Is there still a search for May today?

Thanks, @swedeheart for remembering Maria Guzman Cordova.

I reference this case often as a good example of the DA/Prosecutor only getting one bite at the apple, and what can happen when an arrest is made prematurely -- probably bowing to pressure.

It's also a good lesson in patience, and seeing the heartbreak of a family-- knowing that a killer was set free, and can never be tried for the murder of Maria, all because he was arrested before the DA had sufficient evidence to move the case forward in court.

Such a good reminder. I am shocked at the similarities in location and narrative of the two cases. What a shame that justice cannot be served for Maria. What a shame for her children. I hope pray for the safety and sanity of a Maria’s children and that justice prevails in for MM and her children.

Ita.
Entirely plausible.
Esp. as she hasn't been found.
Imo.

I really think that he probably disposed of her body in a way that if she was found, it could appear as a hiking accident. And I bet he was also hoping that the body would be hidden, but exposed to the elements for long enough by the time she was found that there'd be as little forensic evidence left as possible. Getting a headstart by not reporting her missing immediately would have helped a lot with that. We're gonna have to hope he's been captured on camera/s and/or that logs from his car, phone or something else will be enough evidence to get somewhere. MOO JMO

Have we ever known of a spouse who didn’t fully engage in searching for the missing spouse, disengaged from LE and the family of the missing spouse who didn’t turn out to be involved in the disappearance? Wracking my brain but open to other’s recollections and hoping this is an exception to that pattern.
JMO

Definitely rare. The only thing I'd say is that I think with this couple we should also be comparing him to ex-husbands, because it seems in every effective way they were mostly separated but co-parenting and just yet to make the separation official. However generally speaking I'd say unless you're talking about an ex that was abusive, someone you're separated from but still co-parenting with is still a really important person in your life and you'd be devastated for your children if not for yourself. But LM has only said he wants things to be 'normal with the children' not 'normal for the children', something I always found a little... off. JMO.

Maya Millete: Technology helps in search for missing Chula Vista mom

"... Sunday’s search for Millete drew up to 150 volunteers who scoured Lower Otay Lakes on foot and by air and water.

“They’ve been scanning the lake since 6 in the morning today,” search organizer Liliana Burke said. ..."

drones in the air, underwater scanners in boats, kayakers... more at link

Maybe Chula Vista PD are playing their cards so close to the chest because they don't want a repeat of the Maria Guzman case? Either way, I hope she's found soon and justice will prevail. MOO

If he was responsible which we still don’t know there’s so many places in San Diego county that can easily hide a body then you have to account for the surrounding areas as well.

IMO the electronic vehicle information of LM’s car could help steer LE to the right direction if they downloaded it.
If LR is responsible and hasn’t got help from someone else.

This is very interesting, exciting and seems very through. I wonder if something specific led them there or if this is only some area they pointed to on the map to eliminate.

I was thinking the same.

IMO unraveling a timeline, all the tech footprints, interviews, plus LE profilers input & the public’s help...the truth will be revealed.
It’s (sadly) probably a recovery not a rescue but LE can out wait and out smart a perp.
If the perp had help or missed a step, LE will find that door IMO.

I am still keeping an open mind. It’s hard, but I am. She could very well be super close by, having been missed during searches.

amateur opinion and speculation

yes i agree. somewhere close by, or maybe the route LM takes from their residence to work. Some familiar route he takes.. where he would know all the secluded spots.

MOO amateur speculating

Wishing only the best for MM's children. 68 days missing and counting. My heart breaks for them. :(

MM's sister, on a a video interview, did mention that she thought it was odd when they went to the house looking for MM, LM didnt mention anything about the Big Bear trip. Sister found it odd that there was no signs of packing for the trip on Friday, nor Saturday.. and that they wouldve expected LM to remind MM to get out of the room and start packing. if LM did think she went out to blow off some steam, hike, or wine tasting.. one would think to still get ready for the trip. But there was no sign of that, according to sister.

Am I misunderstanding something here? Larry said he took his son to Solana Beach. He never mentioned he was going in to work. Am I missing something? It's very possible he did both but why not mention it? I'm confused. MOO
