CA CA - Newark "Mowry Ave Jane Doe" WhtFem UP53306 <40, Oct 85

I'm in Ohio, definitely can't go to Missouri or the other states. I'll look to see how to access the other state vital records. I'm not sure how to contact DDP. Would it help to send some of this info to the detective in Newark CA? His email is on the flyer.
They have an email for tips:

I think you found useful information, it can be helpful!

I did email the newspaper article @Jbetty567 posted earlier along with the information on the other Nazarene homes for unwed mothers. They replied that they will submit it to their team on this case. May or may not hear something. The response just said they could not comment further on the investigation in progress at this time.

LAMAR, Mo. (KOAM) - A 1985 California homicide victim who remains unidentified is now linked to the 4-State area.

The Lamar Police Department states the Newark, California Police Department reached out to them saying DNA genealogy testing links the victim to the Lamar area.

The Lamar Police Department has been asked to share this information locally in hopes that someone may know something.

If anyone has any information about the adoption or the identity of the victim, please reach out to the Newark Police Department at 501-578-4956 or if you want to speak to someone locally feel free to contact the Lamar Police Department at 417-682-3546 and speak to Chief Joe Moore.

I know this comes late but the Newark PD area code will be 510 NOT 501.

Also Marie's twin that died at birth was named Mary. A screenshot attached from ancestry.com of all her parents' children. Also screenshot from where Ruth Ellis was born. That post is on page 5 here
Catholics name their babies Mary / Joseph (or Maria / Jose) when they pass at birth, or they think they are. My momma was a twin and her twin passed at birth. They thought she was going to pass as well and her first name was Mary, she never went by that name tho, she always used her middle name.

Thank you for doing that. The info was all laid out in my podcast episode on the case, which Newark PD assisted with.

So was Newark PD already aware then of the article where the mother was sent to Chillicothe? And a possibility of her being sent to a different Nazarene home? Also can you link your podcast or send me message? This case really gets to me, and another unsolved murder local to me, in the 1980s, of Buckskin Girl who has been ID'd by the DNA Doe project but her murder not solved yet.

Not sure where you listen to podcasts, but the show is DNA:ID, episode 127

DNA:ID is fantastic and is the only podcast I actively follow weekly. Highly recommend.

I listened to the podcast. Really interesting! The theory that MMR may have been lied to that this baby, our Jane Doe, died at birth or was stillborn makes sense. As MMR only admitted to the half sister that she had one baby put up for adoption. Possible though too that if she was lied to, this first baby went somewhere in the family or extended family, and the lie was to insure the secret would not get out. Maybe raised as a cousin, instead of half sister, to MMRs other children. Possibly no record of her adoption.
The newspaper article got me to thinking MMR might have had a rough childhood too. It states she was passed along in grades at school because she would not be an appropriate influence on younger children, running away from home several times, and her not realizing the seriousness of her situation when appearing before the judge who sent her to Chillicothe. Girls acting out so young could be attributed to neglect, abuse, or trauma during childhood.

Possibly, MMR may have been looking for love elsewhere, by sleeping with teenage friends. But maybe not, hard to pin down dynamics from the 1940s.
After the second baby out of wedlock she turned her life around completely and noone of her children she had with her husband had any idea they have two half sisters. One became known and connected with family, the other is our Jane Doe

I totally agree - and for all we know, Marie could have been raped or taken advantage of, resulting in the early pregnancy.

Hello! I want you all to know that I am appreciative & amazed at your efforts, ideas and thoughts that have been put into this case. Thank you. I’d like to share another article I found from the Golden City Herald on Newspapers.com. If you remember, @Jbetty567 shared one that was from August 1947, this one I just found was a few weeks earlier in July of 1947. While I am just as appalled by this article as I was the first one, I am suspicious that the "appendicitis" was actually her pregnancy. I also submitted it to the email above that @AggieLou provided.

This is almost certainly the time frame she became pregnant with our Jane Doe. It fits with timeline of her half sister's birth and later her marriage and 3rd child. And then the next month she was apprehended again and sent to Chilicothe. I think it was this place, that I read somewhere this wasn't like a prison or institutional. building kind of thing. It was more like several group homes on the grounds. Wonder if she could have stayed there for the birth of a child. Sure would be nice if records of Chilicothe were kept and stored somewhere and where and when she went from there.

Hi, I’m new here, but I was looking through missing persons from the same area and time period, and I think Sally Anne Schneider looks very much like the original picture of UP53306. Here’s think to Jane Doe network. 745DFCA - Sally Anne Schneider

If there’s a better place to share this theory someone please let me know.

Was she adopted?

Good thinking - please put in a comparison table here listing the various key attributes of both cases to see what lines up. Sally isn't listed on this UID's ruleout page in Namus (there is only 1 r/out listed). Sally's missing persons file in Namus has 12 ruleouts but this body isn't amongst them.
