Not to say he couldn't still possibly find a way to access a gun, the more they can do to keep him from possibly doing something before LE takes a possible next step the better!

And seems it was requested by LE or authorities of some sort, as Maya's family had no idea about it.

Great find. At the link there is a short news video, Maricris also appears. Importantly there is a report about the kinds of weapons and how many LM had at the house. Some of the guns were illegal/unregistered. Will he be arrested on gun charges?

Husband of Missing Chula Vista Mother Served With Temporary Gun Violence Restraining Order – NBC 7 San Diego (nbcsandiego.com)
A Gun Violence Restraining Order is a court order that prohibits the person from having in his or her custody or control, own or possess, or receive any firearms or ammunition while the order is in effect. The petitioner must convince the Judge that the person to be restrained poses a significant danger in the near future of:

• causing personal injury to himself/herself, or another person by having:
  • in his/her custody, or control, owning, purchasing, or receiving a firearm.

Police will come and remove the guns or the person can store them with a licensed gun dealer while the restraining order is in effect.

If Larry was served with this restraining order two days before the search warrant was served and guns were found during the search, would that not be grounds for an Arrest for breach of the restraining order?

I was under the impression that guns were removed from the house the night of the search.

From the news the incredible number of weapons owned by LM:

"The documents show Larry Millete owns 22 firearms, including 7 AR-15s, three shotguns and five handguns. Eight of the firearms are legally registered to him, but the 14 others were not.

The reason for the restraining order, according to the documents is a "significant danger'" of MIllete having access to the firearms.

Larry is said to have allowed a third party to possess firearms without a legal transfer, also noting that he bought two firearms after a search warrant was served at his home where illegal firearms were seized, referring to the first search of the Millete home back in January.

After the search in January, Millete also reportedly told officers that he knew they were coming for his weapons and that he gave multiple firearms to his friends. In the document, police say he refused to give names of those in possession of the weapons.

Two semi-automatic rifles belonging to Millete were seized from his uncle’s house.

As of May 4th, 18 of Millete's firearms are outstanding."

Agreed. This whole situation is getting more and more dangerous for the children. I don’t think the seriousness of the situation is lost on LE.

What’s it going to take to get those kids out of there?

My concern is ramped up significantly.

This is so scarey why is he still free after Le found those guns and telling the le he gave some guns to friends, I'm sure breaking the gun restraining order and having unlicensed /illegal guns should be chargeable ,why would le still leave him with the children knowing about the missing weapons . They need to arrest him or get the children out of there jmoo

Just jumping into this thread but have been following Maya’s disappearance for a while..

@Tealgrove , I am wondering if that restraining order had a deadline to turn the guns in, maybe anywhere from 24h to 1 week. I’d imagine that it would likely be on the lower end of the range, but don’t know for sure. I believe that with regular civil restraining orders there is a deadline (probably varies state to state) the respondent has x days to do so. Again, I’d imagine with a restraining order specifically on firearms the amount of time given to the respondent would be shorter. Given the urgency that is outlined in the requirements to obtain one.

also, I’m confused now after hearing about that RO. I am assuming LE’s search warrant was for far more than just the guns? But again unsure as the RO is new info to me.

Does anyone know what the law requires to issue this type of restraining order? I can’t imagine they can issue without significant proof, right? I’m frustrated at the lack of an arrest, but my gut tells me LE knows way more then we think.

From what I could gather (am local and stayed up all Friday night watching the coverage and in a Zoom call with some of the Search Warriors team), the GVRO was requested by LE because they found out he had purchased 2 more handguns after they took his few guns away in January. The fact that they took an unregistered/illegal gun from him in January but still couldn't arrest is UGH. Wondering if somehow his name was flagged in the system and they got notified when background was ran for the new purchase? The fact that he told LE he knew they would come for his guns so he gave them away.... I just can't with this guy. Get those kids to Maya's family please.

Not confirmed by any mainstream media so I don't think I can share, but the search warriors have a LOT of intel on Larry as they apparently keep very close tabs and know people who know him, work with him, etc. But what they shared about that evening was very upsetting to hear.

So if he broke the RO why isn't he charged if he's refusing to tell LE where the other guns are isn't that a breach, why are the kids still there if anything happens to those poor children it will be on them. Jmoo ,it amazes me he's still free
