Absolutely, especially a fresh case like this. I wish I could have read the street sign on the news to try and figure out where she was found. The way they were talking this is an area where people wouldn't be out hiking, but I'm not sure if people would be walking the roads or not. Even if a dog or person did smell it though, why would they go tromping off into this remote canyon looking for the smell that far off the road? If you live in remote areas you smell decomp from time to time and generally don't think twice about it, just figure some critter died. It's really making me wonder who called it in, all I've heard so far is "someone".

I was thinking that the woman stayed closer to the road and the dog wandered into the grassy area away from her and made such a fuss, she either called for help or went for her own look. I know that the decomp smell is very distinctive and you never forget it - but not ALL people know what it smells like and it could be mistaken for a decaying animal. moo

I think the fact that the body was not far off a main road may mean the person who did it is not familiar with a lot of backroads in the area. Probably in a state of extreme panic he or she just drove out of town for 15-20 miles and looked for a secluded place to pull over, in an area that seemed uninhabited. This may be very different from the Morgan Harrington case where the perp likely had to be very familiar with the area he left her body.

Maybe, maybe not. That area gets remote right off the highways in a hurry and even some of the highways are pretty remote. Wish I could get a better idea of where it was, couldn't make out the sign on the news.

On HELP FIND PHUONG Facebook page it was posted, 23 minutes ago, by Phuong's brother "Search party has been cancelled". This was the search party planned for Saturday - tomorrow. God Bless my friend, Phuong.

Could be for sure, again wish we had more specifics on the area. Depending on how close this was to the highway there is no way I would ever let a dog off lead in that area. I guess I'll just have to be patient. (I'm not very good at that.)

Unbelievably sad. Just don't know what to say.

Quoted from the Fairfield PD presser regarding the family arriving at the site where the body was found:

I'd say led is open to interpretation. jmo
It could mean that the media called the family, the family hadn't heard anything, the media let them know where the body had been found and the family showed up.

Either way, it's a pretty crappy way to learn the body of your sister may had just been found. again jmo

The remains were located about 30 to 40 yards off Highway 121, also known as Monticello Road, south of Highway 128, about halfway between Fairfield and Lake Berryessa

Guess I won't be sleeping well tonight. I don't imagine the Le family will be sleeping at all. The one word I'll be thinking of..."Justice."

G'nite, sleuthers. Be well. Till then...

Then end of the news had a family friend that went with them and all she said was "they haven't told us anything" which could mean that they said that they couldn't confirm if it was her. She did not come out and say that the media brought them up there though.

I see you're new to WS and so sorry it's under these particular circumstances - sounds like you may know Phuong as a friend, again, so very sorry you have lost your friend. Welcome and thank you for joining us.

There were so many areas she could have been dumped, why way up there? Just heard about near 128, that's quite a ways up. Tons of dirt roads up that way too, I don't get it. If you're panicked why go all the way out there?

OK. They know it's her.

http://www.kcra.com/news/23493420/detail reports "The body was found near Highway 121 near Wooden Valley Road, south of Lake Berryessa in Napa County". This is a very rural area, woods, vineyards, a few houses.

Wooden Valley Rd in Napa runs into Suisun Valley Rd in Fairfield. It is a straight 27 mile distance between Barnes & Noble in Fairfield and the intersection of Wooden Valley Rd & Hwy 121 in Napa.

Lots of vineyards out there, not much else, a few houses. Whoever found her was someone that lived out there (assuming it wasn't someone who had knowledge of the dump).

I haven't been up there in a while, but I don't remember it being a "straight" 27 mile drive. And why go all the way up there, there are plenty of remote areas along the way?
