I found it odd that the dad made a point that he wanted to search nearby homes. I believe right after he said they’re rambunctious, as if the two were related. Any vacant properties nearby that they could’ve been left at/inside? Why make a point about wanting to search nearby homes.

With poor Harley Dilly in mind, I hope any abandoned houses nearby are searched and fast.

I know that's not the most likely outcome here, but it can't hurt.

Random community members have been parked outside the home yelling and chanting for two days now. Some say they are yelling support to the LEOs, but what I heard just sounded like a lot of vulgar yelling for the adoptive parents to "come out" and talk. It's kind of ticking off the local neighbors.
To my ears, in that clip, I was hearing "where are the boys?"
Makes me wonder, in such a small community and likely quite tight knit, how the adoptive parents were generally perceived.

It appears that there are no searches around the area, no helicopters or drones, no requests for tips or sightings or out of place or unrecognizable vehicles, no warnings to residents regarding a possible abductor of young children, ....and no updates (at least not that I'm aware of)
Such silence is rather deafening...imo.
I just told my husband where's the bolo?
Where's the safety alert for the surrounding area?
Where's a warning to the community?

There's really been no updates today. The weather kind of turned today which could be why there was nothing going on. My brain on the other hand keeps going to the possibility that nothing was happening today because after the interviews and last night they have an idea of what happened

CCPD did alert the community the evening they were reported missing. They use the Nixle system. I received the Nixle alert via text that evening (Monday) at 8:07 pm. The updated it later that evening at 11:23 pm: https://local.nixle.com/alert/8430624/

That evening the community was out searching, including the use of a helicopter. It pretty much stopped the following day with no explanation or notice except for the Nixle advisory that after noon: https://local.nixle.com/alert/8434846/

Other than what Lt. Hightower (CCPD) has told the Bakersfield news outlet, they haven't said much of anything.

Thanks @MojaveMave !

Question: if they feel they left on foot, why are news agencies telling us that they are digging up the backyard??

That's a good question, isn't it? I found that wording about them leaving by foot interesting, because that advisory came out at 4:16pm on Wednesday, a full 48 hours later. It seems to me that with the FBI involved at that point, they wouldn't have said that unless they meant it. It's kind of confusing.

Never heard of Nixle. But I'm GLAD they did a per se Bolo.

A couple weeks ago my cell pinged off an Amber alert. It made my stomach cringe. These notifications are important....

Thanks for the updates...

LE should clear them out immediately. Completely unacceptable. While I can understand their concern for these children, shouting in the street is not helpful. They should take that energy and use it to search the surrounding area.

Amateur opinion and speculation

I do agree with this. Small incidents can quickly erupt into situations that LE can not control.

Brings me back to Casey Anthony and all those yelling outside their house. The strife and fighting that transpired only added to more negativity.

That is exactly who I thought of too. Not at all helpful!

Beyond the things already discussed, a few things stood out.

TW stated he was gathering wood from the vacant lot to start a fire in the house because it was cold. Was there no other source of heat, finances tight maybe?

In the full interview, TW says "the boys are rambunctious". I wonder if their playful nature set something in motion in the house?

A reporter asks TW & JW, "what time did the kids go missing and what time did you call police"? TW answers, "it was about I believe, I think it was about 4:30 or 5:00, it was getting dark outside, fiveish. That's about it, that's when everything played out".

Reporter asks, "what time did you call police"? JW answers "after we searched a little bit around here it was dark, so we definitely got worried".

Well, I’ve been wrong before, but I absolutely believe them. Sure hope I’m right. They took their eyes off, and the kids got out. It happens, and they move fast.

We need a miracle on this one, and that’s what I’m praying for.

It's interesting that the father said police only took their phones from the house, since it was reported that several brown bags, a large duffel bag, and their vehicle were taken by LE.

They also never answered the question as to what time they called police. The father said they first noticed them missing around 4:30 or 5:00 but instead of answering the question he said that's when it all "played out" and the mother said it was getting cold and they were getting worried.

I wonder if the couple were foster parents to the children before they legally adopted them. Apparently they have communicated with the biological mother.

IMO

Who informed the biological parents about their disappearance? At first, no names or pictures were released.

I kinda believe them as well........for now.
Maybe not watching them as closely as they said. Man i hope they are checking every nook and cranny around the home including any old vehicles if they are any.

The police I'm sure, I bet they contacted her from get-go and looked into her exes, fam and alibi to make sure she didn’t attempt to take her kids back, definitely procedure. <modsnip>

The fact they didn’t name the boys OR plead for them to be found was not good.
Absolutely the FBI knows a ton more than we do, so I’m going to refer to their actions to tell me where this is headed and just hope for a press conference soon.

Hope the other babies are with loved ones being showered with hugs and kisses and comfort on this very sad Christmas :(

"Checked in yesterday and that's when we pulled up and saw the investigation going on and them digging in the backyard and...what we think was digging," WL, a neighbor, said. "They had jack hammers, and roto hammers going, lots of lights out."

LR says a local flew a drone while the digging was happening.

"I did look at the videos myself and what it looked like to me is they were sifting through fine dirt to find things and they would find things and they would put them in baggies," Romero, said.

She says they came out with bags and took them to the forensics team.

I agree, and they were there again last night.

Still absolutely zero updates from authorities but that's honestly pretty normal for this PD.

This town has a LOT of very vocal citizens and the community is used to the drama some of them create. Local authorities tend to just let them go off. Local city council meetings are always interesting. On the news, you'll see a Jennifer Wood talking to reporters. She's a former mayor and a real piece of work. Her heart is in the right place, but like many community members out there... drama follows.

Dude... some idiot flew a drone over an active police investigation? Ugh. That's not going to go over well. That's a major no-no.
