That's such a beautiful portrait of her.

I'll have to catch up - but in the meantime, prayers for Phuong Le and her family. I'm so sorry for their loss.

What we also have learned from Huong's statement is this most likely isn't a serial killer who collects items from his victims or her jewelry would have been taken. MOO

And another indication that this is someone inexperienced, who hasn't killed before (and perhaps didn't plan on killing at all but went out of control somehow during a heated discussion?) A seasoned criminal would surely know to take something so identifying as that jewelry....whether he/she kept it as a trophy, or just took it away and tossed it in a lake somewhere.

Exactly! MOO

Yep. My thoughts, too.

I think this was a crime of passion, in other words, heat of the moment, and the killer panicked, drove and drove until he/she thought they were far enough away from their own neighborhood and just left her...without thinking about jewelry or when she might be discovered, no thoughts of trying to bury her or put her in water, etc...just pure panic at what they had just done. And then turned around and drove back to wherever they live.

I really do not want this to turn out to be the ex-boss...I don't know why, other than Phoung trusted him, whatever their relationship really was, and wanted to tell him about her frustrating day...but I do feel it is someone who knew her.

cluciano63, I entirely agree. I couldn't point a finger in good conscience without the evidence LE has/will have, and I really don't want this to turn out to be the ex-boss either. But I agree with you on all counts -- this was someone she knew, someone who knew her, someone who committed this act without much planning, and someone whose actions show panic, haste, and inexperience. Wonder how many POI's on LE's list can be eliminated from that pool. ???

Right now I'd just like to know how many POIs LE has on their list! I agree with the assessment though about the perp being in a hurry, not bothering to remove her jewelry, finding the first place that looked good to dispose of her body ~ either because he was totally inexperienced, hadn't planned to kill her, or had a limited amount of time before he was supposed to be home or somewhere. One thing we don't know yet is exactly how her body was found, such as was it at all covered or just out in the open? Most times if the killer has any attachment to the victim, they'll at least try to cover up the body. MOO

I'm curious to know exactly where she was found, too. The areas I viewed on Google maps and street view didn't seem to reveal very many areas where natural debris would be available to use as a cover, KWIM? And I wouldn't think there would be an abundance of fallen leaves/other brush here in the spring in California. Those areas looked pretty barren, but then again, I'm only judging from photographic images. I've never been to the area so I wouldn't know.

But if he tried to cover her up with something he had (trash bag, blanket, etc.)...well, that would be a nice forensic jackpot. Hopefully.

I like that, "forensic jackpot"! The Le family could use some good fortune.

I'm not seeing much foliage from Google maps either and I guess I'm just used to cases where there is a lot of brush, trees, etc to conceal a body. I'm also assuming either her clothing is missing or badly deteriorated that it hasn't been mentioned for identification purposes; I hope not though. :(

Gosh, I know. I'm hoping for anything helpful that will offer even a bit of relief for the pain the family's going through. Just a glimmer, at least. I keep hoping the perp was so clumsy, he left everything short of his name and address at the scene.

How has the weather been out there since she went missing? A lot of rain, hot sun, or what? I'm just curious what condition her remains might be in and what forensics might be there.

Napa area weather has been mid 60's to high 40's at night.

Might have to dig a little deeper to find out precipitation levels, etc.

This will keep you busy. Scroll down on the left to the Historical Readings section. Or, you might want to check the Napa County readings.
There's a program on CNN now that I want to watch.

LOL ~ I know I could look it up, I just hoped someone would remember besides what Whisperer posted about the temperatures. I'm about ready to call it a night so I'll research tomorrow! :seeya:

I hope I'm not missing something. Is there a link we should click?
