They are talking about the spot flames at almost every house that looks like it's being fed by gas.

  • #62
Fire department couldn't get near any of the houses by the gas torch. The heat was too intense.

Freelance photographer's video now on ABC 7... cars and homes on fire... :(

  • #64
Could that be the reason I'm seeing green flames?

Scanner
2yo hurt. :(

Metal and chemicals can produce green flames... you could be seeing them from house frames burning. They were just saying the heat was so intense that it was showing up on satellite imagery. :(

(09-09) 20:44 PDT SAN BRUNO -- With a thunderous roar heard for miles, a natural gas line exploded in San Bruno shortly after 6 p.m. Thursday, sending up a geyser of fire, critically burning residents and igniting a blaze that gobbled up more than a dozen houses in a residential neighborhood.
The wind-whipped blaze jumped from structure to structure in the area near Skyline Boulevard and Sneath Lane, west of Interstate 280, raging unabated for nearly an hour as emergency crews rushed in, residents cleared out in all directions and ambulance sirens filled the air.
The central ball of fire, fed by the gas line, raged past nightfall before abating. By then, about 20 houses and thick stands of trees were engulfed in flames. Power was cut off to the area, and the only light came from emergency vehicles and the smoldering houses.

When the gas line blew it took out a water line. Gas meters spewing gas at houses is what I was seeing before.

The explosion blew out the water main? is that what they are saying?

SAN BRUNO, CA (KGO) -- At least one person is dead and mulitple homes are on fire after a large explosion in the area near highways 280 and 380, Skyline Boulevard and Sneath Lane in San Bruno.
A large fireball up to 50 feet in the air continues to burn out of control in the Crestmoor Two area. Fire crews are attacking the fires from the air and ground. As many as 35-45 homes are on fire or have burned. It is believed that a 24-inch PG&E high-pressure gas line is the source of the explosion and fire. The Office of Emegency Services is giving the central location of the incident as Clairmont and Glenview drives. The San Mateo County Sheriff has activated the reverse-911 system to alert people in a three-quarter mile radius of a voluntary evacuation.
People as far as one-half mile away say they felt the boom and heat of the explosion.
An evacuation center has been set up at the San Bruno Veterans Memorial Recreation Center at 251 City Park Way. Residents are also gathering at Tanforan and Bay Hill shopping centers. The FAA says it was not a plane. SFO spokesperson Mike McCarron says no plane from SFO is involved.

well, I found myself tearing up & praying to a god I don't believe in to help these people

I don't know why this is affecting me so much but I am going to bed now & I will continue to think of the residents, the animals, and the rescue workers & hope it doesn't get any worse
