CA CA - Pearl Pinson, 15, Vallejo, 25 May 2016

Where did he live? Solano County, Contra Costa County, Alameda County? When did he write the suicide note, before or after the kidnapping?
Presumably in Vallejo- which is Solano County. The reason it's getting confusing is because LE keeps switching between cities and counties, so if you're not familiar with California...

I'm thinking if he killed her (sorry) he probably did it right away, and then took off. He might've been on the way to Mexico.
IMO, searching closer to home is the most logical.

I'm familiar with the Bay Area, I'm a Northern California native, family ancestry going back to the Gold Rush.

Does anyone remember what county Castro had a previous arrest in?

7 Sheriff’s Deputies On Leave Following Solvang Shootout

Castro's autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday and the Coroner’s Office is conducting an extensive death investigation, she added.
“A determination on whether he shot himself and/or was shot and killed by law enforcement will not be made until the autopsy is complete,” Hoover said.

Thank you both!

My question is why did he go to great lengths to hide her body if he was planning to kill himself anyway? Just to torture her family? Or was the suicide note a red herring to throw LE off his trail until he reached Mexico and hoped they would assume he was already dead?

I suspect that when it came time to kill himself, he chickened out and ran instead.

It seems like the Solano County Sheriff's Dept. has taken the lead in this case, so I suspect that it will be confusing to some people.

(Vallejo PD might still be recovering from the controversy regarding their handling of last year's kidnapping of Denise Hoskins. Maybe that's why the SO has taken it over?)

I wonder if Pearl had a phone with her? Most likely she did. Would he have left it with her, or... is it on her person still? I'm sure LE
are frantically checking pings from both cells.

I thought the earlynews reports said they found her phone on the pedestrian walkeay where she was kidnapped?

Search for missing teen resumes on Northern California coast

"The Solano County Sheriff's Office said 65 people from several law enforcement agencies and search and rescue groups are looking for 15-year-old Pearl Pinson in the Willow Creek area of Sonoma Coast State Park.

The search on land and along a river for the high school freshman was suspended Friday at sundown.

Sheriff's spokeswoman Christine Castillo did not elaborate on what led investigators to the rural area, saying only that the strongest leads are there"

This article isn't up to date about the search (seems to be from yesterday morning), but confirms her cellphone was left behind and that Castro also lived in Vallejo.

He was seen on air Francis drake Blvd on THURS morning.

If his car was spotted on the Richmond/San Rafael Bridge at 9:30 a.m. on Wed. (the day of the kidnapping)
http://www.ktvu.com/news/145393532-story
and IF he went north to Jenner, that would have taken him at least an hour and a half, putting him in the Jenner area by noon Wed.

Then, the next day (Thurs), he was shot in Solvang, which is at least a 6-hour drive south from Jenner. I wonder where he was/what he did during those many hours between travelling?

p.s. Just for further timeline reference:
-- The kidnapping happened at about 7 a.m. Wed. in Vallejo.
-- Travel time from Vallejo to the Richmond/San Rafael Bridge would be less than 30 minutes (depending on where on the bridge he was spotted at 9:30 a.m.). So, there is a time gap there too.

Oh dear, it does look like I got that wrong. I can't edit now. I'll ask a mod to remove it. So sorry.
