Map

The red A is pointing to the neighborhood the explosion and fire are (I think)

You can zoom out to see where it is in relation to the Airport (to the East) and where it is in relation to San Francisco.

Oh no no no no! This is reminding me of the tragic Oakland fire decades ago. Does anyone remember that?
Yes. Have friends that lost their houses in that. A little bit different in that the day of that fire, it was very hot, dry, and there were Santa Ana winds. And hot embers flying for miles.

Hopefully, they will be able to contain this to this one neighborhood.

I just saw this on the local news... said that the fireball could have gone as high as a 1000ft... also saying that ABC's Nightline will be doing an update on it.

Those poor people. :( This happened around dinner time too didn't it?

Yes. In fact a few callers said they were making dinner. They just showed a family who left their house in their pajamas.

SAN BRUNO, Calif. -- A massive fireball, possibly fueled by a broken natural gas line, erupted in the San Bruno foothills early Thursday evening, igniting at least 15 homes and sending dozens to a local hospital, six of those in critical condition with burns, authorities said. The four-alarm conflagration, soaring several hundred feet into the air in a tornadic column of fire, started at about 6:15 p.m. at Skyline Boulevard and San Bruno Avenue, according to the battalion chief's office.“We heard what sounded like a plane, then all of a sudden an explosion,” Carmann Robbins told KTVU. “It shook the window. It kind of startled me. We jumped up and then all you could see was flames. The flames were just spreading all through the houses. I don’t think the people had time to get out. It (the fire) was jumping from one house to one house to another.”

I'm watching the live feed from the link you provided (TY). It's unreal to be watching this.
I did see them interview a girl who looked to be with her sister in jammies.
What a disaster. Heartbreaking.

Earlier the ABC station reported that there was a parents night at the local elementary school tonight and that the school was evacuated. I found this link about the event that was scheduled for 5:00 PM.

I'm hoping there aren't any parents who were at the event who are now separated from their kids back at their homes in the fire area.
