Maricris clearly said there are 4 bedrooms, and I believe she is counting the loft among the 4.
I know a home that is laid out exactly in this fashion.
This makes sense because
a, if you have three children and three bedrooms most parents would find it easier for each child to have their own room (so the 2 girls don't talk and keep each other awake into the night).
b, why would you use the son's room as storage if you had additional space?
c, it seems highly unlikely they would need a guest room as all the family lives fairly close.
d, Maricris makes no mention of an office, playroom etc.
Therefore if Larry is sleeping in the "loft", everything else is downstairs.
I'm sorry but I'm going to have to politely disagree with you. Not that you don't make excellent points, but I'll tell you my thoughts and maybe we can come to an agreement.
Maricris may have said there were 4 bedrooms but Larry said there were 5. That would be a strange thing for him to lie about. I also think Larry would know the house better than Maricris
A. I agree that each child should have their own room for the exact reason that you stated. But if you're saying a loft is included in the total of rooms making it 4, does that mean that one of the children is sleeping in the master bedroom? I just need some clarification on this point because I think I'm misunderstanding.
B. Why would they use the son's room for additional storage? I have no idea. It's a big house. I'm guessing that maybe the kids have a ton of toys so they keep them in there? I honestly have no idea how much stuff kids need but I'm just speculating anyway so it's a moot point. And the term "storage" could just mean that the room isn't set up for the 4 year old to sleep in yet because he's not ready to sleep away from a parent yet. But honestly, I have no idea. I'll have to listen to Maricris' description again. But people do make strange choices in their own homes sometimes.
C. Maya's family all live close by it's possible that Larry's did not. I haven't heard enough about his family to know how close they live. Guest rooms aren't only for family but friends as well. Maya's family came from Hawaii so maybe they have guests from there. And the decisions people make in their houses sometimes don't make sense. My husband's parents valued a guest bedroom more than they valued giving their children their own separate room with their own separate beds and yet they also never had guests. Sometimes logic just does not apply.
D. I feel like she didn't mention the other rooms is because they did not apply. She was asked about what happened, not about the layout of the house. She's only focused on the room that had the locked door.
It's frustrating because I do know a bit more about this house but I don't think I can share it because there is a family living there and they have their right to privacy. I definitely don't want to over share for that reason but I'm fairly confident that the house has 5 bedrooms (it's possible the loft is included but I have my doubts) and one happens to be downstairs.
I hope that this didn't come across as rude to you. It's hard to disagree without coming across that way sometimes. I'm going to look into this a bit more and if I come across anything that will contradict what I've said here, I'll be sure to mention it.
