LASD seeks help from public after woman heard screaming for help before van drives away

NEWHALL, Calif. (KABC) -- The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department is asking for the public's help after an incident Thursday in which a woman is heard on video screaming for help.

In a video tweeted by LASD, the woman is heard yelling and shouting "Help! Help! Somebody help me!" as a large van is parked on a street in the area of Calgrove Boulevard and Creekside Drive in Newhall.

An LASD bulletin shows the vehicle described as a light-colored Sprinter-type van with aftermarket solar panels and an AC unit on the roof. Authorities are asking for the public's help in identifying that vehicle and the occupants inside at the time of the incident.

In the video released, a woman bystander asks the man recording the incident "What's going on?" after the cry for help.

Wow!! That was very frightening to hear and watch. Did you see the dog circling in front of the van? I wonder if it's the victims?
That van is super distinctive, hoping it's identified soon!

This is so disturbing. That poor woman was screaming for her life!

Knox I'm fairly sure it's the guy who videotaped the awful scene's dog. I saw different versions and he's calling a dog. Maybe not though.

They have to find that van. I can still hear that woman's screams in my head.

Authorities in California are investigating after cellphone video emerged in which a woman is heard fervently screaming for help from a van that fled in Santa Clarita last week.

The nearly two minutes of footage was recorded by a bystander the evening of Aug. 12 in a residential area of Newhall, the Los Angeles County sheriff’s officials said in a crime bulletin.

A woman is heard pleading, “Somebody, help me!” alongside a man’s voice saying, “Come on, honey.” A man in the van can also be heard calling for a dog named Jake at one point in the video.

The person recording can be heard yelling, “Stop,” as he asks someone else nearby to call 911, telling them, “They’re abducting her.”

“What are you doing? Why are you doing this?” the man recording shouts at the van shortly before it drives away.

Well, case closed. Very weird. Not a sign of a good relationship.

NEWHALL, Calif. (KABC) -- The woman who was heard on video screaming for help in Newhall has contacted the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.
On Wednesday, a spokesperson with the Santa Clarita Sheriff's Station said the woman contacted them, saying what was caught on camera was a disturbance between her and her boyfriend. Deputies responded to verify the story.
Authorities said the woman is safe now, and the case remains under investigation.

Right? I am the worse, worse judge of anything. I truly am glad the screamer chick is alive. Maybe not safe and as sound as she is saying.

Thanks Lucy's Mom for keeping us posted. I'd seen this real early in the morning but unable to link.

The male called her honey. That freaked me out. If she wants a role in a horror film just for her scream? Hire her.

Don't know about other women but I'm gonna say don't date a guy who will shove you in a trunk when you are screaming.

When I saw the part about calling her honey and calling the dog by name, I figured the parties knew each other. Good to know she
s safe, hope the dog gets some therapy.

Glad to hear LE is following up, as DV victims commonly recant.
