IMO I think we are only seeing her in the rental photos and not M because someone else may have been present

  • #522
I’m not sure we know she didn’t return. We just know she stopped being present
I agree. We know LE knows she was last sighted at the car rental place on the 7th. We don't know what else LE may know. Such as are they sure the woman and her daughter didn't return to their home after renting the car? Do they know if any other stops were made after renting the car but before leaving the area? etc.

Yep and they may have received info after the stop since releasing the photos so may now know she made it home but didn’t know then

Do we really know that?

I'm picking up what you're putting down.

This is out there, but is there any way she "borrowed" a female relative for the drive away from the house as a Proof of Life, returning that child to relatives... and Melodee never, as we say in cop lingo, left the house (alive)?

Could there be a proxy child who didn't know she was being pawned?

An intentional diversion?

Now that that image has been published, we don't know what tips have come in... but pure speculation, if that's not Melodee, maybe someone's mother recognized her own child. That would send LE to the house faster than postage stamp on an email. Vaporizing the indication thst Melodee had left the house and been lost somewhere beyond where the photo was taken. Suddenly back to Investigation 101: start at the home and never leave it.

I can't recall the case but it was a recent one I posted on within the past two weeks. A mother had "borrowed" another woman's child and presented that child as her own when LE or CPS came to do a well check. Turns out her own daughter had been dead for months. Now it's bugging me so I am off to find it.

“She did not answer any questions regarding Melodee, only to let me know that everything has been hard on her and her mental health, and that she didn’t appreciate all the attention she’s been getting, and the fact that I was there and knocking at the door,” Corinna Meza said.

“She doesn’t really have much emotion, like a very straight face, like, no emotion at all,” Corinna Meza added of Ashlee’s emotions during their interaction.

Update in Ongoing Search for Melodee Buzzard- Investigative Focus on October 9 Travel Route

Posted November 3, 2025
Lompoc, Calif. – Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s detectives are sharing additional information, a route map, and photo that includes Ashlee Buzzard in their ongoing search for missing at-risk 9-year-old Melodee Buzzard.

The Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office began investigating on October 14, 2025, when a school administrator reported Melodee’s prolonged absence. Deputies attempted to locate Melodee and her mother, Ashlee at their residence in Lompoc, California, but were only able to speak with Ashlee who provided no verifiable explanation for Melodee’s whereabouts. A search of the residence confirmed that Melodee was not there. Ashlee has remained uncooperative and has not confirmed Melodee’s location or welfare.

Through their investigation, detectives have confirmed that Ashlee left California with Melodee in a white 2024 Chevrolet Malibu, initially bearing California license plate 9MNG101, on October 7, 2025. Detectives believe that Ashlee and Melodee travelled as far as Nebraska, with a return trip that included Kansas. Beginning October 8, 2025, the Malibu was observed with a New York license plate HCG9677. It is unknown when the plate was installed or whether additional plates were used at other times during travel. The New York plate seen on the car does not belong to the vehicle or to Ashlee. Investigators believe it was used as a false or switched plate to avoid detection. When the vehicle was returned to the rental agency in Lompoc California, the assigned California plate was on the vehicle.

Detectives have now confirmed that Melodee was last seen along the return route via video surveillance on October 9, 2025, in the region between the Colorado–Utah border. Investigators are working to fill gaps in the timeline for that date and are working with law enforcement agencies in Colorado, Utah, Arizona, Nevada, and Southern California for assistance in reaching the members of their communities.

Investigators believe the Malibu traveled through the following areas on or around October 9, 2025:

  • Green River, Utah
  • Panguitch, Utah
  • Northwest Arizona
  • Primm, Nevada
  • Rancho Cucamonga, California
The Sheriff’s Office is sharing a map of the vehicle’s stops and urges anyone in those communities to check surveillance and report relevant information. Detectives are seeking anyone who may have had contact with Ashlee or Melodee at any point from October 9-10, 2025, or any video footage from their route of travel.

Investigators are sharing additional surveillance images of Ashlee and Melodee that were captured at a rental car location in Lompoc California at the start of the road trip on October 7, 2025. Both Ashlee and Melodee appear to be wearing wigs with Melodee’s appearing darker and straighter than her natural hair. Melodee Buzzard is described as a 9-year-old female, approximately 4 feet 6 inches tall, 60 pounds, with brown curly hair and brown eyes.

Detectives are asking anyone who has seen Melodee or has information about her whereabouts to contact the Sheriff’s Office through one of the following methods:

Detectives will continue to provide updates as new information becomes available that does not compromise the integrity of the investigation.

WTH is Ashlee doing? Wearing a wig, switching plates on a rental car? Where did the New York plate come from, did she steal it along the way? The only car rental agency in Lompoc is Enterprise., FWIW.

This begs the question of WHY she went all the way to Nebraska? Melodee was with her on the return trip as far back as Colorado-Utah. This is beginning to look very bad.

Least we know she has another pair of boots that aren't black.

whoah

swapping out the plate to evade detection is getting pretty cloak and dagger

so she already (as some point in the road trip) felt the need to cover her tracks... if the license plate swap can be pinpointed to before a confirmed sighting of melodee, that would make me lean more toward the theories that melodee is OK, or was whenever her mom left her somewhere. because then it would be likely whatever ashlee did with melodee was planned and carried out over a number of days. and in the hypothetical scenarios where she had hurt melodee or worse, i tend to assume it would be unplanned.

Delivering drugs? Still doesn't explain where Melodee is?

i wonder if the entire nebraska/kansas leg of the trip was a red herring to throw off the police. sounds like a ridiculous length to go to, but so are wearing wigs and using fake license plates on a rental car. and if the purpose of the trip was to take melodee somewhere, that somewhere was colorado or closer, so going to nebraska and kansas wasn't necessary.

I'm impressed that LE was able to determine that Ashlee switched license plates.

I'm impressed that LE was able to determine that Ashlee switched license plates.
And switched them to do what, exactly, without being seen?

None of this sounds hopeful for locating Melodee safe and well, when mom's being all shady & illegally swapping out plates.
I'm stunned LE know she did this, and refuses to produce Melodee, and she's still walking free.

Sheer footwork running down leads in my opinion, based on electronic car data, LPR, and maybe cell phone.

They gathered video from key locations, based on the above data. Glad the FBI is investigating!!

Maternal or paternal, did she say?
I'm a little done with Melodee's paternal side.
