*Pretrial Hearing (@ 9am PT) – CA – “NorCal Rapist” *Roy Charles Waller (60/31 @ time of first crime) arrested (9/20/18), charged & arraigned (9/24/18) on 12 counts of forcible sexual assault with enhancements (use of gun). Charges for the 10/13/06 assault on 2 women in North Natomas (Sacramento County). The new charges (1/7/19) include 9 counts encompassing a brutal attack against a Martinez woman in 1996. New 1 count of rape charge (10/4/19) re Chico woman. Total 46 counts filed. Plead not guilty to all counts. Held without bond. Sacramento County
DNA entered into “genetic genealogy” GEDMatch. DNA from straw matched the rape of 2 women in North Natomas. 15 year spree since 1991 to 2006. Starting in Rohnert Park 1991, then to Sonoma, Davis (1997), Chico (July 1997, 21 yr. old w/blood evidence), Woodland (1997), Martinez (Oct. 1996 Contra Costa DA filed charges under “John Doe” can be charged now), Vallejo & Sacramento. Six counties involved: Sonoma, Solano, Contra Costa, Yolo, Butte & Sacramento. All will probably consolidated & tried in Sacramento County. Faces life term in prison if convicted.

1/15/20 Update: State witness: Terri Castiglia, a Sacramento County District Attorney’s criminal investigator & former Sacramento Police officer. A preliminary hearing for Waller is a Jan. 29 session at which prosecutors & the defense will argue before Sacramento Superior Court Judge Trena Burger-Plavan over whether Waller should face trial on the 46 felony counts he faces as the accused serial rapist who eluded authorities for 27 years until his 2018 arrest.
1/29/20 Update: Plead not guilty to all charges. Sacramento Superior Court Judge Trena Burger-Plavan ruled during a preliminary hearing that there is enough evidence to try Waller. Next hearing on 1/31/20.

Trial date set for suspect in NorCal rapist case

The trial date was set Thursday for the man accused of being the NorCal rapist.

Roy Charles Waller was in court Thursday morning where his trial date was set for May 27 at 8:30 a.m. A pretrial hearing will be held May 22.

Bring back chain gangs for violent offenders with 16 hours a day of hard labor. Provide only the most minimal sustenance. Stop the coddling of violent offenders! Let the pot heads out of jail to make room for the violent.

I agree the punishment should be much more harsh. Bring the damn gas chamber back and start gassing them 3 or 4 at a time. And sorry “potheads” aren’t in prison for being potheads. Show me someone who’s in prison for simple possession of pot with 0 other crimes.

I wish they would speed the ear case up because I was into the case for so long I would then for them to be able to finally release all the info they had.

I'm going to "guess" that trial is NOT going to happen on 5/27 as I have in my notes considering Calif. is still on strict lockdown. Just a hearing.... :)

Not sure I believe this article. It says he has a hearing on 8/8, but the jail site still says 8/19. First part is about the Golden State killer.

'Guilty': Golden State Killer admits to statewide rape, murder spree


Roy Charles Waller, a longtime UC Berkeley employee, was arrested in September 2018 in connection with the NorCal Rapist crime spree that included 15 sexual assaults in six counties between 1991 and 2006. Three of his victims were UCD students, attacked in their apartments 1997 and 2000.

A Sacramento Superior Court judge upheld the charges following a preliminary hearing held over multiple days in December and January. Waller now awaits trial and is due back in court Aug. 8.
