Regarding Sandy: his existence was corroborated at least as far as the fact the youths in question had dropped him off at a motel (Royal Motel) in Arroyo Grande, where police later confirmed a young man of like description had stayed, according to the motel proprietor.

Otherwise, there seems to be little connection to the Domingos Edwards murders, other than relative proximity in time and peace to the Vern Smith stabbing-robbery murder that occured within a few days of the double murders. Sandy was apparently never, to my knowledge , located or identified. I'm not even sure if the Domingos -Edwards killing is even related to Zodiac, but it definitely has some interesting similarities. I would expect whoever was responsible was local to the area of Lompoc.

Could this double murder be connected to another double murder which occurred 8 months later - that of Johnny Ray and Joyce Swindle?

They were also killed on a California (San Diego) beach by an assailant who shot them with a .22.
