Those poor kids, probably did not have an appetite anyway after what they were forced to look at, imo.

California man charged in decapitations of son, daughter
''Maurice Jewel Taylor Sr., 34, faces two felony counts each of murder and child abuse under circumstances or conditions likely to cause great bodily injury or death, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced Tuesday.

Taylor is scheduled to be arraigned December 21. It wasn't known Wednesday if he has an attorney.

Taylor is charged with fatally stabbing the 13-year-old boy and 12-year-old girl on November 29 in Lancaster, according to a news release. His other two boys, ages 8 and 9, were allegedly shown their murdered siblings and were forced to stay in their bedrooms for several days without food, prosecutors said.''

''Taylor was ordered held in lieu of $4.2 million bail. If convicted as charged, he faces a possible maximum sentence of more than 57 years to life in state prison.''

Oh my Lord, I hope the surviving siblings are getting some intensive therapy. I have no words for that kind of evil. He goes from providing physical therapy to help strangers, to doing this to his own children? How is someone able to hide that kind of monstrosity?

That makes it even worse than it originally was. Monster does not even come close to what he is and I'm not sure any word can describe it.

Hopefully the judge will make the determination for the sentences to be consecutive and no concurrent as this guy should come nowhere close to being back in the street at any point in his life.

So where was the wife while all this was going on? Was she also locked in a bedroom? I mentioned at the beginning of the thread that they may have been held hostage. I wonder how long he would have kept this up if no one had asked for a welfare check. He sounds really psychotic.

I wonder if he didn’t have to lock his wife up - if she was too terrified to leave her remaining children because she was scared of what he would if she went to get help. They were in that house since Nov 29th. If she also didn’t have food she may have been very weak also. But we really don’t know much about the dynamic of this family - just snippets. I really don't want the mom to be complicit in anyway - so there is a parent left for the remaining children.

ETA - I also wonder if there was more to why his clients called in a gas leak. If they went to the house and didn't get a response or something else made the situation seems "off." Why didn't they ask for a "wellness check" - or did they and the police didn't treat it urgently. I have to say the "gas leak" story worked well. Heaven forbid I ever need to do that -but it seemed to get LE there fast.

If decapitating your young son and daughter, does not merit Life Without Parole, what does?
I'm wondering if this is going to go towards an insanity plea.
This is horrendous!

It wouldn't surprise in the least if this happened

It's a difficult hurdle.
It seems like he might have been holding his wife and younger kids hostage but I'm not sure if it was to hold them hostage until he could decide what to do with them or so they didn't tell on his crimes which could be knowledge of guilt.
idk. Could this possibly qualify for insanity? I need more information.
But this act is cray cray!

Horrific. I think something obviously went catastrophically wrong with this man's brain for him to suddenly do something like this. Jmo.

I got the impression from the one interview of the client that they requested a wellness check but weren’t being taken seriously so they used the gas leak story to actually get an officer out there. JMO

Actually, whoever called in a potential gas leak is brilliant. LE in The Los Angeles areas have had their budgets decimated by Mayor Eric Garrett.
They are stretched very thin. Would not surprise me if wellness checks are not being conducted. Moo

LASD hasn't been hit too hard yet. The problem up here in the Lancaster area is that the Lancaster station is one of, if not the busiest station in all of LA County while having the largest area to cover. Their service area is 600 square miles and covers 6 different communities. The deputies are so busy, that sometimes wellness checks will get put off along with other low priority calls.
