Is Lori Miranda still around I wonder?
When googling Melodee's name this link came up https://www.cyberbackgroundchecks.com/detail/melodee-buzzard/pidqmgamqaxayqbxmplpll

Considering she's only 9 years old, I thought at first it was a mistake. But then looking at this person's possible relatives, that name comes up in the first spot. So, it's not a mistake. Someone related to LM used Melodee's name for something that allowed her to end up on a site like this.

It's been decades but I recall hearing about parents using their kid's name & other fraudulent info to apply for credit cards. NOT that I'm saying this is what happened here, but it was the first thing to come to mind.

If you click on LM's name, her first listed relative JM has an address in Nebraska.

Families often recycle names.

Maybe they have family in Nebraska.

If she were older, I might wonder if she got sent away (hidden) due to pregnancy.

If she's alive, handed off to family, why wouldn't that information be turned over to LE?

I have questions.

I hope Melodee was taken by her mother to go live with relatives in Nebraska and then her mother returned to California. And for some reason, Melodee's mother won't tell LE this. But why not? I hope LE can get in contact with whoever might be in Nebraska that might have information about all of this and get some useful information for finding Melodee.

I'm hoping that, too, but I also can't think of a reason why she wouldn't just say that was the situation. It's not like there's a custody battle going on.

Exactly.

What could be so important for secrecy that she wouldn't own right up? Why exactly was she sent away (of that's what happened)?

has anyone discovered any ties Ashlee may have to Nebraska?
I have found nothing. Doesn’t that article say “locationS as far away as Nebraska”?

My imagination is really going wild here …

The only thing I can think is maybe her mom got on the wrong side of some bad people and she wanted to take her someplace where she couldn't be found? If that's the case, maybe now that the police have "outed" as being in Nebraska she would feel comfortable saying where Melodee is? Obviously the situation could be more nefarious than that but still hoping for a good outcome.

I agree. And if Melodee's mother was overwhelmed and/or unable to care for her, and Melodee was going to go live with relatives in another state, I would assume those relatives would then enroll her in their local school once she arrived. As far as we've heard, Melodee hasn't been located as enrolled in another school district.

It does, so presumably every state between California and Nebraska. She could have taken any kind of circuitous route, but if she had driven directly from Vandenberg Village, California to Nebraska, Google Maps routes the drive through the states of Nevada, Arizona, Utah, and Colorado. Lots of territory to cover if LE is looking for a place she may have dropped off Melodee along the way.

I have also seen parents place utilities in the names of their children because they themselves owe a large amount on a previous bill and the company will not start new service when you owe on an old bill. JMO

After you mentioned I recalled I'd heard of that before as well.
It certainly explains a possible reason why a minor child's name is listed on a public people finder site.

In any case, I hope the family in Nebraska is more open to assisting LE in locating this child than her mother is. Assuming they know anything at all.

Yeah. Lori Vallow Daybell told police that her children were in a "safe place", visiting people in Arizona.

It fell apart when her friends in Arizona refused to cooperate with Lori's request to lie to police for her.

So is mine. :(

Agreed.
The explanation is so vague, if Melodee's mom really wanted LE attention off of her she could just let them know where to locate her daughter ?
But, silence.
Still hoping somehow for good news for Melodee.

Also remember the three Skelton boys ?
Still missing but presumed deceased, iirc.

Outrageous. He should never leave prison. If the children are declared "dead", and he was the last one with them, it is time for charges of murder.

This is reminding me of Timmothy Pitzen. His mom took off with him, took him on a trip, and he has never been found.
