Arrgghhhhh! WTH can be taking so darn long?? Have they got one or two holdouts? This, IMO, doesn't bode well for a tuff verdict. It seems pretty clear to me, but....
Hoping this will turn out the right way today!
36 talented, good and trusting souls left this world that night in choking smoke, pain, and horror. And Almena & his family weren't even there to help the people get out.
Unbelievable. Justice must be served. Today.

It's the first significant development from the jury this week on the seventh day of Ghost Ship trial deliberations.

Tuesday afternoon the jury sent a note to the judge, asking for significant portions of testimony to be read back to them.

"The jury asked for read-backs, Derick Almena's testimony in its entirety, Nico Bouchard's testimony in its entirety, and Ryan O'Keefe's testimony in its entirety," said Curtis Briggs, the lead attorney for co-defendant Max Harris.

Ghost Ship Trial: On day 7 of deliberations jury requests 'read back' of Derick Almena's testimony
Tuesday, August 13, 2019 8:50PMOAKLAND, Calif. (KGO) -- It's the first significant development from the jury this week on the seventh day of Ghost Ship trial deliberations.
Tuesday afternoon the jury sent a note to the judge, asking for significant portions of testimony to be read back to them.
RELATED: Remembering the Oakland Ghost Ship Fire victims
That includes that of Ghost Ship founder and defendant Derick Almena, who testified in his own defense.
"The jury asked for read-backs, Derick Almena's testimony in its entirety, Nico Bouchard's testimony in its entirety, and Ryan O'Keefe's testimony in its entirety," said Curtis Briggs, the lead attorney for co-defendant Max Harris.
Bouchard lived only briefly at the Ghost Ship when it was first founded in late 2013, but he was a co-signer on the original lease with Almena.
He testified early in the trial that he became concerned that Almena was making structural changes to the warehouse without proper permits or the owner's approval.

Ghost Ship Trial: Jury Changes Mind on Almena's Testimony
The jury changed their mind at the last minute when it comes to reviewing defendant Derick Almena's testimony in the Ghost Ship warehouse trial. The jury on Wednesday told the court they don't want to hear all four days of Almena's testimony read back to them. The jury is set to return for their ninth day of deliberation on Thursday. KTVU's Ghost Ship trial courtroom blog

Aug. 19, 3 p.m.

BREAKING: 3 alternates, two men and a woman, have been seated on the jury to replace 3 women on the panel. The judge alluded to inappropriate contact with the news media. The new jury consists of seven women and five men.

(EARLIER: We are waiting for some kind of announcement to be made in court at about 2 p.m. The courtroom has been in closed session, but at about 2:30 p.m. the entire prosecution team left, presumably for a private powwow. They returned to court about 15 minutes later.)

This morning, attorneys met with Judge Trina Thompson in closed session to discuss a note sent by the jury. Afterwards, they declined to comment. Even Tony Serra, the normally voluble defense attorney for Derick Almena, passed by the TV microphones without a word.

So.... I guess the jury will now have to start all over again with deliberations....
