This is the kind of scenario I was entertaining. I had not thought of another run. I have read through accounts of people who have recently gone out and ran the route PK planned, and learned the lot he was in is very small.
Do you live in the Bay Area or another similar urban area? I agree it is possible they do not, but given the profile--MIT, tech oriented--it seems rather unlikely there would not be tech involved that would prove PK entering and leaving his home.
PK seems like such a good person, intelligent, family man, athletic, good friends. This is so baffling - gone without a trace.

Interesting case.
We should remember there are ways to get water too--i.e. from plants, dew, etc and PK's father and others have said he was experienced in being outdoors as well as being a runner.
Speculation only by me, but when JY said they met hiking at MIT, I assumed they were probably members of the outing club there. IF so, it is a very active group and hikes, camps, etc all over New England, including the White Mountains. Some members could be casual, of course. Again, speculation only and based on the accounts given by family members, but he definitely could have the skills to stay alive if injured and lost.
By the same token though, that skillset would also make getting lost on a trail like this one less likely? By CTs account, PK was very skilled at map reading and planning routes and alternatives.

The fitness watch only allows people to see what you choose to share from it. PK may seem very tech savvy, but he also has a pretty small footprint in social media. He may well have been keenly aware of the security breaches, hacks, and ambiguous privacy policies surrounding Amazon-owned Ring. Their cameras may be a convenient tool for web sleuthing but I certainly don't want one at my home for those reasons.

There are a lot of other options though, aside from a Ring.

Again, to be clear. I'm not suggesting any one theory. Just thinking aloud and wondering how security footage may factor in.
We know he was shown mailing a package at the UPS store. It would be interesting to know where else he was captured on film. (Stoplights, store cameras, etc. )

I'm also curious about some of the credible sightings/credible tips from the evening PK disappeared. Does anyone know if these have been ruled out? Again, it seems dash cameras and security cameras could be helpful here as well?

I really have difficulty with him getting lost, running beyond his skillset, etc. I know anything is possible, but I'm struggling with this. A medical emergency related to some undiagnosed condition, perhaps?

I read somewhere he was at the Oakland post office around 9am, given that he changed in his car, let’s give him fifteen minutes, he would’ve been at the trailhead latest by 10 am as it takes only 30 mins between those two locations.
Where was he between 10am and 1045?!
Did the post office footage show someone changing in his car or also showed his face?
My other question is did the wife actually talk to him or did he call and hang up?
How has SAR and 100+ not found him yet in a regional park?
if he was that disabled by heat, how could he walk 20 miles anywhere?

Does this area he runs border private property? I know around here, some of our preserves and state parks butt right up to private property, and those property owners have gotten really sick of people accidentally or on purpose wandering onto their property while out hiking or biking. Just thinking if this was a new running route for him and he accidentally stumbled onto someone's private property who had their last straw with that and they took it out on him....MOO of course. Just one other thought I had.
Yes, the timeline is a bit skewed, and you're right, it doesn't quite line up.
The run was supposed to take 45 mins, and he was to call his wife at 12.35hrs, so that would mean his run was to begin at about 11.45hrs.
So 30 mins drive from postal store to trail head....working backwards that would mean he was at the postal store about 11.00hrs.
So, 09.00hrs or 11.00hrs there is a discrepancy of 2 hours.
Did LE confirm it was actually 09.00hrs?
Has the camera footage been made public?
Maybe if his car has sat-nav or some sort of navigation/tracker, LE will be able to get more information about where he was and when.
I'd also like it if LE made some of his last known movements public.
There are many people searching for Philip and it seems disrespectful not to give a few little updates along the way.

LE tracked his car using fastrak and other things but we don’t have all the details of how it makes sense timeline wise unless it’s the wrong information and gaps in the narrative
I didn't bookmark it, and am now concerned about the terms of service and social media. I'm a little shaky with this thread and the AMA and what is permissible to directly share after the clean up. If you search, you should be able to find people discussing.
I do not want to seem unhelpful. Just do not want to link to anything that might not be Websleuths approved and get the discussion closed again. I usually post on the cases for people missing in the 1970s, so they obviously wouldn't have the same kind of "hot" action.

That’s my take as well - IMO he seemed like a by-the-books kind of guy & if he mapped out a route, that’s probably the route he took, especially considering how precise he was with his ETA to his wife. He also had a baby & a toddler at home - knowing he had precious cargo at home could have possibly stopped him from taking unnecessary risks while out on the trails??
yah but he was a Harvard and MIT grad who lived in the heart of the tech industry. I would bet he has cameras.
Right, and everything I have found publicly available about these trails, leads me to believe they're not the type of place an experienced person would get lost. At least not in a serious way. PK has solid navigation skills, and solid survival skills.
Let's talk about his not being "heat adapted". As a former president of an outing club, he would 100% have knowledge and practice with being outdoors in all kinds of conditions. This is just a casual Saturday morning run, so what motivation would he have to push himself into heat stroke?
These are the reasons I am leaning towards either a catastrophic medical emergency, like a sudden heart attack where he somehow dragged himself off the trail and has been tragically overlooked, or he parked the car and never ran the trail.
I have no explanation for why he would do the latter.
