If people have been reporting the smell for over a week then someone somewhere has dropped the ball, BIG TIME.

Firefighter reports a water main was blown out at the time, so they were delayed by 1/2hour getting water... PG&E confirms it was one of their 24'' pipes- I think a Transmission one. Residual gas in individual home lines- built in 1950's, close together. Firefighters will begin door-door searches for people. Evacuees should phone in to let officials know they are safe. Blood banks need donations of O- blood.

Anyone else bawling their eyes out, especially from listening to that gentleman explain how he and his family got out with not even their shoes on?

Absolutely devastating. I can't imagine losing everything in one second. I don't have TV so didn't find out about until a friend posted it on Facebook. That inferno was raging and intense. Hope we'll be able to collect a lot of donations for those people, my God. I feel just sick.
