Do we know of the city In which the ex is currently in? Is it possible to have made the drive overnight? It's possible the two other gentleman were a distraction... maybe mg was stressing about reuniting w her criminal ex. Abusive relationships can sometimes become an addiction of their own.... mg may have been in the church waiting for the text to meet me now,,, looked sick or worried about parting from family.... for someone she knows they will disapprove... sorry for another theory but felt the need to speak my thoughts....

I know and I should just accept it. But I do have some doubts. It is not the kind of necklace one wears under winter clothing on a rainy day.

Maybe she did wear it every day. But it was not mentioned on the Missing Poster, so I do wonder if she did have it on that day. And those chokers are sold by the thousands in LA. All they found was the thin black part, no stone. So one cannot really say if it was hers or not. Or even if it was a choker.

It would not be unusual to find a tattered black choker cord near a dumpster because there are literally thousands of them in the city. My daughter and all of her friends wear them and own them.

I just don't want to base an entire theory or scenario upon a tattered piece of black cord if we do not even know if she was wearing it that day. I wonder if her sister saw her wearing it?

My daughter has chokers that she wears year round - even during winter when it's well below freezing. So I have my doubts that the temperature would influence whether or not Maricela would wear a choker. I think it's best to rule pretty much anything reasonable in until LE can rule it out.

So are you saying you think they're involved, or it could be an unrelated attempted robery?

code4SAR

I'm saying just because they are sketchy didn't necessarily strike me as being involved with her disappearance. I'm saying there might be a reason for asking if a phone was dead (actually wanting the time, ready to grab it and run) other than "knowing" that she and her sister both had dead phones and they were sticking around to let her know they were on to her (and Mari) and were involved in the disappearance. I personally think it is less likely that they were involved.

Agreed. Frankly, I'd be surprised if a pretty young girl standing around a car by herself for 20 minutes in a marginal area like that didn't attract some kind of male attention.

She was definitely wearing the choker. And the fabric looked like a part of her choker, right width, right color, appeared to be the right fabric. But it could also have been, idk, the end of a sleeve or the hem of a coat. We did not pick it up and inspect it, etc, in case it WAS her choker and evidence.
I have only spoken very briefly with the family today. They are going through a crisis that has nothing to do with Maricela and for the time being, I am giving them their space. I'm following up on the vigil and some media but I am not starting anything new right now. Pretty much the dad is doing everything and there was a WHOLE lot for him to do yesterday.
AFAIK, LE is making no attempt at phone/delivery records, despite imo, those being two of the first things that should have been done.
Dad made the rounds of all/most of the businesses yesterday but I am under the impression he has not viewed any footage yet. Apparently, these places don't keep the video onsite and I am not familiar with what the process is for retrieving it from another location or wherever it would be. He was like a bulldog yesterday but I have no idea what his response would be if he met resistance. Again, I am giving them a little room until I see some interest from them.
I feel like I am letting everyone down, including myself. I wish I didn't have a job I was behind in and a house that needed cleaning and kids that needed to be taxied everywhere. I really wish I could go and get the footage myself and sit at the police station until they did something, or even just go hang flyers and look around every other night or so. Unfortunately, I'm not in a position to do that and I guess it really isn't my place at all.
I truly hope the family takes action and pushes things to get done because I'm afraid if they don't, all this will fade away. I don't want to come to this thread a year from now with no answers and no clue as to where this sweet girl it is. The thought of that breaks my heart.
I will come here the second I learn anything. Please keep helping her. Even without new information, hopefully something will come of what we have.
Thank you all

Mistivon I understand your frustrations completely and I'd feel the same exact way if I where in your shoes.

I'm so sorry to intrude, but if this was So unlike her sister, why didn't Sarah call the police that night 1/12..?

  • #708
NO WAY. You have not let anyone down. Far from it. You have moved mountains. It cannot all be on your shoulders. You got the ball rolling and now the family is going to keep it going. Please don't feel you have let anyone down at all. :grouphug:

So, the interview I did with Alan Duke last night will be on Nancy Grace's podcast tomorrow! Sorry to say, I've never listened to it so am off to figure out the details.
Thank you so much to everyone who got in touch with them!

Mistivon, just caught your latest post - Hands down, I've read every single word in this thread, as have many others - YOU have engaged every single one of us. MG's disappearance would already be dust in the wind without you.
You my dear, are a rare breed - The most precious kind.

Oh wow. Tell me all these girls are coincidences:

http://losangeles.cbslocal.com/2017/01/24/woman-28-goes-missing-in-hollywood-hills/

Stacy’s mother told CBS2 her phone was found in Golden Valley Park in Santa Clarita, although that was not confirmed with LAPD. According to her mother, she resided in Burbank with a female roommate.

Can we get more information on her to see if there are similarities? I tried looking but I couldn't find a websleuth page.

She did call the police that night.

But did she call police immediately? From everything I've read, Sarah called a 'ride'. At 711.
If Sarah knew nothing, and this was so out of character for Maricela - Then Why would Sarah just leave her sister.

Absolutely right!

There are many ways to contribute to a cause you believe in, and getting the ball rolling is fundamental.

Sarah was alone and didn't know what to do. She went home and got her dad. They went back to the car and called the police. I see your point but you have to know this family. These girls are very, sheltered, for lack of a better word. Sarah is.....fragile. I absolutely see Sarah being terrified, not knowing what to do, and going home to get Daddy for help. It was not because she was unconcerned or thought Maricela ran off. According to her, she knew immediately something bad happened. She has to be taken care of...I just can't explain it. You would get it if you met her.

I completely understand. We all have known or met people, or at last heard about people, that make choices that we find hard to understand. It all goes back to each person's personality. We all don't make the same choices in every situation.

You've done an incredible job helping this family - more than a lot of people would have done.

Ok, then who was Sarah's ride? Why didn't she call her Dad right then?
Speculating based on 3rd party input is tough, purely based on third party output... But where the family doesn't openly acknowledge the efforts of others because they are guarded.
Look, I'm in Illinois, but I can talk to people. As in like psychology and human resources....
Something is wrong here, it doesn't fit in a way that's off putting to me. Hence the reason I broke my silence in this thread.
Mistivon please let me know if I can help, I know you need a break.
Between the family and police right now, and the statement you made around something else going on with the family.... something is Wrong, that something else, if not tied to their missing daughter is taking priority over THEIR MISSING DAUGHTER.
Right?

Ok, then please don't speculate. It's fine. I can't divulge what the family is going through. Like someone said, everyone handles things differently. Maybe I don't understand it or agree, but it's their family. It's not mine. I can answer the questions but I have already answered them. I'm not sure what the point is?
