CA CA - Montecito Heights, Wht/HispFem UP4368, 12-18, 'Kay' on sandal, Aug'80

Margaret Kay Holst matches the characteristics of the Jane Doe quite well:

1416UFCA

The location is not really a problem, in many cases people can disappear in one place and finally be found dead in another place, perhaps a little further from where they disappeared (for example, we have the cases of Sherri Ann Jarvis and Michelle Garvey).
They should be able to compare Margaret and this Doe, both have dentals.

I hope collecting DNA is still an option. However, I would imagine she was cremated right? I think that was the procedure back then.

I believe that cremation was indeed standard procedure for most Southern Californian counties in the 1980's :(

Fingers crossed that maybe they have dentals? It's better then nothing at least...

Additionally, Rely tampons (found with this Doe) were recalled a month after this Doe is found due to their increased Toxic Shock Syndrome report finding by the CDC this brand caused more TSS than others. They were commonly worn longer than supposed to and taken off the market later that year. Prior to being taken off the market, samples of 4 packs were mailed to households across the country to advertise their “highly absorbent” product.

Originally, they mentioned a condom and an empty condom wrapper... They are not included anymore among the articles found near the body.

It states on Namus the remains were mummified. If she was last seen August 24th 1980 and found on the 30th, she would have been recognisable surely? I wonder if there is a photo in the police files somewhere. Photos are always taken at a crime scene. It would make identification a lot easier!

Some Coroners do post pictures on their websites, and some do not. It seems to very greatly from different jurisdictions.

I’m trying to work out why the remains were mummified and when. Couldn’t have been 6 days after death. So she would have been identifiable. I’m thinking it means the remains are mummified all these years later.

She wasn't discovered 6 days after death occurred. MOO it's likely to have been a much longer interval She was discovered deceased on 8/24, but not reported until until 8/30.

Thanks for clarifying @PinkButtercup. I was confused due to the quoted post about the date of discovery.
