone. She then started running, was a little lost in her panic, realized she was going the wrong way so doubled back towards Sherman. I think they continued to follow her, flushed her out, got her cornered, and finally caught her and pulled her back to the dumpsters. This is because of the zigzag pattern the dogs detected in the Kaiser lot.

I think the second person disabled and broke the phone, then also went and got a car and drove it into the kaiser parking lot to retrieve Maricela and the other person.

I think the cameras from all the stores, hospitals and banks must have footage. If the police down there aren't pulling an all out search by now, they should be sued and absolutely shamed. I hope Nancy Grace gets involved and does just that. We need to find Maricela before it's too late.... And before these people take more girls.

Maricela looks so different in each picture to me. This is the picture of her on the LAPDBLOG. http://www.lapdonline.org/west_valley_community_police_station/news_view/61678

This seems to be her Driver's License picture. I think most of the others look somewhat similar but I agree this picture always stood out to me as looking like a different person. I think heavier makeup can turn her into a kind of chameleon.

If the ex is not in jail, I think he is prime suspect #1. I find the likelihood of M being abducted twice so hard to imagine, but being abducted twice by the same lunatic, I can get behind that.

snipped and bbm

There was a case here a while ago where just this happened. The ex (I believe) had kidnapped her before (I think he got off with a slap on the wrist), and then did it a second time and killed her. I'm sorry I can't remember the names.

I'd like to see the 2 phone situation nailed down with the sister. Is she sure that Maricela had both phones with her at the goodwill? Was the phone that was playing music over and over until Maricela turned it off the one that Maricela was using for calls? I assume it was, but should be confirmed.

It appears that she had a go phone. For those who aren't aware, it's a cheap prepaid type phone. So it makes perfect sense why she would carry two. One was for actual calls or texts. The other had a browser so she could access the internet.

I am not sure that the other phone has no wifi. I looked up ATT Go-phones. All of the ones I saw listed had browsers.

Her mom and sister both noticed something was bothering her in the days before. Her mom also mentions something about her getting a phone call. I do think she had a secret and that it was something she may have felt ashamed of. She didn't tell it to anyone, cried and slept next to her sister. Something was up and they noticed.

I think the idea of a photoshoot meetup is a good one.
She lived at home, didn't work much and was a homebody. It's very likely she spent lots of time online on her modelling sites searching out a photoshoot opportunity.
Does her sister remember her mentioning any? Or a time where she was gone for a few hours with a packed bag of outfits and stuff?
She could have become involved with someone shady where things went too far. Some risky photos/videos taken that she later regretted and wanted to back out of any deal made? Maybe money was involved or it was a collaboration, but a disagreement that got way out of hand and led to threats or even blackmail.

I also still think she did receive a call or text in GW (a threatening one) and she just fibbed to her sister to not involve her.
Jmo.

But if only one was active to make calls from then it still explains why she would want to carry two.
Sometimes just because a phone has a browser, doesn't mean it isn't junky. I see lots of kids carrying around IPhones just to play games and use the browser but then make calls on a cheap prepaid. ( Because the nice phone isn't activated)
So it really could be either way but my point is that I've saw plenty of young people who don't have a lot of money, carry around two phones for the reasons described above.

Also, when were these phones acquired? If the music was a ringtone, it's odd the sister didn't recognize it as such. Unless Maricela just acquired a new phone.

That is a very believable scenario. It all makes sense except for one thing that really confuses me about that night. If she was scared of being chased or followed, why didn't she tell the people in the church----ask them to call for help? Why wouldn't she trust 2 ladies in the church to help her before she ran into the dar parking lot all alone?

She also could have called or texted her sister from the Jon's or the church to say she was being followed. Can't believe she told nobody and just charged back out into the night twice if was being followed / felt threatened. Way more likely she was in those locations killing time and avoiding her sister until her meeting (LA traffic is terrible).

Have not read back n no time to stay. The ex is NOT in jail. He commented on the page. I rushed to let brother know and was told that it wasn't him because he lives in a neighboring state and had been seen all that week.
Last week they were sure it was him. I don't know if the police looked at him closely if they assume she ran off. I don't know.
I feel like I'm in the twilight zone

He could have gotten someone else to take her and bring her to him...

Anybody else here have an ex repeatedly call you until you had to turn your phone off? I've been there..

And he had tips for the family. Said he knew how to get phone records without police. Wonder if he means hers specifically

If he wanted to help them get her phone records, then maybe he knows his numbers are not on them?

YES. He could have set it all up, and just sat back, with his own alibi to protect him.
