Bakersfield homicide suspect wanted in missing baby's disappearance
Police began to investigate the disappearance of the boy, Ramon Angel Reyes-Chavez, on Wednesday around 8:40 p.m. During the investigation, detectives developed information leading them to believe that Reyes-Chavez was the victim of a homicide, according to Bakersfield Police Department.
Detectives identified Kaleb Kessinger, 20, as a suspect in this case, and attempted to contact him in the 3400 block of Nighthawk Lane in Northwest Bakersfield, police say. Officers located Kessinger on Wednesday night at about 10:45 p.m. driving his car on Nighthawk Lane, according to police.
Kessinger fled from officers and was involved in a single vehicle traffic collision near Calloway Drive and Olive Drive. 17 News reported heavy police presence at the time of the crash but Bakersfield Police Department could not release any information at the time.
Kessinger was last seen fleeing on foot from that area, police say. Detectives have obtained an arrest warrant for Kessinger for charges which include homicide and felony child abuse.
