If the VC Kinsler on this roster went missing, they weren't the Riverside John Doe we're talking about. On the spreadsheet above their seniority date is in 1953, and our UID probably hadn't been born then.

My first time on this page. I not even sure how I got here, however I found this photo with some links. As I not certain if it looks as the same man but here’s a something I found.
I think this person is too old to be a match. His eyebrows are a different shape, he appears to be in his 40s and he has straight hair.

Could this be his grandpa and explain where he got the shirt?
If you see Vernon's daughter married a man named Mark I can't find anything on the daughter that married Mark I guess could be just a coincidence but pretty crazy since he has a tattoo that says Mark

Does anyone on this thread have strong Ancestry.com kung fu? I searched for all "Mark"s with an Oregon connection, born between 1950 and 1960 and with a birthday in May. That yields a few hundred thousand results, and doesn't even include June. I'd like to further restrict it to birthdays between May 21 and June 21, but I don't know how to do that. Can anyone help? That'll still return 100K+ results, but at least the results would be more relevant, and without a DNA test I don't think there's a better way to find this guy simply using the internet.

If you are adept with Ancestry and have your own account, DM me and maybe we can plan how to divide and conquer.

I'm just wondering about those tattoos. Is it possible they are prison tattoos and he did them himself? I wonder if he was right handed because the tattoos on his left hand or on his body seem to be clearer images while the one on his right hand is kind of shaky which might suggest he wasn't as adept using that hand.

It's obvious he was hitch hiking based on the statement of two of the passengers in the vehicle involved in the collision. It seems most of the kids in the car died in the collision, too. The ID was from a student in Oregon who left it on top of his car while he got gas. So who knows how the JD ended up with it. Either took it off the vehicle or found it at the side of the road while hitchhiking. He was incarcerated in Oregon but it doesn't mean he lived there. People were still hitch hiking back then without a care in the world. And it was easy to cross borders with the minimum amount of security back then, too, so it's possible he's Canadian and the US 'Vernon' work shirt is something he picked up in his travels. I checked Canada's Missing, nothing there. Not that that means anything; Canada's tracking of missing people is woefully inadequate, imo.

Isn't it kind of bold to give LE a fake ID when arrested and incarcerated? I think so. I guess it was a lot harder back then to check someone who was going to prison was giving you the right ID. I'd really like to know how old the real Bushnell was, considering he was in college and the date range for the UID is 'under 30'. If LE went to Bushnell's parents home to advise them of his death would LE also advise people their child had been incarcerated if they were under the age of 21?

could have also been a neighbor if this shirt is Vernons which seems to be he had to have been in Ohio to get it

My thoughts are he acquired the shirt somehow and wore it to give the impression his name was Vernon. He already gave LE a fake name and seemingly had intent on using the stolen ID as his own name. For some reason he didn't want anyone to know who he really was. He was not wearing it at the time of the accident, however. Also I believe he was wanting to hang out in Riverside for a while. He had some belongings in a Greyhound bus terminal locker. He had been drinking with the people in the car. It was said they were going to a "crash pad" in Rubidoux. Maybe he was smitten with one of the local gals that was in the car with him. And I wonder why those girls were there. Were they also picked up hitchhiking?

And is anyone still alive that worked at the Satellite home. He may have been through there and either ran from there or got kicked out. He also may have spent time at the juvenile hall.

I think we can rule out that Vernon. His daughter married a Mark Gillings and they had a son in 1987.
Apologies, I had trouble trying to reply.

This kid Jacques Chaput, from Canada, looks so much like him but the picture taken when he was a year or two younger. And it would explain why he wanted to keep his identification a secret.

Seems like there where friends at the stop where they picked up JD ...

I know he wasn't Vernon but I figure you find the real Vernon where he worked and from which I believe was Ohio maybe that will lead to how he came upon the shirt and maybe lead to who he is .. the shirt was in the locker but he acquired it somehow.. Vernon could have donated it or JD could have got it from Vernon's sons maybe they where friends etc... might be a dead end might not be.

He has brown hair and went missing 1977 I don't think he would age as much as we seen for JD in a year

I wonder if the bar he got picked up at with a a knife is still open or someone who used to work there is still around maybe the college student unless this place he had to of met people hitchhiking and told someone something of importance. Also I wonder if you can look up all grey hounds that day/ day before and what state they came from trace his steps.

There is no telling when the picture of Jaques was taken. He went missing in 77. No one knows when his picture was taken. And if he wanted to change to a new identity he could have tried dyeing (lightening) his hair which would have turned red. JD looks to have dry damaged hair.

The Carter could probably tell if it was dyed

They are actually both about the same age. Jaques was born 1960. JD was around 20 years old in '78.
