“It was dad’s weekend and he had picked them up in the morning as planned,” Robyn Castillo said. “We’re very close.”

From above post, her Dad is saying the children's father picked them up but I originally thought she had dropped them off? Also her mom said she texted regarding the transfer of the kids, do we know what time that was? I"m not leaning towards the ex at this point but I'm just wondering who was where and when?

That’s confusing me also! Did she drop off or did he pickup?

Frig, frig, frig!!!
I just wish it wasn't always the ex. But so often it is.
Men are so often violent. That is their 'solution'. Just let the women go. You don't own them.
<sigh>

MURDER SUSPECT ARRESTED

On Thursday, November 10, 2022, at 8:31 pm, the Simi Valley Police Department received a 9-1-1 call from Emily Castillo, a Simi Valley resident. Emily stated she arrived home at her Wood Ranch area apartment and found evidence that a struggle occurred inside. Her sister, Rachel Castillo (25 years), who resides with Emily, was missing. Rachel’s personal belongings, including her cell phone, car keys, and vehicle, were still at the location.

Simi Valley Police Officers responded to the apartment and conducted a preliminary investigation. Based on evidence at the scene, officers suspected that a crime involving serious injury occurred. Rachel was entered into the Missing Persons System, and the SVPD Detective Bureau responded to the scene and took over the investigation. Detectives have been working continuously since that time to locate Rachel and develop leads in the case.

This afternoon, Detectives located human remains of an adult female in a remote location within the Antelope Valley. The Detectives, along with the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the remains as Rachel Castillo.

The primary suspect in this case, is Rachel’s ex-husband, 25-year-old, City of Hawthorne resident, Zarbab Ali. Mr. Ali was arrested, this afternoon at his parent’s home in Victorville, in connection to Rachel’s homicide.

This investigation has rapidly evolved over the past few days. This case is still under investigation and some details cannot be released due to legal and investigative reasons. The Simi Valley Police Department will release additional details related to this case when it is available.

… and she worked every day to help domestic violence victims. May she RIP.

WOW...they sure were working hard and fast behind the scenes. I bet her retired FBI Dad was involved as well. He had to have known.

That ^^^ fact had made me suspicious of her ex. Many women I know who work with DV victims are survivors themselves or they saw it in the childhood. Just like a lot of drug counsellors are recovered addicts. JMO

I hope their children didn't witness this.

This is exactly why we ask these specific questions. Very sad outcome. My prayers are with her children and family.

Same :(

Wish it wasn't "always the husband" (yes I know it's not literally) but, well... here's yet another example. Such a cruel irony that she had a passion for helping DV victims, although as someone else said that could be because she had personal experience herself. Poor Rachel, only 25. Her adult life had barely begun. So frustrating.

Rachel Castillo's family is combing over what investigators have already sifted through and trying to find the slightest answers into why she vanished.

Castillo, 25, has two young children, is studying to become a therapist and lives with her sister just a few miles down the road from their parents.

Emily Castillo, the sister, came home Thursday night and upon walking into their apartment she immediately saw blood -- a lot of it.

"As soon as I saw the blood, that's when I realized something wasn't right," Emily said. "So I called my mom to let her know to come over and then I immediately called 911."

Her mom arrived soon after and saw the mess firsthand. Rachel's phone, keys and car were all home without her.

Robyn says her first thought was that someone took her, but she doesn't know if that's what actually happened.

She added that Rachel dropped her sons off with their father earlier that morning. That was planned and they said they have no reason to believe he would've hurt her.

The family even trusted him. SMH, this is so upsetting.

I am not sure they really did. Maybe they were making him feel comfortable so they could nab him.

I hope her family has the kids.
