My off-the-wall wild guess theory is that during the travels, although not premeditated.. Melodee said something that upset her mother. She was slapped, hit or punched or whatever and the mother knew with the child would be showing signs of abuse (bruises, etc.) that she didn't want such evidence to be seen by others and decided to kill her. The backtracking on the journey as someone mentioned In my mind might be the place where her body was disposed.

If LE can get a subpoena on the mother's phone, they can see where there were stops in places where there should not be.

I HOPE that Melodee was dropped off at some kind of cult as is okay... but like most of you, I highly doubt it.

Rhetorical question -- if Ashlee delivered Melodee to someone for safe-keeping, went did Ashlee leave? Why didn't she stay there too? Tell the school you're moving, move. Go live wherever it is that Melodee is.

What was there for her to come back to? It's not like she had a robust life ...

My mind's gone there too, although I'm curious about whether drug abuse such as fentanyl could be behind the weight loss, and, with that, the potential for accidental exposure/overdose.

I can't help but comment that the body language of Ashlee....with Melodee in that video is just off in some way.

Almost off like in the mother is completely disconnected from having any fond feelings for the girl. Almost like she thinks of her as a chain around her neck. Might jsut be me but there are no hints of smiles or show of any affection or anything else. Looks very strange for a mother and young daughter.

Ashlee looks significantly different in every photo and it's not just the wigs. If you told me that was the same person as this I would never believe it. Even the wig photo from the car dealership looks like a third completely different person!

It feels like she's angry at the child for something, her gaze is angry and judgmental. The child looks uncomfortable, she's dressed like she's at a party, like she wants to meet someone. But she looks very, very angry to me in that video.

It's so strange. I'd love to see several of her pictures lined up here for comparison purposes.
Regarding the ankle monitor - she is not going to like that at all! She seems very protective of her privacy, it's going to nut her up IMO.

The mother of missing California 9-year-old Melodee Buzzard was released from custody and given a GPS monitor Wednesday following an arrest last week on unrelated charges.


Ashlee Buzzard, 40, pleaded not guilty in a Santa Barbara County courtroom Wednesday to a charge of false imprisonment. Buzzard was arrested in connection with an incident in which she allegedly prevented a man from leaving an area against his will.

Completely agree and I'm angry that didn't happen/hasn't happened. Melodee is a child. How is it possible that you can refuse to produce a child after a wellness call is made?! Not to mention that there are previous CPS reports. How?? Why??

Buzzard's attorney argued that his client is not a flight risk and that the complaint was non-violent.

The prosecutor, however, disagreed, stating that a box cutter was involved in the crime and that authorities have discovered she wore wigs and switched license plates on the road trip she took with her daughter.

I agree. Children need more protection. I read far too many posts about children being mistreated, abused and murdered.
