@Niner I have been checking twice per day also but no luck yet finding any news about the jury deliberations and/or verdict.Well.... just checked the LA Times and last article was on 11/26.... so going to post this (again!) until we hear anything different!
Wednesday, December 4th:
*Trial Continues (Day 17) for both-VERDICT WATCH! (@ 9am PT) – CA – Omar Medina (38) (Sept. 30, 2017, Chula Vista Marina; reported missing Oct. 2, 2017, found Oct. 12, 2017 in 55 gal. drum in San Diego Bay) – *Timothy John Cook (52) arrested (12/13/17) & charged (1/5/18) with 1st degree murder. Plead not guilty. No bond. Faces up to 87 years to life.
*Derrick Jefferson Spurgeon (38) arrested (12/13/17) & charged (1/5/18) with accessory after the fact to murder drove the boat) Plead not guilty. $500K bond.
Trial started on 10/22/19 (for Case #SC29718) Jury of 10 men, two women plus five alternate jurors.

Man found guilty of second degree murder in killing of Chula Vista man whose body was found in drum
A San Diego jury returned a guilty verdict Thursday for one defendant in a trial involving two men accused of murdering a Chula Vista music producer back in 2017, then trying to cover it up. Timothy John Cook was found guilty of second degree murder in the stabbing death of his roommate. The same jury deadlocked 10-2 on an accessory after the fact charge against Cook's co-defendant, Derrick Spurgeon.

A Dec. 19 status conference was scheduled to decide how to proceed with Spurgeon's case.
Cook is slated to be sentenced Jan. 6.
