LOL, yes, I caught it. Question for you. What exactly is that graffiti painted on? Besides, old trailers, containers, etc.. Old foundations? What are the walls? Just pieces of stucco left over from a patio? That is truly sad to see that in such a beautiful area. Where are the property owners and why is that allowed to continue? Are these paintings just from kids going up there and partying or is there more to it? Sorry for what may be dumb questions, but I would never have dreamed this would be in that location.....so use to seeing it in the city. TIA

Which graffiti are you referring to? I am referring to the sexually explicit mural. It was painted on a culvert, so I imagine it is concrete. That would be city, county or forest property. It was positioned such that nobody would see it. The city/county painted over it as soon as it was discovered. The mural is actually artistic, not the typical graffiti.

Just thinking, here. If she stumbled across or was picked up by some pot growers/ drug dealers who were working in the area, they wouldn't dump her near their hideout. They would likely know the area pretty well and would be able to leave her someplace that was well hidden.

Judging from the google map in one of the posts above showing where they found her remains, the location wasn't too far from a residential road. Still an isolated area and the homes are pretty far apart. It seems feasible they could have driven her to that neighborhood (Brown Latigo St.) and made the short, but difficult hike down there to leave her. I'm not familiar with the area at all, but maybe someone who is local can offer an opinion.

It is not a short hike. LE was quoted that it took 3-4 hours for the forest ranger to reach the old pot farm. The area is so dense with brush, trees, shrubs etc. you would essentially be blazing a new trail. The map is deceiving. Even the satellite is deceiving once you watch that video.

I'm not convinced of a helicopter drop by LE. There would have to be so many people at the sheriff's office involved, its highly unlikely they could get them all to cooperate in such illegal activity.

Me neither, but that seems like the only rational solution. The same can be said of the cops doing something to her without a helicopter. OTOH, nobody would likely notice a helicopter in these areas. The only "conspiracy" that makes sense is that the police know who did this and did not act sooner. Too soon to know though.

What I'm having trouble with is how isolated this area is yet people must have hiked up there to care for their crops. Maybe they set up isolated camps as they do in Mexico or Columbia....but still a lot of work to get supplies, food, and necessities up there. Couldn't get much more remote around close-in LA I would think, and she wasn't found for almost a year.. and in thick brush, so maybe no need to travel to rid of the body???

This was an old pot farm that was abandoned the previous year and they were checking on it. No update on whether or not pot was growing currently. If indeed this is an active farm, then she could have wandered into this but I still don't get how she wanders near the top of a mountain.

Don't believe for one minute it took 3 to 4 hours to get to that location. Don't know who said that, but it's not correct info.

How do you know that?

Thanks for the additional information, UCLA. I opened Google Earth and looked at the area where they found her remains. It shows the contours of the mountains much better than Google Maps. It is on a very steep hill/ravine and appears there is a hiking trail that is sort of nearby, but still quite a hike away.

The hiking trail comes off of Stunt Rd. Mitrice was described as being tall and though slim, it might be difficult to carry her body that far off the trail. Perhaps someone forced her to walk there? Poor thing, she was already likely having a psychotic break and would have been exhausted and traumatized. But looking at the map, its difficult to imagine she got there on her own.

This is a puzzling case, it and it certainly set's off some alarms in my mind. :waitasec: The rogue cop(s) theory is plausible, but it's hard to imagine the whole department was in on it.

There's not much information that has been made public, but hopefully there will be more information in the coming weeks.

I checked it on Google Earth. There are a couple of trails that run from Stunt Rd. to within about 250 yds of where her body was found. Following those trails to the site is less than 1 mile, mostly on clearly marked, but hilly, moderately rugged trails. The last 200-300 or so yards was very steep, up the mountainside ravine. Unless I'm looking at the wrong place, it could have been covered in much less than 3 or 4 hours.

Again, I'm looking at Google Earth, which may not be very realistic. :waitasec:

Based on the video, it seems like they may have approached from Piuma Rd, not Stunt Rd. That's probably why it took that long. That is how I suspected Mitrice got there, but she may have actually headed north and over towards Stunt Rd which is closer to the mural.

Sorry. Graffiti found during one of the searches. Here is link to video that Betty P provided. Huge amounts of graffiti/art. Although art is a personal perception, I just call that mural a public display of porn .....certainly misogynistic. imo

I was just speculating on how difficult the hiking in of supplies would have been when the farms were in operation and the ease someone could have had of just disposing her body in that environment rather than taking the body elsewhere for cover..in fear of being discovered or linked.

Poor girl, I hope she didn't wander that far in such rough terrain. I'm still wondering if someone didn't pick her up in a car as she was walking on the roads in the area. When I read the account of the person who saw her in his yard the following morning, my first instinct was to think she may have been kidnapped, escaped, then grabbed again shortly after the sighting. The account said she disappeared quickly after being spotted. Its confusing, but I'm betting the police, who are familiar with the area, have some idea of who could have taken her and how she got that far back into the remote area.

It's so sad to consider the options. I still don't understand why the police have been so reluctant to provide the family with more information. Now that her body has been discovered, they must have some idea of how she got there and who may have been responsible. I hope the family keeps the pressure on.

Curious about the report of the footprints. Had it not rained in almost a year there? Or were the foot prints so deep (mud) that they would still exist? What had been the weather a few days before or after?

Interesting indeed.

I thought it strange too that they stated footprints. How are they certain they are Mitirice's? and also that she was running??

Still searching, but found this. Wow. She was really in a VERY REMOTE area as seen in this video. Someone is describing exactly where in this video. It's as if she had hiked to the tip of the mountain, or just dropped there from above. Reminiscent of speculation in the VA girl's remains found on a huge farm there.

Brilliant video! You can see first hand the love, dedication, frustration Latice displays. This is VERY remote.

Funny, I thought the same thing...and also were stating there were no trails yet you can clearly see a dirt road access on the U tube video. Pot farmers could have likely taken her...could have held her there. Is it stated there was anyone around at all when the park rangers went out there in the very beginning? Possibly Pot growers left and that is why there was no cause of alarm to move the body/bones. In addition, does anyone know if a mountain lion would take their food (sorry...) up to the mountain range...?

Um, the rangers that found the bones told LE that it took them 3 to 4 hours to get there. It is correct info.

This is not a flat area, not an easy hike, and you'd have to crawl through bushes. Doesn't mean there isn't a quicker way to reach that exact spot.

The path seen on the YouTube video, where the narrator points to the mountain where she was found, is far from the location of her remains.

????

Are you saying it would have taken much longer than 3 to 4 hours?

  • #776
No, I just mean that 3-4 hours does not sound unreasonable, but it could have been shorter depending on how those rangers got into that area... or longer if lost.

If Mitrice walked there, it would not have been very quick and would have required a lot of work. For someone to carry her seems like it would be even more difficult. If an animal moved her, I don't think it could have successfully dragged her that far. Since all of the remains were together, the body would have had to have been dragged intact IMO.

Mitrice! Now the Real Investigation Begins

Sheriff Lee Baca has already publicly stated that his officers acted properly but maybe could have done some things differently. In one section of the report the bartender claimed that 'a customer (Mitrice) ... was "sounding crazy" and possibly on drugs ...' In another section, the report stated, 'In the trunk of Ms. Richardson's car, deputies observed full gallons of vodka, a half-bottle of tequila, and a half-case of beer.' She may not only have been high but somewhat intoxicated. And that may lend some validity to Sutton's lawsuit.

I'm just wondering if she didn't know someone there and they were sneaking alcohol out of this place or maybe that what she was doing in the parking lot in the other car....., but something is hinky here.

I don't follow. Or maybe I can't think after this long day haha. I could have sworn that this was mentioned in an article a while back. If she lived in her car, this wouldn't be surprising.

What is suspicious about this? Do you think she was drunk and/or high and was never tested??

I don't think she was actually living out of her car. This is the first time I have seen this mentioned, so I was a little surprised. It's one thing to have a bottle of wine, thermos with cocktails or beer if your going somewhere to partake, but this was gallons of vodka and other goodies. That why I wondering if this was what she was taking from the vehicle in the parking lot. As stated, maybe she knew someone there and they were helping themselves to bar stock. Why was LE never called when she was found rummaging through a car in the lot?? And then she was allowed to still enter after that.? She could have taken it from the bar she worked also. Do you ride around with this in your trunk? I don't. I just think it is peculiar it was there

According to LE, she was tested for alcohol and passed. They couldn't test her there for drugs; however, Latrice stated on her call, that her daughter had been brought in, that she was highly intoxicated. I'm guessing she got that info from the restaurant.

We have not been told a lot in this case. Nothing of a timeline really. Especially her whereabouts between say 4-6, before the incident. Nothing of who she may have been calling, texting, etc.

I don't know how much a personal forensic autopsy would cost, but since they prolly didn't have to pay funeral cost for her (donations) they maybe could have used it for that. IDK? I guess we'll find out bits and pieces before the trial of the lawsuits.

Dumb question I should know answer to but don't. Are Latice and Mr. Sutton still married or divorced? Are they living in the same house? TIA
