From the AMA:

There *is* still some water in the area despite the recent heat & drought.

There were two private properties that the search team weren’t able to search but it sounds like LE had access to? Unless I misread that part but it sounded like LE had been on those properties.

Any body of water close enough to be of interest to searchers?

I just still find it so odd that, in the case of a medical event or animal attack, that the dogs would so quickly lose the scent. How likely is it to still be detectable in the most open, highest, and therefore hottest point of the trail, than it would be down lower where there’s more grass, trees, and shade? That parking lot and trailhead are at like a high point, and it gets so hot there, where as the trail itself, especially the fire trails to lead to the main trail, are lower and shaded. Not to mention, the trailhead and lot are probably more trafficked, where all manner of things other than heat could erode scent faster. Idk, just a thought.

Per the AMA it sounds like there are quite a few water areas surrounding Philip’s planned path

One thing that makes it hard for me to think "voluntary disappearance" is that, if a person is bright and ethical, both of which PK seemed very much to be, such a person would not be ok with allowing a search to go on and on, especially in severe weather or harsh terrain where the searchers are putting themselves at some risk.

If PK had walked away intentionally for whatever reason, it seems probable to me that he would then have let LE know he was ok and to stop searching. Within a day or two at the most.

Any bright, internet-savvy person can easily determine with a google search that one can report oneself "not missing" to law enforcement without identifying ones new location if so desired. No information will be released to the public (even the family) beyond "this person is safe and no longer considered missing".

I'm pretty sure it was addressed in their texts, where PK decided that in order to run w CT he would have to get up really early, and instead he opted to sleep in and find somewhere to run along his route to Stockton.
I went back to the texts. You're right it was addressed somewhat there. It kind of makes sense that both opted for the leisurely run Friday evening in order to leave some gas in the tank for more ambitious runs on Saturday. The texts suggest CT was joining a group run at Mt. Um. But it doesn't look like CT did a run anywhere else Saturday before joining the PK search party in the evening, based on his public Strava data. He could have run and not recorded it, or marked it private, but most of us Strava users are pretty compulsive about recording runs.

Do you mean that CT didn't do the group run at Mt. Um early Saturday? If not, has he addressed why not in his many public comments?

Hmmm.

Not that I'm aware of. The only timeline we have for PK between the Friday run and the UPS store is from the info provided by CT. In fact he may be the only source for the UPS store info too. His AMA doesn't say anything about the Friday after the beer break. They clearly finished the run and presumably he then gave PK a ride home. Or maybe they went out for another beer or two after the Friday run and they both slept late on Saturday (MOO).

I believe LE reported on the UPS store and that the package was a return.

It could be completely irrelevant, but I'm just curious why CT didn't go ahead with his early Saturday plans at Mt. Um. PK wasn't reported missing until hours later.

I have not seen why C. did not run that morning, but I don't think that is really relevant. I see on the search page on fb... that he is answering questions about logistics and helping lead the search for his running buddy.

Would it come off as passive-aggressive and/or threatening if someone were to ask for another AMA? Keeping in mind the focus of/framing as being an update?

I see that alot of logistical and search type questions have been asked of C. on the fb page which he answers when he can, it looks like. They are busy people. I would not ask questions of C. like why didn't you go on the run though. That could be taken the wrong way, and as the moderator here stated earlier, there is no reason at this point to cast aspersions on anyone (reframed her comments, but you get the gist).

His device later synchs with his phone.

I imagine they placed him at PR park the day before based on GPS info on his phone, which they are in possession of. That detail had not come out before today. So that would be 2 runs on Friday and 1 on Saturday.
He was not at PR the day before this is incorrect. He was running at Redwood Regional with Chris. This is also in his Strava data. Saturday was allegedly his first time at PR
Sorry just realized I’m responding to an old post. If this was corrected, nvmd

I agree! And should have added some clarifiers, like: Not an AMA from CT. This wouldn't be about him (as finding KP shouldn't be). I'm thinking more like actual answers to updates from what's already been reported, and possibly gain info on other factual/pertinent details that would be, presumably, known by the search team and could assist in piecing together his whereabouts. Basically, I'm over-explaining here a common scenario akin to an indie version of a "public press release". Nothing weird! I'm making it weird.

OIC, I'm not sure then! I suppose that could be done on the fb search site, you mean? I've been seeing regular comments from people there each day anyways.

Aren't we allowed to mention info from an admin of a "help find" missing person fb page? CT seems to have answered several further questions: the car was locked, and a change of clothes was in it (not just the shirt). There was also mention of several mines and tunnels in the general area, which he indicated seem to have been considered by SAR efforts.

Yes! I was a bit confused as to what was being proposed and where is all.

I'm thinking about the car. We do not know anything about PKs keys. Do we know if his car had a dash cam, or anything like that aside from the FastTrak?

I was thinking if he got into some kind of trouble near the car that wasn't instant/catastrophic, I wonder why he didn't try honking the horn for attention, etc? Perhaps he did?
