Two children, their great grandmother missing in Carr Fire, family friend says
Kewley, who lives two miles from Bledsoe’s house, said he was standing on the roof of his home on Thursday night as the Carr Fire raced closer and closer. He said he called Bledsoe’s house.

“She was screaming, “It’s getting closer,” and you could hear the sirens,” Kewley said. “Then the phone went dead.”

Hoskison said she hopes social media may be able to help bring their family home.

If you've seen any of them in any of the Carr Fire evacuation shelters, please contact the Redding Police Department as soon as possible.

That’s so tragic

Doesn't sound like they made it out. Those poor kids were probably terrified.

I hate fire. It terrifies me.

UPDATE 1-Monster wildfire in California rages on after killing two...
Nine people were reportedly missing as a monster wildfire in northern California burned unchecked on Saturday after it killed two firefighters, destroyed hundreds of structures and sent thousands of frantic residents racing from their homes.

Some 3,400 firefighters on the ground and in helicopters and airplanes battled the 48,300-acre (19,500 hectares) Carr Fire early on Saturday as it ripped through Redding, a city of 90,000 people, in California’s scenic Shasta-Trinity area.

When I look at maps or Google Earth it makes my blood run cold to see how many timber framed houses are built on dead end roads running through forested areas.

Oh, goodness! I kept hurriedly scrolling through hoping to find a "located safe" article. Praying they are safe somewhere!

14 missing in total now.

Kids, great-grandmother had no car as fire came, family says. They’re among 14 missing
Family members say the Bledsoes only had one car and that Melody’s husband, Ed, had taken it to run an errand. Granddaughter Shelly Hoskinson said the family only owned a flip phone and was not technologically savvy, and said she believed no evacuation order ever came.
The sheriff was adamant that evacuation orders were sent, saying reverse 911 calls and warnings to cellphone users were issued, although he could not say whether deputies went door to door to warn residents to leave.

This is so horrifying. I fear this will turn out to be like the Santa Rosa and Sonoma fires.

This is unbelievably upsetting and sad news.

Oh sad news! I grew up in So Cal where it burned every time the Santa Anna's blew. I don't remember such a loss of life.

I'm very glad they were found. I hope they didn't suffer. I can't even imagine as a mother how I would begin to cope with that.
