i considered trafficking early on, and it's still a possibility in my mind.

but i also think everything we've learned is still consistent with "hid her daughter with friends/family out of state to keep CPS from taking her away". the subterfuge is excessive, but not inconsistent with it. ... it's not the only possibility, but imo still a strong one.

I think if she was hiding her, someone would have told law enforcement by now, Ashlee would have perhaps just gave them the info to avoid all the drama OR if they really aren’t sure where she is, arrest Ashlee until she says where she is. If she’s safe it should not be a problem. There is something criminal going on here. Was she leaving Melodee with druggies and comin back with a pick up? Now she can’t go back to get her or tell them where?

maybe? or maybe ashlee and/or whoever has melodee underestimated the seriousness of the LE response or LE's ability to follow their tracks, and is now frozen because they're unsure what to do. might want to get her back to CA to make the drama go away, but can't release her now without revealing themselves and getting into legal jeopardy. and they and ashlee can't talk to each other now, or LE would know. .... or maybe ashlee and/or whoever else thinks they can just "ride it out" and wait for the police attention to go away. maybe that was their agreed plan in the first place. ... these are just possibilities, but i think they're realistic ones.

it sounds like ashlee had a pretty strong reaction to nearly having melodee taken away before, so bad that she cut all ties with family who had tried to adopt her and basically hid herself and melodee from them. and it seems like the emotion is still there today. there was a report earlier on that a family member approached her outside her home to ask about melodee, and when this person mentioned that they don't have their contact info, ashlee snapped "there's a reason for that!". ... i have a hard time picturing that parent turning around and selling her kid. and then throw in the fact that whatever happened appears to have been triggered by escalation from the school. (jmo, of course. and everyone's different and people are complicated, and we have multiple claims of MH issues with ashlee.... )

I look forward to seeing the MSM report that Ashlee has been taken in to custody. I am surprised I haven't found anything to support that yet but it is only 11:50 am in CA so perhaps they haven't gotten wind of it yet since it apparently just happened.

Lompoc, Calif. – Sheriff’s detectives have arrested 40-year-old Ashlee Buzzard on charges unrelated to the ongoing search for her missing 9-year-old daughter, Melodee Buzzard.

Detectives learned of a recent incident where Ashlee prevented a victim from leaving a location, against their will which constitutes false imprisonment. This crime is not connected to the ongoing search for Melodee, however, detectives are unable to fully outline the crime as it would impede their ongoing investigation.

On Friday, November 7, 2025, detectives arrested Ashlee on a warrant for a felony charge of false imprisonment. She will be booked at the Northern Branch Jail with bail set at $100,000. Her booking photo does not meet the criteria for public release and will not be distributed.

Although this arrest occurred during the course of the missing person investigation, it is not directly related to Melodee’s disappearance. Sheriff’s detectives remain fully focused on locating Melodee and confirming her safety.
