I just talked to Detective Palmer. Wow. Okay, so here is the deal. Of course my next question is can I post this publicly.
First of all, she was snotty. lol. I was trying to be completely nice.
She says Maricela is NOT voluntary missing. She says the media was LYING when they said that. She has NEVER been listed as voluntary.
She said they are working in conjunction with OTHER AGENCIES to locate Maricela. She would not specify what those were. She said she was not going to tell me anything that would hinder the investigation. Hmmmm.
She said they are working "behind the scenes". They are investigating. I mentioned Laura Stacy's case and what a great job her team did. She said they do that for ALL their cases. So I said, Oh, Maricela? So you have teams out looking for her? You've pulled the security footage and just told the businesses not to release that? I mean, what are you doing? She would not tell me. Only they are "investigating." She says they are doing the same for Mari that they do for all their cases that they did for Laura.
So, I'm about ready to send that to some people. I'm so upset I'm shaking.
I see why the family is frustrated. What could she possibly be "investigating" when she hasn't even pulled SECURITY FOOTAGE? ISN'T THAT WHERE SHE SHOULD START??
OMG just shaking

So, I want to send this out to media. That she is NOT voluntarily missing and should NOT be labeled that way. That they are investigating along with "other agencies." That she can not specify those agencies and/or what exactly they are doing. I asked her to get the surveillance and the dumpster contents. She never gave an answer.

I want to know if it is okay to send out a press release. They have not even processed those items yet. Give me a break. A choker that might have been around a missing woman's neck and you haven't even seen if it was hers?
I can include information about the search.
I would basically just state the above. What she told me about how they do the same for all MP cases. That there are other agencies. That they are investigating. That she is NOT voluntary.
Wonder if the media would even be interested in learning that.
I don't know. My brain is overloaded and I can't think straight. Not even sure I could write the press release. Who wrote that great blurb on the vigil? I'll go back and read.

I have an fb page too (nothing to do with missing persons though). I always felt the shares, reach, and likes and comments were not enough. Finally I stopped posting on the page because it was too much hassle for too little outcome. Since I stopped posting miraculously the Page Likes have more than doubled. I have no idea why. The mystery of facebook!

Words can not express how I feel after reading that post from mistivon. How can they claim that they've done as much for maricela as they did the other case? That's clearly not true at all. It's very evident what's going on here. Nobody should ever be treated as a second class citizen, especially when they are likely a crime victim. I can go on and on about other cases within LA and the differences but I'm sure it's already crystal clear to everyone. So instead I'll keep it to myself. This sounds to me like they are defiantly saving face as a result of being pressured, etc. And they are now starting to investigate.... if what she is saying is true. I feel that it is also a result of the Laura Stacy case, either they are looking at maybe a possible connection or maybe in her case she voluntarily went missing. And since that case got so much attention in comparison to Maricela's case when actually MG did not go missing on her own they do not want to cause a big controversy. Now is it just me or does anyone think it is real strange....that if Laura was abducted & released why are they not letting the public know?! The family is asking for privacy and yes that should be respected. We don't need to know the details of her case but we should know if it was an abduction or if she left voluntarily. So strange they took her thread down her too. I personally do not feel comfortable knowing that there have been missing women in the San Fernando Valley, where I reside. I also think it's BS that they are not treating MG's case like that other case & I agree with someone who posted here today, that they may be using her past against her. That is not right.

Now come on if they had always been investigating and using other agencies from the very beginning, why did volunteers and her family find evidence (phone, choker, cig)?! I hope they did retrieve those videos from various businesses early on because that is vital in determining so much if she is spotted in them. Hoping they are just keeping that under wraps. I did notice the 99c store had a security camera at the entrance of their store last night.

So @Mstivon go ahead and mention what you feel is right and about the new search to the media, it will be new info for them to go with. You are so blessed to Mr Duke along with NG who support this case through & through. I did notice NG's website is down as well, looking forward to listening & sharing it. And I hope they have a good turnout tomorrow, I have plans tomorrow but I will see what I can do to help. I also, wanted to PM you this weekend about something I observed at the vigil last night...

I do feel the more we share & converse on social media is key, it's a great tool! I am a Twitter gal and actually the day when Laura Stacy was found I tweeted back to one of the reporters saying that was wonderful news, and I mentioned Maricela's case. When I got a random reply from someone mean tweeting: "She was a meth go spin that!" That was ugly & creepy!!! But I won't let that stop my voice from being heard in this case or others who need the word out.

Now that last one hostess stands out to me. (Screenshot attached)

Reading into her About Me (screenshot attached) felt like I was reading a profile from an escort service.

I think SELENA GOMEZ is a fantastic idea. I think she should be tagged on every single post, facebook, twitter, however IF she is truly from Tarzana. I haven't looked. But she is also a beautiful young hispanic woman and I think if we can get her attention, she will help.

About the press release. I learned last weekend not to do anything between Friday and Monday. That gives us two days. I want this press release to be compelling and practically be a story that no one can turn down. Include that she is not on the LAPD missing or the state clearninghouse, include the conversation with Palmer, include the links to the high profile media like dateline and nancy grace. Include the pictures, the maps, the dogs, the family. Will also include they haven't verified the items yet and surveillance is no longer available from the ones the family has access to. And tomorrow's search. I know there are more important things...help me with what all needs to be in there to get their attention. A comparison of Stacy vs Garcia by the same detective? What? Help me. Then Monday morning, all my contacts are going to have it in their inbox. We can put it on social medial, the LAPD page, wherever.

I just can't wrap my head around the fact that NO security footage was collected except the good will video. Did the police tell dad not to ask for it? Did he absolutely need the police OK to retrieve the footage? That would have been the key to figuring out what happened. Re: mistivons conversation with that woman: I really dont think I believe that snooty woman, she sounds like she's covering for their lack of effort.
What bornblest6 brought up just now is very very important to look into if any PI can. This could be somehow related to her modeling career. I remember reading her brother said a few months ago she told him she felt she was being followed, and it says she hasn't accessed her modeling page in 3 months. It could be coincidence but there's no way to know for sure.

Edited to add, based on LEs comments and just everything that has transpired so far, I dont think we would have gotten ANYWHERE without mistivons help spearheading this search for Maricela. You're truly amazing.

I think we should have someone post an email list , include email addresses and phone numbers of people we want to get the word out to ( maybe msm, law enforcement, political figures in that area???)
Maybe if we all send heart felt emails explaining why we think this case deserves attention, maybe someone will care. Maybe it will pull the heart strings of someone and they will start to do their jobs or at least take a look at this case.
Its unfair to maricela if we give up now. Did people give up and go home when Casey Anthony's baby was missing? ( Nope .. they stood on her lawn and harassed le endlessly)
Then we can all personally start sending tons more emails until someone hopefully cares enough to listen.
I'd like to ask why certain cases get preference ( I already know the answer but I like to make people squirm ) and why maricelas family has to scrape together money for a decent PI when law enforcement should be the ones looking into this.

Yes if this is not a crime of opportunity, I think the pictures may have something to do with it. She noted on FB in 2013 that she had a stalker and mentioned several times to the family that she thought she was being followed.
The 99 Cent Store was also reviewed by an LEO that is friends with the family.
I will bring the PI up to speed over the weekend. Poor Dad is working twelve hours today but is also going to speak with him when he gets off.
There is a city council candidate involved...wasn't it someone here who contacted Jose Castillo? Haha I never remember the username spelling but like Bomblest or something He's been very helpful and is promoting her flyer and the family's . He brought up a reward, which I think is a FANTASTIC idea, but the family can't afford a PI, much less a reward. Too bad GW doesn't do something since that IS where she was last seen.
So, Selena did live in Tarzana for awhile. If you guys think that's enough of a connection, I say we start tagging her in everything and I will encourage the followers to do the same. Anyone who twitters can do that. What do you think? Worth a shot?

Also if you guys need any photo related advice please let me know... quality tells so much. Anyone can be a model, including myself, that doesn't mean anything legitimate. I can't tell you how weirded out I am by men photographing women nude (but doing so, so poorly. It make me ask to myself "you cannot consider this "art" you must be justifying this to yourself for more lewd reasons".) ugh and bad lighting is a tell tale sign. Sorry could go on and on and on but there is a woman that needs to be found! Proud of everyone of this thread!!
